The Demon Slayers vs. the Demons

"I understand if you don't want to say, but can I ask what happened to your first girlfriend? You sound so sad."

Ceri realised that she may have asked a question that Kyle would not be prepared to answer.

 

He took a deep breath and said "One year ago, after I had finally tracked Cloudroth down, I ran into her. Now she had thought I was dead because Cloudroth stabbed me after he was created. She was so happy and so was I. Then, Cloudroth came right up behind her and sliced her head off right in front of me." Tears flowed freely down his cheeks. He saw that day so clearly in his mind, it was like it happened yesterday.

 

Ceri sat up and put her arms around him. She never wanted to upset him this much. It seemed that he had suffered so much. She kissed his forehead and whispered "Let all the pain out. I'm here with you. You've carried the burden alone for too long."

 

He hugged her and cried in her arms. "I'm going to kill him no matter what."

 

"I'll be fighting at your side. I'm so sorry I upset you."

Ceri rested her head against him and held him while he cried. She realised how much he loved his first girlfriend and felt awkward that she was in the shadow of this perfect woman. Ceri was more than aware of her flaws. She would always be second best, standing in the shadows. 'Is this what I need or want?' she thought.

 

He sat back up and wiped his tears. "I'm sorry." he said, "You must be feeling pretty awkward. I just want you to know that I care for you just as much as I cared for her, maybe even more. So don't think or feel like you need to compete with her."

Ceri looked at him. How did he work out what she was thinking? She still felt uncomfortable. Words couldn't wipe away that feeling.

 

OOC: Psssst, what can I write? Nobody is around Philippe right now....ah well.

 

OOC: No, he can sort of 'sense' feelings or emotions.

BIC: He could tell she still felt uncomfortable. He got up and went to the door. He looked back and said "You were my first kiss." He walked out the door.

 

That made things even worse. He had kept his first girlfriend on a pedestal. Ceri was the fallible one. She groaned and threw herself against the pillow. She sent out a psychic message.

'Philippe, Darkeon, anyone? Please answer. I would like a calm sane person to communicate with. I have so many questions and few answers.'

 

He felt bad for leaving, but he didn't know what else to do. "I should have never talked about her." he said.

 

Ceri hugged the pillow. 'Great, I'm second best to a perfect dead girlfriend. He tells me how wonderful she was then leaves. So much for the caring guy act.'

She threw her things into a bag and levitated out through the window.

On the bag she had left a note that read 'Thanks for everything, but I'm not competing with an impossible memory. It was fun. So long and thanks for all the fish!'

She drove off not caring where she went.

 

Something was wrong. He went back to her room and found the note. "Oh no." he said, after reading it. He jumped out the window and ran after her, following his nose.

Ceri put her foot down. She needed to escape. This was a nightmare. Had something like this happened before? She realised that she had left the diary behind. It no longer had any relevance to her. She needed to be on her own for a while.

 

He ran at full speed. He saw her car in the distance. Ceri, please stop! he thought out to her.

 

He wouldn't quit. Was he trying to torture her or something? She answered with one word.

'Why?'

 

Because, you've got it all wrong. You're not second place. I care more about you than I cared for her. Please, I don't want you to leave.

 

Ceri slowed the car and turned around. 'I must be mad' she thought, not caring who picked up the message. She drove back to the castle. on the way back she saw Kyle and stopped.

 

"You're coming back?" he asked, getting in.

 

Philippe stopped suddenly. Ceri? I must be mad? I wonder where that thought came from?

Hey Ceri, are you alright?
