Yeah, we can debate all we want till we type our fingers off, and there's nothing that will become of it.

Oh trust me, I've heard many o' times. I've also seen a bit of it through the buried threads. But just because the former glory has faded, does not mean one day it shan't be refurbished. Little activity is better than no activity, however.

Ah, time takes it's toll, eh?

This man knows his salt, but I also believe that time irrelevant to value. Amaury has been here forever, for example. People who have been here longer have had more of a chance to gain rep, so even if your posts are worthless, you still have more of a chance of getting premium just because you have been around a long time. That isn't fair to better members who happen to be relatively new, and devalues rep itself. If anything, getting more rep in a shorter time is to be rewarded rather than getting more rep within a year.

It is not as easy to abuse as posts are. At least with rep, you have to spread more of it, and you can only rep so many times in a day. With posting, there is no limit to the number of posts you can make, in a day or otherwise, as long as they do not break any rules. If you want to talk about the potential for abuse, then you are looking in the wrong place. The main complaint against the current premium standard is that posts are being abused and that rep will be harder to abuse than the current system. No one is saying that it cannot or will not be abused. What they are saying is that post count is the most abused standard to date. If you feel that it will be easier to abuse than post count, then please present an argument for that.

Yes, exactly. Rep would be more difficult to amass, even if you had help, and help itself is difficult to amass at that.

A short essay entitled, 'Why I should be Premium' should be included with the current requirements.

    Plus 50 francs.

It's still in the works. It's not something that's been discarded. It just got stuck at the moment and it's out of our hands. But hopefully we can work that out soon.

The wayback machine is over the other way, dude. I guess there is a smidge of truth to what you say, obviously. But you're probably not looking at the community in-depth enough if you think it's dead.

Btw, Kitty ate all the tapioca from the nursing home.

I think what they're saying is that there should be a time requirement. Not necessarily just that. But to use it as a certain threshold.

Personally I think a minor rep and time requirement, and then the post requirement would be somewhat more complete. But that's just me. And it'd be asking a lot considering privileges aren't that much. I guess it's something to work on ;>

I use to complain about Premiums being 'superior' to the regular members and the Staff at the time also being abusive of their powers.
These days, I say this isn't the case. You don't need to be a premium to act superior to others.

There own much of an Issue, Prems get the bonus of a prem only section which is barely active apart from the odd thread which barely ever acknowledges the forum in a negative or critical manner. We also get the chance to apply for Staff, but I don't know anyone who got Staff this way, except a couple. Also get the chance to put two images in our SUVs and use a bigger avatar, not by much though. Oh and we can change our Usernames every week or so, though for most it's not too often.

To be honest, it's not worth changing the requirements in my eyes, since it's still obtainable even if I still have gripes with it.

@Vivi: The site may have been more active years ago, but it didn't mean the quality and friendliness of the members was any good. I honestly think the lat few years we've had some of the best overall community of members that we ever have had so far. I still wish for more of the people I knew were still active, but like real life I've left friends behind too and will likely continue to do so. It's nice to have found some that I will still talk to in years to come and I take comfort in that.

Above and beyond the rest of this, I felt that it was declining rapidly soon after I joined. I am not certain of what community you are talking, but we have lost a lot of old members and the community is not as close-knit as it was. Most threads are overrun with pointless spam, events are less organized and the morale for them has lessened, and discussions are scarce without me around. Could you please explain what you mean by "community"?
