There's a strong chance that we may not have a future to think about with all this climate change, and the constant threat of nuclear war. But, if we find ways to solve these problems, we may just reach a new era in technological advancement where things like famine and disease may very well become obsolete.

Personally, I say there are three posibilities.

    #1. NO FUTURE
For a long time, conspiracy theories have been flying around, the most recent "failed" one being the Hadron Collider. However, many recent and old sources have been pointing to one specific date as the "End of the Earth", December 21(22?), 2012. If this "doomsday" actually does happen (which I doubt), then the future many of us expect will be far away from reality. An even worse thing to add to this is Global Warming, which is the bigger concern. Humans have only recently realized the problem and have begun to try and start changing things, which is going extremely slowly. Will we be able to avoid this fatal future?

    #2. GOOD FUTURE
Ever since the First Industrial Revolution, the Human Race has been in a, possibly fatal, downward spiral into destroying their home. Once again, we have only recently began to realize our mistakes, and if we do not fix this on time, it will lead to #1. However, if in some miracle, we are able to "fix the Earth", we will be able to save the Earth and avoid Global Warming, though it is inevitable that Global Warming will happen. Tying in with "Saving the Earth" would be new technologies and ideas, possibly sending the Earth into it's first "Golden Age".

    #3. BAD FUTURE
Poverty, corruption, senseless violence. This human distrust of each other has only recently declined, though in some parts of the world, it has escalated to outright war. Many of us here, living in NA and Europe, think our lives are all fine. Open your eyes. We are living in a "Bad Future". It will be even worse if we do not save the planet and it leads to immediate Global Warming, as said in the second part of #1.

I want to know why I can't equip my car with Mr. Fusion or hoverconverter's yet.

I think that the future will be more technology based seeing as how in the last ten years the modernization of electronics into our lives. Will we have an alternative fuel source: yes, but it won't be for a long time because it just won't happen over night. If you calculate the number of vehicles on the roads right now mixed with income, not every person will be able to afford the switch over unless we figure out a way to make it economical, environmentally friendly on a massive scale.

Global Warming, who knows, it'll probably be around for a long time, but we'll just have to adapt, the same way species have adapted to climate change since the beginning.

We will get back on the moon, but right now, my bigger concern is not space travel, but being able to control ourselves on Earth.

Yellowstone will erupt, the ice caps will vanish, cats and dogs will start living together, and George Lucas will still be rich.

I think the future will benefit the world in many technological ways due to the making of robots and scientific methods leading into the futures outcome. I think the future will change the way the world is right now. I think that much technology is used, and I also think that there will be a lot of science being learned more than other subjects. Basically what I am saying is that Computer Tech and Science will create a big outcome, but old school things could be used in the future, just like we use them today.

No future. We get killed by our own cars and our computers that we are basicly being pretty gay with if they were alive. They'll want payback. XD

I hope to live in a future where cold-fusion has been achieved. This advancement would create a much needed energy relief.

Call me negative, but I think the world in the future is going to be in a resource crisis.

For sure, we're looking at tough times ahead right now, with the economy dropping and all. It would be hard to till what the future would be like, but we had a problem like this before and we got out of it. So I'm sure we'll be able to get out of it again this time....
There might be some wars too with the new technology that's being made but it can be also used for good things. More lives would be saved and such things like that. The future looks a little rocky now, but I think it'll get better as time goes on.

unless WWIII screws up humans, I think technology will definately make the future better. I doubt that it'll turn us into "lazy fatties" because we mite b able to address those issues as well.

When I think about the future, I think about the future in about 3000 years. So the year 5000.
I think by then humans will have the technology to make life-sustaining habitats on other planet in our galaxy. This could see humans leaving Earth, and allowing plants to grow and animals to thrive on other planets. This would open up whole new supplies of resources, and there'd be the space required.
Even better, would be powerful developments in space transport, so that nearby galaxies could be reached. The more suitable, resouceful planets could be found.
I can see humans staying on Earth for thousands of years, but I also think we'll choose to live on other planets too. Many of Earth's resources are limited, and a range of threats are gradually increasing. It'd be sensible in the future to...move on.
