The Day the Earth Stood Still

I haven't seen it yet. It looks like it has the potential to be really good or hideously awful.

 

What is up w/ all these movies when weird stuff happens to the Earth or whatever?
So is Keanu Reeves the 'alien'?

I think this whole "OMG, the world's gonna end in 2012!" business is giving filmmakers something to play off of.

 

I thought it was pretty good, though my dad, who saw the original, says they cut out quite a few elements of the story, but I dunno if they just modernized the story or wrote a new one with the basic elements.

Also, the kid is annoying.

 

The original, if my memory is correct, was surrounding the use of nuclear bombs and it's harm on the world. This one from what i've heard, is us destroying the world and a warning for us to stop.

I'm actually debating to see this tonight. I like these sci-fi movies, and Keanu Reeves is one of my favorite actors.

In response to all the movies turning to the end of the world, it's been happening alot for a number of years, so i'm not suprised to see this, 2012, the Knowing, etc. I like watching other peoples interpretation on the end of the world and what/if we can stop it.

I heard it was absolutely terrible..

 

I plan to see this just for the sake of it, i'm interested in stories like this.

 

Maybe i'lll go see it, maybe not.....it just looks different then anything else in theaters here at the moment.

 

Saw it. Don't waste your money- go see 4 Christmases, it was actually pretty good.

 

i was thinkin about watchen that movie until i heard the movie sucked so ill watch some other one i guess

 

I heard 4 Christmases was terrible, so if you thought that was good and the film in disscussion was bad well its not looking to good for itself.

 

It looks almost like a better version of War of the Worlds. This seems to have potential, but I'm not sure if it has the best plot in the world.I might go to see it.

 

I don't know if I'll see this or not. I'll probably just wait till it comes out on DVD.

 

The first half did suck, but it ended well, though... it was pretty chaotic...
All I'm saying is that it's better than The Day the Earth Stood Still xD
