I loved Spyro the Dragon:) was my first Playstation 1 game way back in the good 'ol days.

    Original Series-
    1. Spyro the Dragon

    2. StD:Ripto's Rage!

    3. StD:Year of the Dragon

    4. StD:Enter the Dragonfly

    5. StD:A Hero's Tail

    6. StD: Shadow Legacy

    Legend of Spyro Series-
    1. LoS: A New Beginning

    2. LoS: The Eternal Night

    3. LoS: Dawn of the Dragon

    Then the Spinoffs-
    1. Spyro: Season of Ice

    2. Spyro 2: Season of Flame

    3. Spyro: Attack of the Rhynocs

    4. Spyro Orange: The Cortex Conspiracy

    and the new Skylanders series-
    1.Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure(released 2011, havent seen it.)

My favorite were the original 3. 'Nuff said. Great games, but like most that go too long with no interesting storys, they degrade real fast.

Which ones were your favorite? Explain why. (wow, sounded like an Enlish test short answer...)

It went downhill after the First three in my opinion. The Second game is my all-time favorite in the series. I possibly couldn't go any further than that :P

It did go downhill somewhat with Enter the Dragonfly, but I still enjoyed it. However, once A Hero's Tail was released, it started going uphill again.

As for the games themselves, Spyro the Dragon, the first one in the series, was good. It was kind of weird seeing Sparx's head bigger than his body, which was later fixed.

An interesting piece of trivia: The ending theme for the The Amanda Show was a remix of the music from the Wizard Peak level.

For the second one, that was pretty cool, especially learning all of those abilities.

Now, the third one, that was my favorite, mostly due to the fact that the player could control Spyro, Sparx, and several other characters.

Other Spyro games I own include:

    • Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly
    • Spyro: A Hero's Tail
    • The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning
    • The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night

Now i only owned 1 through 4. I love the first three terribly!! the first rpg i've ever played!!!

Enter the Dragonfly was kinda cool, i liked the new breathing abilities. but i didn't like how there were not as many short worlds, they only had like 15 worlds total in that game whereas the first 3 had like 10 in each main world. (so a heck of a lot more!!) i never played 5, saw it in a blockbuster's renting section, and never saw a copy since. (bout 7 years?)

I really should find it if you say its good, Amaury, i noticed there was a new character (well at the time and for me, dont know him) that was climbing up a wall like Knuckles from Sonic.

I dont like the LoS look, it's really not the way it was, i liked the way his horns looked in the original, suited him better.
BTW, was the voice actors the same or not? if it's not, then im never gonna play the LoS series.

I played the first five games, season of ice/fire, a new beginning, and the eternal night.
In my opinion the first three, and hero's quest, are the best of the best. They are challenging, have great music, are a blast to play, and they last for more than one sitting! Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly was Spyro's first game on the PS2, and it sucked. A new beginning was way too short in my opinion. It was kind of like the first Sly Cooper game which had great music, controls, and story, but it only lasted one sitting.

In the newer series I did not like the idea of sparks the dragonfly talking. What do you guys think?
I kind of found Spark annoying in "Eternal Night". He acted like a wimpy sidekick with a lot of mouth. Daxter, from "Jak and Daxter" was a great wimpy sidekick because he was funny and you could relate to him about being in a smaller position by accident. Sparks on the other hand wajust plain vexing.

Spyro 2 :Ripto's Rage was the best game of the Spyro Compilation games. Hands Down. It fixed the annoying Triangle button command from the first game and also gave you additional abilities like climbing and swimming. Swimming probably being the best additional ability to be added( It was horrible to see Spyro drown in the first game). Dragon Shores was waaayy better than Gnasty's Loot due to the fact you could replay movies and have superfire up power!! (which came in handy for the skill points ;) The rest of the games after the 3rd one... eh

Technically speaking, the triangle button making Spyro drop in the first game was intentional, as he was just a baby, meaning he didn't know how to hover yet.

Hahaa yeah when i played 2 and 3, and then go back to 1, i naturally press triangle to hover. But i soon remember that he merely drops in that one. Lolz!
