The only thing, the only thing, that doesn't look completely amazing about this reboot (see what I did there?), is Lizard.

I'll get it over it of course, but I still wish they made his snout longer. Y'know, like this.

I just watched the trailer before The Avengers...and I'm disappointed. It doesn't even seem to follow the general plot of spiderman. And is that girl with the blond hair supposed to be Falicia Hardy? And why does the Lizard come from some guy who has both arms, BOTH arms. Isn't the whole thing behind it that the guy becomes the lizard because he injects himself with something to give him back his arm? Not too mention, he seems to be a bad guy right from the start. I'm not sure I'm looking forward to this movie, but I'd watch it just for the sake of seeing it

Do you know the general plot of Spider-Man? The blonde chick was Spider-Man's first love interest, Gwen Stacy, not Mary Jone Watson. Curt Connors (The Lizard) had both of his arms, but loses one through amputation from an injury (explosion helping G.I.'s in the war is the regular version). Obviously, its been covered that Peter Parker originally had web-slinging through the wrist thingies, so there's that too.

I must agree with everyone about Lizard's face. He kinda looks like The Thing from the Fantastic 4 or some type of mutated monkey with that face. That is the only thing I find wrong about it. But other then that I think it would be a great Summer movie along with Batman.
A great reviewer once said, "not to compare the Avengers, Spiderman, and Batman because they all stand on their own two feet." :B

I know all about the wrist-web slinger things. I guess I get them doing that, but why is it that Spider-man is even public enemy number 1? I don't get it. Not too mention, did they even mention his parents in any of the past stuff? Hasn't it always been his Aunt May, and some Uncle Ben here and there? I just don't get it. And I didn't read the comics, I watched the 1994 spider-man tv series. Nothing more than that

Public authorities are generally against the idea of vigilante justice, because the individual's idea of what justice counts as can be radically different (and unacceptable) compared to society's definition. They don't know if Spider-Man really is doing what he does because its right or if he has an ulterior motive, and I completely understand their cautions about letting a superhuman that can web-sling across the city and crawl on walls and ceilings run around doing whatevs.

I don't know that much about the whole parents thing, but apparently, in the Ultimate universe (which the film may be getting some inspiration from), Peter's dad was recruited by Nick Fury into a team of scientists trying to recreate the Super Soldier Serum that Captain America got, and I remember playing the Ultimate Spider-Man game, (Ultimate) Peter's dad was trying to create like a symbiotic suit to cure decease (Project Venom) with Eddie Brock's dad.

Got into an early showing today. It was pretty decent. Tobey Maguire is still a better Spider-Man, but Andrew Garfield still held his own. I'm not sure if was because I was younger, but the first Spider Man was much more memorable for me. So yeah, all in all, great movie, but not as good as it's predecessors.

Saw this last night. I liked this one a whole lot more than the other ones with Toby. This one was stuck close to the comic books with a few changes. Garfield was better than toby in my opinion. Garfield brought out spiderman's cocky attitude better than what toby did. Gwen Stacy > Mary Jane in the movies. I hope Andrew continues to play spider-man in further amazing spiderman movies and avengers in the future.

    So I saw it yesterday.

It was quite good, and I love the supporting cast (Dennis Leary as Captain Stacy, Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy), but I feel like they spent way too much time with pre-Spider-Man Peter's backstory, which was barely touched on anyway once the Lizard come into play.

Andrew looks so much better with the Spider-Man getup than Tobey ever did, but I really wish he did more smart-ass taunting with the Lizard (since he only had, what, the car thief to fight in the suit before that, and that was awesome). And that crane scene....just dumb, like they needed to fill in 5 more minutes with something.

I was kinda annoyed how they kept referencing the famous quote "With great power comes great responsibility" but they never said it straight-out, as if to say "Yeah, we know you know it, but we're not using it because that would make sense". And is it just me, or does Spider-Man spend like, half the time in his suit without his mask on? We get it, Andrew is wearing the suit, put your damn mask on.

Really fun and pretty good, but they could have done it better. Still, look forward to the inevitable trilogy.

I'm going to see this tonight, looking forward to it. Even though I think Andrew is too good looking to be Spiderman, the fact that he is good looking will no doubt will boost my viewing experience :P

EDIT: I loved it! So Itt was fantastic. The 3D, the special effect, amazing. Sadly no JJJ, but if they couldn't have JK Simmons better to not have the character at all. He is literally the only person who would be able to play him. Garfield was fantastic. I know I had all these worries about him being too good looking, but he took the part so well, that didn't bother me. In fact he was the epitome of the awkward, gangly, nerdy teen that Peter Parker is supposed to be. But incredibly cute. He was, in a word, Adorkable. I kinda liked how they never outright said the cliche 'With great Power' line', I think the original films overused it so much it would have just been a giant cringe moment.
Now the music. It was... good in it's own right. But my gosh, James Horner certainty likes to recycle his themes. He used the Titanic soundtrack, pretty much. Now, fantastic and beautiful as that soundtrack is, it's so iconic to it's own film that hearing it over another is just so jarring, it's downright distracting. I had images of the Titanic pulling away from dock on her Maiden voyage while Spider-Man was supposed to be swinging around, and it was just weird.

Overall opinion? Great film all round, I enjoyed it immensly. The 3D was also spectacular, if you have the chance go see it in 3D

I actually really enjoyed it. It's not without it's flaws, for sure, but it is a decent film regardless. Garfield makes a great Spider-Man although I wish that more of his wit and quips from the comics were present; would have been nice to learn more about who Peter is when he's not Spider-Man because I couldn't tell if he was a loner/nerd/indie/skateboarding kid or all four. Maybe if they addressed it then I would have been satisfied but eh.

It has one of the best Stan Lee cameos to date though.

I still have to see this one. I like that it's closer to the comics, but Toby Macguire was a really great Peter Parker/Spiderman. So I'm hoping this new guy does a better job.
