The Affinities

"Oh? May I have a look?" Ulrich asked, following Ariana's gaze to the notebook.

 

Ariana thought for a moment,but and against her better judgement, handed him the book.

 

He accepted the notebook gratefully, opening its pages and observing their contents. Ulrich made sure he took great care of the pages, and was sure not to dwell into anything too personal.

 

"You may be quick to forgive but i'm not so overly kind. Do you know what it's like to be ten years old and have to hide in a closet while watching your entire family be slaughtered in front of you? There are some things that just can't go unpunished. But more so than that even, most humans won't listen to what we have to say even if we did try diplomacy, and the few who do would be branded as traitors and shot down along with us. If we don't take over, the killings will continue until there's no one left. If one of us has to go out in the end, would you rather it be them or us?"

 

"I see that I'm not very good at making friends..." Caeli let out a sigh. Getting up he thought, "Now what can I do." As he walked inside Caeli heard a some-what of a big commotion. He went to check it out only to notice the girl was there, the one that ran away from him...

 

"You think I didn't go through the same experience too?!" roared Andrew as he turned back around, eyes blazing. "You think I don't realize that?!" he continued. "Of course I don't want either to be wiped out! Lives are lives after all!" shouted Andrew. After his outburst he sighed and took a breath. "Look. You either need to change the priorities of this rebellion from 'revenge' to 'change' or I foresee a merciless killing by the government to have absolute control. Revenge is pointless and ends in more bloodshed and hurt. If you truly want to have a better future, then you have to change yourself first," ended Andrew. He turned around again, opened the door and walked out of the room, closing the door behind him. He was still burning with rage from the argument, but was quickly calming down. Andrew looked forward to talking with Haley about less stressful things.

 

Jellal was still angry from the argument even several minutes after Andrew had left. He took it out on the wall by driving his fist into, and surprisingly, through it. Dammit Andrew! Don't you see what'll happen if we don't go through with this?! He shouted mentally. "Knowing Andrew, it'll be impossible to turn him from this newfound resolve to protect the humans....I just hope it doesn't come to the worst case scenario..."

 

What Jo had said about seven cities refusing to help her, worried Haley and begged the question, who was she? She clearly had quite a past and though she clearly wasn't weak, she possibly wasn't her best hope for peace. However she didn't let her doubts show, whoever Jo was, she didn't want to be on her bad side. She was quickly distracted by Ulrich and the girl bumping into him which cheered her up. She didn't recognise Ulrich but she liked him already, he had a calming sense about him that seemed like he could bring out the best in everybody. She knew that she'd have to talk to him later, he did seem like a great guy. The girl, she did recognise, she'd often seen her around with her notepad though she hadn't really spoken to her much. She groped around in the back of her mind for a name, she knew she should probably know it but it wasn't making itself known. That annoyed her and she knew that would bug her for a while. She hated when she couldn't remember things. Her mind slowly drifted back to Andrew, he'd gone to see Jellal, she was just praying it wasn't to join the resistance.

 

Jo glowered at him, but stopped her crude retort when she shuffled over and glanced over Ulrich's shoulder at the notebook. "Nice. I can't draw if my life depended on it. Though if I could all my sketches would be of the destruction I cause." She laughed, short and simple, and cracked her knuckles. "Hey, I'm Jo. You got a name?"

 

Andrew walked away from Jellal's room and headed towards the entranceway where he met everyone, but before he could, he noticed a crowd of people outside of the room where he had laid the fire girl to let her rest. "Hu?" wondered Andrew as he made his way there. "Hello again. My business is finished. And I see that you're no long tired," said Andrew with a slight smile to Jo. "So, what's up over here?"

 

Jo grinned and jabbed her thumb at her chest. "They wanted to meet me. And then just more people came. Cause, I'm cooler than you believe."

 

Ulrich remained silent and handed back Ariana's notebook. "It's quite impressive," he said cheerfully, at long last. He turned to Andrew, then turned to Jo. He chuckled at her remark. "You're too hot-headed to be cool, Jo-Jo," Ulrich jabbed. He turned back to Andrew and held out his hand. "I'm Ulrich, the Bum of the Forests," the earth-user greeted, awaiting for the man to accept his greeting.

 

Caeli wanted to join the conversation that was going on, but he didn't want to be rejected again. So instead he turned around to go back outside...

 

Ariana gave Jo a slight smile. "I'm Ariana-Ari for short" she said simply

 

You have an interesting story I'll give you that. Keel thought to himself.

 

Jellal paced about in his room for a few moments then turned his head quickly at the sound of a gunshot and glass breaking. He ran out into the all to see what had happened and found a little girl, no older than twelve, lying dead on the floor. He looked over to the broken window from which a grassy hill could be seen. His eyes lit up at as realized what had happened. "Everyone! Get down now! they found us!"he shouted as a way of alerting the whole building at once. He then ducked underneath the window and a ball of fire roared to life in his hand.

 

Caeli stopped mid-step. He heard a loud boom. Not sure what it was he started looking around nervously.

 

"What the heck was that." Keel said hearing the sound of gunshots.

 

"Hey Andre-" Haley bagan to say when all hell broke loose. It started with a large bang, glass breaking and gunshots. She heard Jellal's warning as paniced screams could be heard. "Everyone down!! We need to get out of here!" She yelled to the others in the room, jumping down to the floor and pulling Maddie down with her. As she did this metal shutters began to come down the windows and red lights began to flash across the orphanage. Teachers and the adults at the orphanage got to work as their worse nightmare came true. Some moved to fight the humans while others worked on evacuating and getting all the kids to saftey. As Haley saw the lights, she realised the place must of had precautions in case this ever happened. "We need to move now!"

OOC: We need a way of seperating our charas from the rest of the orphanage.

 

Seeing the chaos, Caeli desperately tried to run for his life. But he was swiftly surrounded by a wall of fire, fire he hated fire. Quickly he summoned a big air rush which made a big enough hole in the fire wall for him to get through. Looking back he saw the others. He decided to go back and help. Darting back towards them, he used air rushes to push away all the smoke, to help him and the others breathe. Stretching out his hand he quickly asked, "Need some help?"
