Just found this. If you don't want to know too much about the plot (haven't read the comics) then I suggest you don't read it. While I knew most of information here already, there was something that struck me a little: "Parker isn't a simple nerd but has a punk and sarcastic attitude; his Spider-Man is cocky and mischievous." I don't know how I feel about this yet. I love Peter because he is "a simple nerd." We all know that Spider-Man is definitely "sarcastic" and "cocky and mischievous;" so I'm glad about that -- it makes me think that we'll get to see some of Spidey's quips and smart-talk in fights. But my trust is still with the cast and crew of this movie. (:

You see I never read the comics. I only saw cartoon shows when I was a kid. I always enjoyed it and thought the first Spiderman movie was awesome. I'll watch this but.... I just don't think the guy looks like Peter Parker.

Just curious, since I hear that a lot, what does Peter Parker look like?

For the love of--- D<
THIS is the comic book Peter Parker. The one I fell in love with. The one that Andrew is amazing similar to. Get over it.
THIS is the cartoon Peter Parker. The one that when I first saw I thought, "When the hell did Peter get so fricking buff??"

Not that cartoon spiderman. A different one. Man this is going to get confusing cause there are a lot of different looking spidermans.... Well anyways, the one in the comics I read looked more like the Peter Parker in the first 3 movies.

Yes, there are many different Peter Parkers/Spider-Mans, so that does make it a little confusing and a little more difficult for people to find "their Peter". And another will soon be joining the ranks, but that topic is for a different thread.

I really and truly believe that Andrew Garfield is the perfect Peter. Not just because of how he looks or how good of an actor he is, but because of the immense amount of love and dedication he has for the Spidey legacy. And even though he said, “I needed Spider-Man in my life as a kid and he gave me hope," he constantly refers to Peter Parker as being an every-man and a character that belongs to every person out there. Even though he loves Spider-Man so much, he's not just doing this to live out a geeky fanboy dream (as I first thought), he'd doing this for the fans just like him.

That's actually ultimate Peter (RIP ; ; )

But yeah, to me, Garfield is more Peterish than Tobey was. Though I still want to see more footage before I'm deadset on Garfield being a better Peter (since right now I'm just assuming)

I know that's Ultimate's Spidey. That's my Spidey. <3

They showed some really amazing Spider-Man (pun totally intended) footage at ComicCon. The crowd had their mind blown at the acting (by everyone and not just Andrew), but was upset that they didn't get to see the Lizard. (I would have been too!) It's been specifically said that they showed a clip of Peter asking out Gwen and the crowd had all kinds of positive reactions (from sympathetic aws to enthusiastic yeahs). I died a little more for not being there to see it.

Gotta say I'm pretty excited about this film
...even though I'm a little late in here lol

It's supposed to be a lot more similar to the actual comic book series than the original movies were, but we'll have to wait and see i suppose

While I'm excited for the movie, I'm not sure on the casting....

Andrew Garfield (to me) has been in the same role for a lot of movies and one play he's been in. He's always angry or brooding or the punk.
When I saw him in The Social Network, I liked him, but seeing his other roles are very similar (he's more of an angry, yelling person like in Death of a Salesman on Broadway when he played Biff Loman)

I just hope he doesn't play Spidey the same, always angry and brooding.

Spider man is my favorite hero, I hope the movies do him justice.
Even though the "old" two movies (forget that third IT NEVER HAPPENED, got it?) were good, they wer not totaly spidy...
You know if you saw the cartoon, or read the comics, Spider-man makes jokes! The other movies got caught up in all spider man dramas : poor, lost his uncle, blame himself, fears his powers, fears for his social life, "Learns that with great power comes great responsability". Strangely they took Gwen
who would give spidy a MAJOR boost in his drama, persona,etc... her death and uncle ben's were the foundation of his heroic spirit.
In the old movies i just remmember Spiderman doing one joke... when he "losts his powers" and has to take a elevattor the guys asks about his costume, and he says is great but enter in his crack or something like that... Spider man once won from HULK making him laught himself up untill he became Bruce Banner again.

The only Spidey comic I ever read, years before the movies were made, was the original Doc Ock arch :

I haven' t seen anything in the reboot trailers that messed my panties though, all the people I spoke with about this movie are just as skeptical and wonder why the hell Sony launched a reboot so soon. Hell, the Sony execs themselves seem skeptical : http://gammasquad.uproxx.com/2012/0...+(Gamma+Squad)&utm_content=Google+Feedfetcher

I thought it was to put spider man in the avengers, than I discovered that it could not be as Sony has the rights over spider man.

Plus, the Lizard was the first villian in the first episode of the animated series.

I like the looks of it so far, spider man is actually funny this time around, some things I like, somethings I don't. I hope this actually continues and does good, unlike the last one where it started to go down hill.

I doubt it. Marvel sold the film rights of Spider-man (along with X men and Fantastic Four) To stay alive before they founded Marvel Studios. What's happening with Marvel wouldn't really affect the Spider-man movies right now.

Now I kind of agree with the Andrew Garfield not looking like Spider-Man thing. And that for me is because he is just too darn good looking. Seriously, he's stunning. And Peter Parker is not supposed to be. He's supposed to be a nerd who is bad with the ladies (at first). Sticking a pair of hipster glasses on him just doesn't cut it, in my opinion. That said I'll wait and see the film before I write him off entirely. I think it's a shame about no J. Jonah Jameson, but maybe it's for the best. J.K Simmons is actually him in my mind, and anybody else would just not feel right. Seriously no one else who could play him. (interesting fact, J.K Simmons is the voice of Tenzin in The Legend of Korra. Mind=blown)

To those who haven't seen it yet, there's a new trailer.

I'm honestly pretty excited for the movie. I mean hell, it can't be worse than Spiderman 3. I hated that movie.
The casting is..interesting. I'm not that much of a fan of Garfield, but hey, he might surprise us. Plus Emma Stone is in it and she's super awesome.

I actually like the new trailer. There are just some parts that shouldn't be included like the part where he jumps off that thing and it tips over. That is showing too much.
I am not expecting it to be better then the original, I actually dont mind the reboot at all, Im going to watch it with an open mind and enjoy what it brings.
Btw, Spider Man originally had web shooters so sont bash the reboot for having them :P

I never saw anyone bash that detail, actually it' s the other way around (I saw people bashing Raimi' s Parker for not having them), however this trailer shows several things at odds with the comics (not that I mind). Speaking of Spidey' s origins, a few days ago I stumbled upon this, it was a shocker for me (assuming it' s true) : http://www.cracked.com/article_19799_5-creepy-superhero-origin-stories-movies-wisely-left-out.html
