The Age of the Heart

Istar laughed, bracing his hand against the wall, he laughed for a good long time. "Are you...for real? Seriously buddy...if she's gonna hide herself in Kingdom Hearts...what makes you think she's just gonna show up? Nova's mind doesn't work that way. She likes games. Lemme guess....hide-and-seek? Right Nova?" He wiped his hand dripping with golden water onto Auran's back and walked down the dim hallway. As soon as he stepped into the hallway, he dissappeared like stepping into a fog.

 

Auran watched as he walked away "What the hell did he just wipe on me?" He said quietly

 

"You better hurry up or you'll be left behind." Istar called behind him. Truthfully he wasn't looking forward to walking this path again, but as Alice's sanity bordered on the edge, he'd save her. If Auran wouldn't...he would.

Around Auran and Gexln, several whispering voices called out to them and brushed cold fingers along where Istar has wiped the golden water. "Play with us..." "We'll go together...and together we'll play."

 

Gexln tried to shrug off the voices, doing his best to ignore them. "Never been one for playing" he murmered, following Istar.

 

In front of Gexln, the voices manifested into identical twin forms of Kadaj. "Play with us." "Brother..."

 

Gexln instinctively lashed out with his blade. "I'm not your brother!" he yelled.

 

They jumped back, away from Gexln, "But you are our brother. Everyone is our brother and sister now." "When you were born, each of you inherited Mother's memedic legacy through the Lifestream! And now..." "We'll go together and unite as a family!"

 

"You'll have to take me by force" Gexln said, growling lowly.

 

The two started to laugh insanely. "ENOUGH!" A man wearing all red stepped out of the fog, dragging Istar by his collar. "Are you two responsible for this man? He steps where only the worthy may step. And yet he feels no pain... Either way...your kind have no buisness here." he growled at the two Kadaj's. They flinched and faded away. "Nothing more than remnants...pitiful.."

 

"Responsible for him? Not at all. Know him? Yeah. Though, as much as it pains me to say it, we do need him. So if you'd kindly release him that'd be great" Gexln said.

 

Istar grinned, though already a puncture wound was pouring sand out of his belly. "Heya! Uh...right, this is Genesis Rhapsodos. He's uh...a friend...sorta.."

Genesis dropped him and touched a red gloved hand to his sword. "Need I remind you, you're not welcome here. Neither Kingdom Hearts nor Nova Harasta have awknowledged your worth."

 

A cold smirk appeared on Gexln's face. He pointed his blade at Genesis. "Well then, allow me to prove my worth" he said somewhat coldly.

 

Genesis drew his blade and took a stance, "Very well then. Prove to me your worth."

 

Gexln glanced at Auran. Hmm..i don't need him anyway he thought to himself. Things get too bad, i can always fall back on my secret weapon he thought confidently. "Have it your way" Gexln stated. He charged straight at Genesis.

 

Elegance and sheer power radiated off Genesis as he moved to meet Gexln. Sword in hand, he clashed with him. Genesis pushed hard down on Gexln's blade.

 

Gexln attempted to push back. Realizing it would take much energy from him, he ducked down quickly and stepped to the side, putting out a foot as an attempt to trip Genesis.

 

Genesis turned the other way, avoiding his foot and dragging his hand along his blade. "Infinite in mystery is the gift of the Goddess. We seek it thus, and take to the sky. Ripples form on the water's surface. The wandering soul knows no rest." he recited effortlessly and sliced at Gexln.

 

Gexln dodge rolled to the left, narrowly avoiding the blade. "Wandering soul eh? Much like yourself?" he taunted. He jumped back a short distance to gain some ground, then prepared a defensive stance.

 

Genesis held his sword in front of his face for a moment, "Hmph...I've often wondered how much of that story became true because of me. How much effort I put into making it come true. All for a gift I had so long ago without realizing it." Flicking his sword down to his side, Genesis smirked, "I wouldn't say, though, that I'm the hero anymore. I'd say...I'm more of the prisoner now." He charged at Gexln, blazing crimson sword held above his shoulder, pointed at Gexln.

 

Gexln leapt into the air as a defensive move. "I'm no hero either, but i'm free as a bird" he said. He held his blade pointed downwards, prepared to strike.
