The Demon Slayers vs. the Demons

"So which room are you putting me in this time?" Ceri didn't want one of the cold hotel-like bedrooms. She would rather sleep downstairs on a couch.

 

"Well, your old room is still available, or you could choose a different room. It's your choice."

 

Ceri started singing "Welcome to the Hotel California...." she muttered most of the words but sang the one line clearly "You can check out any time you like but you can never leave...." A mischievous grin appeared. "Only if I can redecorate it."

 

"Sure you can." he said, wondering what she was planning.

 

Ceri dumped the bags on the bed and kissed Kyle. "You wait and see. I will have this looking better in no time, but I won't be able to stay in there while everything is drying. I'll sleep on the sofa that night. I'm going to start as soon as possible. I'm sure you have plenty to do."

 

"Nonsense! You can have my room while it is drying and I'll take the couch."

"I'll go release Natalie, she should be done healing now."

 

Ceri grinned and unloaded the paint that she had hidden. She had got permission to decorate her room in the farmhouse, but now she could really go wild. Deep purples and rich reds were obvious. She shut the door and set to work. 'You are not sleeping on the couch, I will; unless I have a camp bed at the foot of your bed. I'm the one painting the room.'

 

"Or we could share the bed like we did one time." he suggested.

 

"If you are happy with that, I'm fine with it. I just didn't want to intrude on your privacy. I'll check your shower is ok as well." Ceri smiled, pleased that Kyle was not keeping his distance from her.

 

"Thank you and I am fine with it. Now, if there is nothing else you wish to say, I'd like to get Natalie out of that tube."

 

Ceri went to work on the painting. Kyle wouldn't have noticed the extra bags she brought back, men didn't note these things. She used her speed to rush through it, and while the paint dried she went outside and began sawing wood into different lengths and drilling holes. Taking them inside and shutting the door again she started to build what she wanted. The room would look a lot different.

 

He went down to the lab and looked at Natalie, who had completely healed. He pushed a few buttons and the liquid drained out. Then the tube opened up.

 

Ceri stopped and looked at what she had done. There was nothing to do now until all the paint dried. She sneaked into Kyle's room and showered, putting on her bathrobe and wandering into the hall drying her hair.

 

He removed the needle from her arm and took the mask off her. He picked her up and carried her upstairs.

 

Ceri stood in the corridor and watched Kyle with curiosity. He was definitely up to something. So Natalie had been in the machine. What exactly had it done to her?

 

"Do you have a question?" he asked.

 

"I'm just curious as to what the machine does. Are you reading my mind as I said nothing? It's very rude you know to read people's minds without their permission."

 

"I can't read minds. You just looked like you had a question you wanted to ask. And to answer that question, it gives demon blood to people critically injured/ dying people. That is how I had become a half demon."

 

"Curious. Where does the demon blood come from? I don't see demons queuing up to donate."

 

"To be honest, I don't know." he said.
