The Enigmatic Knights: Darkest Before the Dawn

When Zaven woke, he was placed upon a medical table surrouned by knights. the grand marquis approached him and said, "Boy, enlighten me, what is your name?"

Zaven groaned and mumbled,"my name......i..i don't know my name..." with that, he passed out.

A knight then came and approached the marquis saying, "Sir, their blood types match....i thought all his descendants were dead."

The marquis sighed and said, "So dificult..and yet..amazing......we'll name him Rokuxion, the name that the ancheint one took when he entered the dark realm and fought xheonort."

Illix was holding the marquis's hands saying, "I can't remember his name either....its like.....that big monster thing ate it up!!"

The marquis looked at him and said,"THats exactly what happened.....now...you will never tell him of this..his name has always been ad always will be rokuxion, understand child?"

Illix nodded and smiled saying, "I'm no boy, my name is illix! and i'm going to be as strong as brother one day!!"

The marquis laughed and said,"Well....you two will be staying with me for now on...and you two will join the academy and become enigmatic knights"

4 years later....

Rokuxion stood up, wooden sword in hand and smirked.Illix was now 9 years old as he was 13. He lunged forward, wooden sword hitting the boy in the chets and knocking him down."C'mon illi-kun"he joked,"ya gotta get a stronger grip if you wanna block a lunge.."

Illix scowled, got up and chaged, sword over his head with both hands. He came down with a hard vertical slash..though it was easily countered.

Rokuxin ducked his head, right arm wrapping around the boy's chest and left arm. He then pushed forward witht hata rm, then rought his right foot around and legswept him, making him fall to the ground hard, sword flying out.

Rokuxion then dropped his left hand to Illix's side, and dropped his knee on illix's gut, trapping him to the ground.He gripped his swor din his right hand and brought it down to illix's neck. The boy began to laugh and brought his left hand up and smacked the younger brother across the face.

uillix smiled and tackled rokuxion, and the two began to get into a ferice melee, laughing as they did so.

A sudden voice boomed "ENOOOUUGH!!" The two broke away and stood to attention, swords at their sides.

The grand marquis walked in and said "I didn't raise you two to be hannibals!!!, now, Rokuxion, today you start school at tyhe academy....its time you reported to magic class."

 

The bell rang, signaling that classes were now in session. Hakumei ran towards his classroom. Unfortunatly, the doors were closed. The boy walked up to the door and peered through the small window. The class was gathered in a circle while an old man was in the middle talking.

"Great...first day of school and already I'm late." The boy sighed and leaned against the wall right next to the door. He shrugged and reached in his backpack for the book. When his hands felt the book; he pulled it out and slowly sat down. His hands ran across the surface of the book.

"It's so shiny......." he thought as he opened the book and began to read.

 

Rokuxon was wearing khaki shorts and a sleeveless blue shirt. His entire left arm was wrapped in white bandages, a metal pauldron strapped to his right shoulder. the strap went diagonally down his left side, around his wasit and to his back. That same strap held his sword holder, where he kept his fathers sword at all times. on his right hand was a fignerless leather glove, metal boltson the knuckle. His hair fell around his face, down to his hazel green eyes.

The marquis lead him to a door, where a small boy sat. THe marquis scowled at him and snapped,,"Boy, get off the ground!!! if the doors are clsoed ask an officer or teachers help opening, don't just sit there and read rubbish!" The marquis hit his cane down on the ground and approached the door. He typed in a number combination on a numbe pad next to the door. The door slid open and the marquis walked in.

Rokuxion looked at the other boy, then looked straight ahead and walked in, right hand, signalling him to come in. The old man in the center of the ring stood to attention and saluted. "Greetings Marquis, is there a problem?"

The marqis held his cane in front of him, both hands firmy gripping the tigers head (handle). He then shook his head and replied, "no, no problem, just two boys are here to join your magic class." Marquis Graham hit his cane on the floor and Rokuxion walked in, standing to attention. "His name is Rokuxion, and.....you boy, come introduce yourself." He looked oever to the other boy who was late for class.

