Although I still cannot get over how much you have told me in regards to Nomura's preference to characters!

I have thought of this before. I think that maybe since their roles are not too big Square just did not mention them...

 

Somehow I doubt Nomura would kill off the famillies of the main characters in a T rated game >_>

 

It could be possible that their parents are dead.

I mean have you ever heard Sora, Riku, or Kairi say anything about missing their parents, well actually they have never mentioned their parents. However, they are always saying that they want to see each other. You'd think that if your world got swallowed in darkness that you would be concerned about whether your parents were okay.

 

I wouldn't think that their parents are dead(well at least Sora's mom)

Before the Heartless attacked Destiny Islands in KH1,You could clearly hear Sora's mom calling him to 'come for dinner'. O.o
Besides,if their parents were dead,then,like how Repliku said,would have a huge burden to have. :\

 

Oh you're right about Sora's mom, I had forgotten that part. Haven't played KH1 in many years. ^^; But if you think about it, Kairi only had her grandmother (I don't think they were blood related, but correct me if I am wrong), so ya know Riku and Sora may have had foster parents, which could explain the seemingly lack of affection they have for their parents.

 

Maybe Nomura decided 'not' to give their parents a huge role in the game because otherwise it would just ruin the story. Besides, maybe the Trio didn't bother worrying for their parents/care-takers because they already knew that they were alright? You could supposedly argue that everyone from Destiny Island came back from wherever they were taken to, e.g. Tidus and Wakka.

 

This is kind of off topic but I wish they would have shown Tidus and Wakka in KH2. D:

Just because they arent shown doesnt mean they are dead.

 

Uh, Tidus and Wakka were mentioned in KH2 so there shouldn't be any doubts about whether or not they are alive. Selphie said to Kairi, something about Tidus and Wakka hanging out together after school.

Anyways the point is that the parents in KH are never mentioned. Except for Sora's mom who called him to dinner, we aren't sure if Kairi and Riku have biological parents that are still alive. I was pretty sure however, that Kairi's parents were dead or abandoned her or something like that, that is why she was living with her grandmother (I'm not sure if she is her biological grandmother though, does anyone know?)

 

Maybe someone told their parents that Sora and Riku have a great journey, so they don`t worry?0.o And Riku HAS the family. Remember in * I don`t remember where =D* somebody * I don`t remember who * told Riku, that he destroyed islands, betrayed friends and family! *but I wish his parents died long time ago... I dunno why, but he does not that character, that must be with his family 0.0*

 

This was about FAMILY,not the kids. I said Tidus because we never saw him.

 

I know this is about the family. I just mentioned the kids because it didn't make sense to use them in the way you did because even though we didn't see them we knew they were alive. For the families, we do not see them AND we do not necessarily know whether they are alive or not.

Well, I think Kairi was adopted by the mayer, because Riku said something about her arriving the "night of the meteor shower" or something.

Sora's parents were probably worried sick until their memories of Sora vanished.

Nah, Repliku and I (mostly him) already sorted it.

This is the time frame:

Sora lives happily with parents.
Island gets lost to darkness, along with parents. Sora is saved and out of DI. When in darkness, the parents have no concious thought.
Sora revives worlds, parents come back. There is a day's timespan where Sora's/Riku's parents are on the island and remember the kids.
Sora looses memory and goes into a coma. Parents and such forget about him and Riku.
Namine fixes memory. Sora needs to see people to get them to remember him.
Sora goes around visiting people.
Sora goes home.
Sora's parents remember.

See? Only a day or so time frame where Sora's parents can worry.

 

That does make a lot of sense. I'd have to agree with that.
