But he can still transmute the blade part.

 

Edward specializes in Alchemy and Sora specializes in sword fighting and magic.

 

Remember he can turn part of his metal arm into a blade and fights pretty well with it too.

Except when Sora could use magic against Ed from far range.

 

But Ed could create a wall and protect himself.
