It is impossible to say who best band is, Peoples tastes differentiate.
    But I will say:

    Passion Pit
    Metallica
    Beastie Boys
    Xiu Xiu
    Coldplay.

Ok I guess I just put down a playlist of mine. xD

But really, I imagine alot of people to come will say The Beatles.

I forgot Queen! How could I?

Jimmy Page and Robert Plant. There is no such thing as Led Zeppelin. We all know who made that band badass. Mainly Page but Plant's vocals were much more appealing than just about every other bands' singers at the time. Jimmy Page and Robert Plant should be considered a band. XD

Other than that...Metallica, Godsmack, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are honorable mentions.

I am so on-and-off with Xiu Xiu, one moment I love them and another they freak me out. Especially that one Support Our Troops song, oh god.

But I can't say I have an all-time favorite band ever. It all depends on what I'm in the mood for. I guess if I had to give an answer though it'd be Los Campesinos!, just because We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed is an incredible album.

The Beatles and Metallica. I would say AC/DC, but their music is...eh. Kind of. They're not a bad band, but I wouldn't really call them the best band ever. And same goes for most of the bands today.

It really depends on what you're looking for in a band. If you want pure shredding guitars, dexterious keyboarding, and super-chop drumming, then Dream Theater (or Liquid Tension Exeripement), would probably be the best in that category. Not to mention all of those people are beyond technically proficient.

However, if I had to pick one band out of the crop as having been the 'best,' I'd have to go with Queen, for the sheer variety of what they did. Queen has always been a band I can listen to without hearing even a hint of one song in another. They just put out something different each time, so far as I've been aware.

Death Magnetic? That album? It was decent I guess but their older stuff was much better. Master of Puppets, Call of the Ktulu, Fade to Black, Nothing Else Matters, Orion...I'm not a massive fan of theirs but they really were cooler back in the day...before I was even born. XD

I'm currently just resisting to go on a Zeppelin rant but I don't listen to enough of their stuff. I practically only listen to two songs from them(Stairway to Heaven being one of them).

I'm actually glad people haven't said Iron Maiden...<<

In my opinion, Dream Theater, Dark Tranquillity, Kamelot, RED, or Biomechanical (simply because they sound awesome ;-; ).

    My favorite bands:
Cauterize. I don't know many people who like them, but they're just amazing in my opinion. Their songs aren't always the same, rhythm-wise and they're just so agho8eiygeiuhgegfekagka fantastic.
Linkin Park. I don't care what the haters say. I love all Linkin Park songs, except for What I've Done. I've always considered them one of the best bands out there.

    I am a fan of
Paramore- I like the lyrics and the music just makes you want to rock and feel empowered about yourself.
Go Radio-Best.Lyrics.Ever. OK so that's my personal opinion. But their lead singer and songwriter is amazingly talented. Especially his slow songs simply make you want to love somebody.
Jonas Sees In Color-I found these guys recently, but so far so good. The lyrics are quite good and their music as a certain sort of coffee house vibe to it that makes want to relax.
My favorite bands are ever changing but currently these are the top 3.

While this is totally subjective, I can't believe your choices >>

And A.F.I. is giving a concert here at the end of the month 8D
but I won't be in town.

I've also been wondering to everyone here:
    What about favorite individual artist?
Like a lone singer, rapper, etc?
Or even someone from a band that you think is just monumental?

That's exactly what this thread is. It's not about the best band(although there's always bias). Technically speaking most of the bands people here have listed kinda suck. I'm not saying the music sucks, it's just that bands like Linkin Park/RED/Nickleback/The Jonas Brothers/*Insert most mainstream artists here* don't have much too much technical skill. Of course, if all that mattered was technical skill, everybody would love Buckethead. Bands/artists make up for a lack of technical skill with just mixing things in that make a song sound good, like Linkin Park...they know how to please a crowd without an amazing display of musicianship.

I wonder if you could define the "best band" as the band that's made the most money. Anyways, that's beside the point I guess.

Hm...as for my favorite individual artists(I don't really like lone musicians, I prefer bands)...

Guitarist: Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin
Singer: Ben Burley(I think I spelt his name right) from Breaking Benjamin
Drummer: ...Too many to choose from. D:
Bassist: Whoever was the bassist in the Red Hot Chili Peppers. <<

RED is most definitely not a mainstream band. Most people I talk to have never heard of them.

    That being said;
    RED
Rise Against - They have been around for a while but they never really had an album that sucked.
Yellowcard - I love the fiddle/violin. Unique sound.
I Fight Dragons - Enough said.

Jimmy Tamborello, of The Postal Service/DNTEL/Figurine fame.
I'm no musician, but I don't see how that could be true. They had to get popular somehow. Yes, there might not be much to their music now that they've gotten big, but that's not to say that every mainstream artist has no technical skill at all.
