Decided to try doing some art in the Okami style. For now it's just art from Okami, kind of as practice, but I love all the characters anyway. xD
All pieces are done in ink and Sharpies (for colour, which is why some colours might be a bit off); CnC is appreciated.
Still don't have a working scanner.

Excellent job! It almost looks like the offical art. Maybe could you do Oki in wolf form?

I do use the official art book as a reference, but it's all hand done, no tracing. I wouldn't even risk marking up my book by tracing it anyway. xD
Thanks, and that's actually the sketch I had intended to ink tonight, but my art assignment caught up with me.
...Though I did it in the Okami style. >>

It's a mask, though it has more symbolism than just that. But thanks.

These are actually really good, it's often difficult to get drawings to look neat if you're using felt-tips like sharpies but I think you pulled it off.

I'm quite fond of the first and final one in particular.

These are some of the most awesome Okami related fanart I've seen thus far. They make me want to play Okami again.

Who will you be doing next?

Yeah, I've been meaning to stop by Staples to get more Sharpies.
    And thanks.

Thank you, that's what I hope to inspire. xD
The series really does need more love. D:

And according to the Spam Zone poll I put up yesterday, I drew this.

    Foxfire [Ninetails]

Note that I don't have the right colour for the fox part, but the brushes and sword I did.
And I don't really have any idea wtf the tails are doing. The four in the front are supposed to be coming out of the ground.

Oh, such memories of the game. My primary comment is that the usage of marker has quite fluently captured the aesthetics of Okami's Ukiyo-e art. Excellent job, madam.

That's really what I was trying to perfect. I may buy a real brush set next time I'm in Chinatown. >>

    Yeah, the minor distortions and things are probably because I tend to do this late at night, might try a few during the day to see if there's any difference. xD;;

Take gave me trouble until I got a bunch of Karmic Reflectors, then just spammed those so he couldn't inflict any damage. xDD

    But thank you.

And now...here's Issun, both magnified and normal sized.

Let me comment on the last drawing you posted.

I realize thhat character, "Issun", is a short character, but in my humble opinion you handled his scale wrong. You drew him vertically to the page, and as a result you were worrying if he would come out too short or too tall for the paper. I have a feeling you did this to have free space for his cape and the circle & star (or whatever that is) around him right? You could do it vice-versa, because the character is the main drawing target, and the rest is secondary, so you should focus on him more and have more space for him rather than the other objectives.
That's all just a thought, it could be worse if you had done it the way I explained.

    Anyways...
I checked some other drawings of that character floating around in the internet, and some official ones. Honestly, this is the best and most original I've seen.
The outlines are fascinating. In this particular "Okami" drawing style, which comes from the Chinese drawing styles, the outlines play a important role to keep the originality in it. You gotta know how to handle the pencil, otherwise you will end up screwing up the drawing.

You also did a good job on the colours. You could have made him a little less redish though, and also, leave on purpose some very little blanks in the parts you were drawing, so it doesn't look that loustrous and resplendent. It has to have this dark, nebulous... tenebrous feeling. Not in an aggresive sense though.

As I said, in his body the only thing that bugs me is that he's kinda not well-scaled. His hands, head, legs are very nice, (his neck is not perfect but it's just a neck), if you could give more attention on porpotions next time, it would be great.

What else? Ah yes, the background. You could add that effect there... and I don't know how it's called :P The one that, you draw continuous zig zag lines, to fill an empty space or to make a drawing more shady.

I think that's all I had to say.
    I would give it a 86/100.

That's the scale for Okami. It's not proportionate.
    For example:
    http://www.gamesbasement.co.uk/userfiles/image/Okami 2.jpg

Issun is literally the size of a bug in the game; the "star" you mentioned would be his actual size. The main image is "magnified". And I'm leaving all of them without backgrounds, since I don't think that I can pull off the effect of a correct setting with sharpies. They're also drawn on normal sketchbook paper, and not watercolour paper, and watercolours would be ideal for colouring them.
    But thanks.

Anyway...drew Sleepy (the bear) last night, will post later today once I colour him. xD

    Wrong image. That's Waka.

Anyway, I think you did a excellent job on drawing Issun. I especially like how you used very clear detail, even in his little size.

Yes, I know it's Waka, as I said it was just an example. >>

    And thanks.
I might consider getting thin sharpies now because of some of the detail. xD

Anyway, Sleepy's coloured now, and here he is.