Hakumei jumped when he saw a person, with a cane in his hands, shout at him. He quickly got up with his back now erect. "YES SIR! SORRY SIR!!" he shouted with his right hand near his temple. He opened the door and in he went along with another student. Their eyes locked for a moment.

The old man in the center of the ring stood to attention and saluted. "Greetings Marquis, is there a problem?"

The marqis held his cane in front of him, both hands firmy gripping the tigers head (handle). He then shook his head and replied, "no, no problem, just two boys are here to join your magic class." Marquis Graham hit his cane on the floor and Rokuxion walked in, standing to attention. "His name is Rokuxion, and.....you boy, come introduce yourself."

Hakumei walked into the classroom. He stopped right next to the other boy and introduced himself to the class.

"Hi. My name is....." he trialed off when he saw Mizu on the other side of the circle; giggling silently.

He glared at her in a friendly expression. "...umm..my name is Hakumei. Nice to meet you all." he said with a friendly smile. Though, he was actually forcing this smile.

The elder man smiled and nodded saying, "Well, Rokuxion and Hakumei, my name is Zagaram, your magick teacher for the year. Please, come and sit down at the circle." Rokuxion looked at the other boy for a moment and walked over, sitting down towards the side of the circle.

Next to him sat a girl, who turned around to look at him. She wore jean shorts and a grey tank top. Blond ehair fell down to her shoulders, blue eyes meeting his. A faint smile was on her face and she leaned towards him, holding out a hand.She spoke softly and whispered, "Hey, my names Rila."

Rokuxion grew a bit baffled, but shook it off and met her hand with a hand shake,"Rokuxion." he whispered in reply. She smiled politely and turned around, listening to Master Zagaram's teachings.

He went on and began to talk,"Magick is a fire that burns within every one of us, and every person haqs the ability to use magick, some more than others." He then hld ou his left hand in a cup, and a small orb of fire grew and began to grow. He then shot it out, the fir eorb zooming and hitting a dummy filled with straw. The dummy burst into flame, and all the students began to clap and cheer. Zagaram turned around and said, "Now, i want you all to practice a fire magick, now i want you all to stand up, face a dummy. Then, hold out one hand and think of everything you hate and despize, then channel it into your hand then fire it out."

Hakumei sat next to Mizu. The circle grew quiet as the old man began to talk. As he talked, Mizu whispered to Hakumei and vice versa. She leaned towards him slightly while still looking at the teacher.

"Why were you late?" she asked in a concerned tone. Hakumei turned his head slightly; eyes still focused on the teacher; and responded.

"I was to busy talking to you, remember!?" his tone a little harsh, yet still kept in a whispering level.

"Psh, please... You still had time to get here!" She fought back.

Hakumei turned his head back into position and looked the other way. He began to mumble in anger. Suddenly, the straw dummy burst into flames. The minute this happened, Hakumei flinched a bit before staring at the burning dummy. The class began to clap. Except for Hakumei. He was to busy staring at the flaming dummy with his eyes wide open.

"Now, i want you all to practice a fire magick, now i want you all to stand up, face a dummy. Then, hold out one hand and think of everything you hate and despize, then channel it into your hand then fire it out."

Hakumei looked at Mizu for second before getting up. He grinned. "Heh..." he uttered as he faced the dummy.

"Think of something we hate and despise....huh?" he thought as he lifted his right hand. He closed his eyes and began to think. Before long, his hand palm sparked and a small ball of fire was created.

He opened his eyes and looked at the fireball. "Whoa....I-I did it!" he said happily. Then, he began to panic as his hand began to burn. The old man turned in the boys excitement and then shouted "Thrust your hand palm forward, boy!!"

Hakumei recoiled his arm and then thrust his palm forward as if pushing someone. The fireball was shot forward, hitting the dummy with a small explosion. The blast radius caused a small shockwave to to flutter his hair and clothing.

Hakumei's right eye twitched. "Ouch..." he muttered.

 

Rokuxion and the rest of the class watched as Hakumei was the first one to successfully unleash a fire magick. THe class clapped and began to try and do ity as well.

