The Demon Slayers vs. the Demons

Cloudroth lay floating in darkness, healing himself.

Kyle had a nightmare about his dead girlfriend and woke up.

 

Ceri was furious. Where was Darkeon? She took out her frustration on the nearest tree with her axes.

 

He got up and went over to her. "Is something the matter?" he asked.

 

"I'm fine, just peachy" she growled. She turned to face him. "So what woke you up? You sleep pretty deeply."

 

"I had a nightmare."

 

Ceri looked concerned. She knew the powers of the mind.
"Want to talk about it?"

 

"Not really. It was about my dead girlfriend." he said, a single tear running down his cheek.

 

She patted his shoulder gently. "If you ever feel like talking I'm here."
She had seen glimpses and knew this was a delicate subject. She didn't tell him what she had seen in his mind as she felt that this would be cruel.

 

"Did you see anything about her?" he asked, "When you were in my mind, I mean?"

 

Ceri blushed. "Shattered images mainly. She was very beautiful. You must have really loved her."

 

"I did." he said, trying to keep more tears from falling. "It never should have happened! Cloudroth should have never been born! It's all my fault!" he said, punching a tree till it turned to dust.

 

"Calm down. Please tell me what happened. It can't be you fault. Cloudroth is a demon, you are not. He is the cause of this not you."

Ceri hugged him gently, allowing him to cry out his pain.

 

"I am the cause of this." he said, crying in her arms. "I created that monster! And ever since, he's been killing the one's I love."

 

"That can't be. He looks older than you. I think I need to hear the whole story. Things don't add up. You have perceived this version of reality and are blaming yourself for situations beyond your control. Can either of you manage temporal travel?"

 

"I don't know what that is. All I know is that one year ago I created him as a videogame villan and somehow he escaped, stabbed me, and started killing everyone I knew!"

 

"It's probably not that simple. Demons are created on another plane, not in video games. You've been taken in by the media lies. Cloudroth was around way before that. The game must have summoned him somehow. You aren't to blame. He latched onto you as the unwitting summoner. He's been following you ever since, bound to you and angry. We need to break the summons."

 

"That's not true. I designed him. I gave him his personality. It was all me!" He fell to his knees, weeping.

 

"You gave him a behavior template that he has to follow. Wow, you really are hung up on the guilt thing. Listen Kyle. I come from generations of demon slayers. I think I have some idea what I'm saying. You'll never beat him as long as you believe that trash. You have to accept that you are not to blame. He has a hold over you at the moment due to your ideas. Lets try the pre-school explanation. Kyle is one person. Cloudroth is a different person. They live in different places. They are different. They are not the same. Understand?"

 

"I understand but that doesn't mean I didn't create him. Even he admits it!"

 

darkeon monitered ceri and kyle's conversation through meditation. "if i kill him" he thought "it will eventualy break her spirit. she cares about him to much and he is weak and near the edge." he laughed. "maybe i can turn him into a demon. he can be one of my knights." he thought.
