"Sorry." he said, looking away. "I didn't mean to make you angry."

 

"I'm sorry. I'm not sure what I think at the moment. Do you love me?"

"I ummm.........I'm not really sure. You see, I have these feelings for you, but I still can't get over my girlfriend's death. I'm not sure if it would be an insult to her memory or not. It's just so complicated."

"So I'm an insult huh! Thanks. That brought me down to earth with a bang. I'll be elsewhere if you need me."

Ceri walked out of the room and ran out of the castle.

 

"Wait! That's not what I meant!" he said, hitting the ground because she dropped him.

 

Ceri sat on the damp grass and stared at the rooftops. What sort of answer was that? She rested her head on her knees. Oh well, back to the same old Ceri.

 

Ceri. he thought, trying to contact her.

 

'WHAT' Ceri could even shout telepathically. She felt guilty after but concluded that it was worth it.

 

I'm sorry, I wasn't saying you were an insult. What I meant was, I'm not sure if us dating or doing anything like that would be an insult to her memory. Please forgive me, I really care about you.

 

'Don't worry. I'm ok. I know exactly where I stand. You won't get asked again.' Ceri wondered if the removal of the curse was a good thing after all. She certainly felt like killing someone.

 

I am truly sorry. If things had turned out differently, then we might have been able to be toghether. Who knows, it may still be possible. At least, I hope it is. He started crying a little.

 

Ceri shook her head. Was she the only one brave enough to face the future? He could stay in the past for all she cared. She went for a walk to clear the air. If he tried to call her again she'd ignore him. She wasn't his pet dog to be called to heel.

 

He just lay there, unable to move, still crying. "She hates me." he said to himself.

 

Ceri remembered that Kyle was still paralysed. She cursed at having a conscience. Running back into the castle she raced up to the room.

"What the heck are you crying for?"

She lifted him up and placed him on the bed.

 

"Nothing." he lied. "Are you mad at me?"

 

"I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at myself for thinking you could hold feelings for me. By the way, nobody cries for no reason. If we are going to be proper friends then we should at least be honest with each other."