Rokuxin looked around then closed his eyes, holding out one hand. He thought of the darkness swallowing his world, his auntie dying, the heartless that attacked him and hurt Illix...he htought of all the suffering and pain of loss he felt for the months following.sudenly, he opened his eyes and a large red ball burst into his hands, burning and growing larger. He scowled and fired it towards the dummy. It cuaght fire and exploded, the head blowing off and burning to a heap of ashes.He smirked, and for 20 minutes the class practiced the fire.

The bell rang and the students were dismissed to their next class, battle class.

 

"So...everyone here wields a Keyblade?" she asked nervously as she looked at the imposing building.

The knight who had rescued her several weeks back nodded. "Yes. And it's also your new home." He took a moment to examine her. "After everything you went through, you're afraid of going to school?"

"No, of course not," she answered quickly. "But I just think I'll stand here for a few more minutes to...admire the academy's architecture."

The knight forced back a smile. "Suit yourself." He handed her a slip of paper. "This will keep you from getting in trouble in case you're late," he explained. "I have to go. I doubt I'll see you again, so you're on your own now."

Amaya nodded gratefully and the knight departed. With trembling fingers she smoothed out her clothes, then headed inside the building.

As the bell rang, the students slowly walked out of the room. Before you knew it, the hallways were flooded with students walking to their next class. Hakumei could be seen walking down the stairs with Mizu. They were having a conversation of todays class.

"Wow Hakumei. You really knew what you were doing!" she praised happily. They got to the bottom of the stairs and began to walk to the "gym".

"Yeah. Of course I knew!" he said in a convincing tone. Mizu then asked him the one question he was hoping she wouldn't ask him.

"So...what were you thinking about? I mean...when you created the fireball.." she said uneasily.

Hakumei was silent for a while. Mizu jumped in front of him in order to make him stop. "Oh come on!! Tell me!" she insisted. He sighed. "Alright! I was thinking about.....uhh....I was thinking about.....well...you.." Mizu gasped.

"I make you despise me?!" she exclaimed. Hakumei got nervous. "N-no! Of course not! I was just thinking about the time you....uhh...." he trailed off in thought. Then, he quickly changed the subject.

"Uhh...umm...so how about that new guy? He must be pretty important if he was taging along with the old guy." he said as he began to walk. Mizu followed him; a bit confused.

"OH! You mean...umm...Rokuxion?" she replied. Hakumei nodded. Mizu thought for a while and then she grinned. "You know, Hakumei.....Rokuxion's kinda cute.." Mizu waited for his response. She was trying to get under his skin.

Hakume scowled. "What? Rokuxion? ....w-wait...wha?" he mumbled with his confused expression. He fell silent.

Once they reached the the two doors, she laughed. This made him even more confused. She turned around and looked at him straight in the eyes.

"I was only joking! Sheesh! You take things way to seriously!" Mizu giggled and they entered the gym. Who knows what would happen today.

Rokuxion looked around the hallways, no idea where to go. He rubbed his head with his right hand and said, "Aw geez, where the hell do i go now?" Suddenly, he felt a soft touch grab his arm, and he turned to see Rila.

She laughed and said, "you seem a bit confuzzled, here, i'll take you to battle class."She grabbed his hand tightly and pulled him down the hallway.

When they approached stairsshe let go and they walked side by side. He turned to her and said,"so....Rila, howcome your here."

She looked at him and smiled,"Well....I was an orphan at Faith Plateau......then a knight came by and picked children from the village..children who were happy, children who loved, and children who stuck with the light..."She trailed off, obviously thinking of something sad that happened. "The knight came to me with a strange key-weapon and-"

Rokuxion interupt, "wait....a key-like weapon? and was the knight from this academy?"

"Ye...yeah, why do you ask?"she replied, looking at him suspiciously.

Rokuxion looked down and stopped walking. He collected his thouhts then kept walking, "Wel...my world was destroyed by the heartless...and when it did, knights came with those key-weapons..and so did the marquis.....why were they there, why are they gathering kids at this school to train them and make them strong warriors......and...whats the ruth behind a keyblade?"

Rila smirked and said,"Geez louiz Roku, thats so sad about your world......but you've been thinking bout this for awhile huh?"

Rokuxion smirked and said, "Yeah i guess.....but i asked these questions to the marquis and he just told me about the heartless, and very little things about the keyblade.......uggh..well....lets just get going to batle class."

