Did anyone else really feel like the ending was truly touching?

I, for one, still can't get tired of how damn good the ending is. Mixed with Utada's vocals, it's awesome. Especially during the credits start playing and you can hear the song "March Caprice" playing in the background.

Indeed, a very good ending. I couldn't help but cry the first few times I've seen it.

I concur. The ending was so Final Fantasy like in which Sora sacrifices his chance to return home with Kairi in order to save Riku and the King from their doom. And the secret ending when Sora, Donald and Goofy chase after Pluto left a good hopeful note.

"Remember Sora, you are the one who will open the door to the light."

The ending in Kingdom Hearts? No, the ending heavily confused me - where did Kairi randomly appear from?

I agree.I mean it was touching alright, but also kinda stupid.Sora goes through all that trouble just to save the world from heartless. But what about his own feelings...?

I loved the ending, it made me equally happy and sad at the same time. It leaves you feeling optimistic.

I just found it awfully random to have Kairi plop by in The End of the World when we clearly last her in Traverse Town. Yeah, the ending was cute and all - I'll give you that much - but this sort of inconsistency doesn't pass unnoticed for me. How the bloody hell she got there I'd never know.

Plus. I would've honestly preferred to see 10 minutes worth of CG graphics on the party-mates I've been struggling to defeat the game with, rather than a damsel-lacking-in-character-development who only woke up when I was through 90% of the game.

No not really ... i mean why didn't h or she just jump over ?
when i played first i was like Yes finally i defeated Ansem now he can get back to Kairi but no she had to appear somehow in the ends of the world and the ground had to break right between them =/

It was rather confusing, (how did Kairi get there?) but it was touching, and I almost cried the first time I saw it.

I was too busy bragging "I finished Kingdom Hearts I finished Kingdom Hearts"

    But it was really sentimental.

The ending to Kingdom Hearts was really random...like, they closed the door and all of the sudden Kairi's there (like everyone else said). I think Simple and Clean helped to even the ending out some and Kairi reminicing was touching but I think they should've shown a cutscene that explained how Kairi popped out of no where...

I was shaking, and happy, and almost crying and excited. It was such a collage of emotions.
Happiness cause I finished the game!
Sadness cause I finished the game!
And sad cause it was just sad ToT

I also found it sad that I sat through the ending credits (even though I didn't know there was a secret ending xP)

It was really touching. Two of the toughest guys I know almost cried when they saw the ending, especially when Kairi found Sora's alteration to the picture they drew. The music was well placed, you could feel what was going on really well, it was just great.

You know...it kind of bothered me that Sora was determined to let Kairi go back to Destiny Islands when she probably would have wanted to go with him and search for Riku. He also denied her the right to go with him to find Riku earlier in the game and left her at Traverse Town. Part of Kairi's wussiness in the game seems to be from Sora always telling her she can't do anything. She was seemingly only good enough to blow a whistle so the boys could race or to make sure she had the itinerary list of all the items that were needed to go on their little raft voyage. I was kind of glad to see Riku actually gave her a weapon and let her do things. Not sure why I had to point that out but it just didn't sit right with me.

Kairi was odd with her abilities and because she and Sora were linked, I guess that's why we can say she showed up there with him. I wish he would have just pulled her over with him but I assume that would have made things hard in CoM to do because of Namine being there so she was left behind for plot device. Sora wasn't going to go home because even though Riku had done some wrong things, in the end he -did- do them all for his friends really and at the very end he showed that by protecting Kairi and then helping Sora and motivating him on in the battle versus Ansem (Xeh's heartless). Sora had a friendship with Riku since they were at least 4 and 5 years old so of course he's like a brother to him. It was the right thing to do because if he went back to Destiny Islands, he may never have seen Riku again or known what happened to him and that kind of thing would build on anyone's conscience.

The ending was sad and yet hopeful and well, it let me know there were plans for further games. =:) I think the saddest moment for me was where Kairi touched the paopu fruit drawing in the cave that Sora had completed and she just discovered. It makes me tear up each time I see it. The music was also excellent and it was all well done, as someone else mentioned, in the Final Fantasy way of ending a tale.