"EEP" Rila cried, "WE'RE GONNA BE LATE!!"She then grabbed him and dragged him again.When they came to the gym they ran and sat down at the chairs when the teacher began talking.

"WElcome to battle school, I am Leutentant Hohn,and i will be teahcing you about the art of combat and everything you need to know about keyblades."

 

Hakumei turned his head to the left. He saw Rokuxion and some other girl sneaking into empty seats. He scowled, but decided it was probably nothing. Then, it hit him.

"Wait...he has the same class as me?" he thought for a while. His thoughts came to an end when a man wielding a key-shaped weapon came walking in. Hakumei's eyes widened at the sight of the weapon.

"How.....Where.....is this even possible?" he thought. He had never wielded a key-shaped weapon before. Only in his strange dreams of course.

"I'm pretty sure everyone here is thinking the exact same thing, Hakumei.." Mizu whispered to him out of nowhere. He turned his head to the Right.

"Yeah...I guess so..." he whispered back. The man wielding the key-shaped weapon looked at everyone.

"Welcome to battle school, I am Leutenant Hohn, and I will be teaching you the art of combat and everything you need to know about keyblades."

Hakumei scowled and looked at his desk with wondering eyes. "K-keyblades?" he muttered to himself. It was the word he had heard the voice say; in his dream.

 

Lieutenant Hohn waked by the rows of students and said,"now i know what your thinkng, and yes, this is a keyblade." He then held it up and waved it in the air slowly. Sudenly, he thenturned round and thrw it, hitting a target perfectly." Everyone but Rokuxion and some other students began to clap and cheer.Rokuxions last experience with a keyblade was something he wanted to forget, but somehow he knew that he would need to use that weapon again in the future.Hohn then held up one hand and the keyblade returned to his hand, which made everyone cheer again. The lieutenant called for silence and said,"listen...this is important...the keyblde chooses its masters...so we are going to train you and hope you are chosen..thos eof ou who aren't will weild broadswords and act as guards for this base, so do well...and stay true to the light.

Rokuxion and Rila turned to each other, then turned to look at the leiutenant who said, "now, tomorrow we will elarn of the keyblades power...but today....is sword practice, now everyone go grab a sword if you don't have one already and stand by a training dummy."

The students stood up and ran over to grab swords. Rokuxion got up and walked over to a dummy, grabbing his sword form his sheathe.Rila walked over with a rennaisance fencing-like sabre and stood next to Rokuxion. He looked over at her and said,"why do we need to learn how to fight..why do we need the keyblade?"

she shrugged and said,"I donno....its weird though..i feal like its my destiny to do so."

Rokuxion smiled and said, "Yeah..heh..i guess your right....but geez this is weird."

When everyone was at a dummy hohn stood up front and gripped his sword, both hands grabing the handle, to his left side, then to his right, leg sticking out depending on which side he stood at. He then said, "This is the basic enigmatic knight sword stance, if you hold it to your right, your right leg is out front and your left leg back, and vise versa now everyone get into this stance and give the dummy a good stab."

Rokuxion did so and stabbed the dummy through the chets, his sword connecting with a wooden pole. "Easy."he whispered to himslf.

when everyone waas done hohn would say, "good, now try a vertical slash."

THe studens then raised their swords and brought it down the dummies stomachs. For the passed 45 minutes Hohn commanded all sorts of stances and different slashes, and Rokuxion began to adapt to the stances and slices , and he already knew that this was his favorite class.

 

Hakumei grabbed a european blade from the rack and found his dummy. Mizu was using the other dummy near him. The teacher commanded them to do all sorts of stances and attacks. His body began to get the feel of each stance and movement.

"Man. This is....not bad. I think I can get used to this." he muttered as he swung his blade horizontally at the dummy. Straws were flying all over the place. He was sweating, but not as much.

After a while, he was able to predict which stance the Leutenant was going to announce. This was because he would say them in a pattern.

Mizu stabbed the dummy using a Jian. She was having a nice workout. She looked over at him and gave a friendly smile. He looked at her and smiled back.

"Man. When are we going to spar? I wanna get this over with already." he thought to himself as he swung the blade vertically this time.
