The Affinities

Ulrich was saw the newcomer approach and eyed him with as much apathy as he possessed, not really caring if he was in trouble or if the young man wanted to chat. He listened to the two as his stomach growled a bit. Eventually, once he got an opportunity to answer (for it was the polite thing to do), he answered. "I lived in the woods for the past few weeks... if anyone followed me, it was probably only rodents and bugs. Not that I have a problem with them. Otherwise, I came alone. As to how I found this place... well, it was mostly by luck." He told the lad, who appeared to be near his age. "Now... where's the kitchen? I'm hungry."

As Keel made his way to get something to eat, he noticed three newcommers standing in the lobby. Any reason why a fire user would be using guns is beyond me. He thought before hearing one of them speak. "If you're looking for the kicthen, you won't find it standing around."

 

Ulrich turned to Keel, staring at him blankly. "Of course, why hadn't I thought of that before? Why, that's genius. Thank you ever so much, Captain Obvious." He said sarcastically. "But, I am new here, so why don't you be the helpful little scamp you are and guide me to the kitchen." Ulrich continued, crossing his arms. The youth made his way toward Keel and tapped his foot patiently as he stopped a good two feet away.

 

"Well of you want to find the kicthen, you'll have to follow me." He replied, completely ignoring Ulrich sarcasim. "Feel free to join if you want." He said to the other two as he left for the kicthen.

 

Jellal watched as the boy ran back to his room. He could tell he was disappointed. And why shouldn't he be? They've all waited long enough for their revenge. But there was nothing he could do about it right now so he continued walking down the halls when he spotted the newcomers, one of whom looked very familiar. Was that...Andrew? He was extremely surprised to see him back. Andrew had been the only one Jellal could call his friend before he left a year ago. He walked closer to confirm it. He was right, this was his old friend and the one who inspired him to start the rebellion.

 

Jo shoved her pistols away and stared up at the cieling. "This is getting stupid. I just want a place to sleep..." She sat on the floor, drawing her knees to her chest. "Can't we just....go..." she trailed off, her head droping to her chest as she fell asleep.

 

Great she's alseep. Keel thought before turning to Ulrich. "Just head down this hall and you should find where the kicthen is." Pointing in the direction he was suppose to go in, he made his way down the stair where the sleeping Jo and Andrew stood. Guess we can't just leave her sleeping here. He thought scrathing his head as he wonderd what to do next.

 

Haley grinned, "You'll see, it's my little hidden place to go to get away from -" She cut off midsentance and turned her head, listening. Her forehead creased...that voice...it couldn't be, could it? "I'm sorry but that I thought I heard..." She paused, "Sorry, I need to go check this out. I'll show you there later. Okay?" She reached forward and closed the gab inbetween the walls. Smiling apoligetically at Maddie, she turned and moved towards where she'd heard the voice. She hated to do this to Maddie but she could of sworn she'd just heard him.

Andrew. He was a year older than her and she'd known him a long time. Well, it had taken her a while to actually talk to him but, although she wouldn't admit it, she'd had a crush on him long before. She'd really liked him and a year ago, when she'd just started to get close to him, he'd had to leave the orphanage and enter the outside world. She knew she'd have to do that soon, she was already one of the oldest there. She'd not heard from him since the day he left and had often wondered what had become of him. Yet, just now, she was sure she'd heard his unmistakeable voice or else her mind was playing cruel tricks on her.

She turned the corner and gasped. There he was. She could hardly believe he'd returned. Although, next to him was a woman asleep on the stairs which confused her but she didn't care. Andrew was back. She only hoped he remembered her.

 

"Wha- hey, stop that. Don't sit on this dirty floor. Come on now. Get up. There should be a few more rooms le- uh...I mean, there might be a few rooms left down this h- um...I meant, uh, this hallway looks like it has some rooms lined down it," said Andrew hesitantly while pulling gently on the girl's arm. Should I reveal that I know this place? Or have I already been disco- He didn't finish that last thought as he suddenly heard fast approaching footsteps and the girl that belonged to them. Andrew dropped the girl's arm immediately after recognizing the figure standing in front of him. "You're..." he trailed off. He distinctly remembered this girl as someone he left behind a year ago. She had been a dear friend of his, but he was having a little trouble remembering her name. She had gotten more beautiful in the one year of his absence. Did it start with an M? It ended in a y....something about stars....Stella? No that doesn't end in a y....Mary? No...that doesn't sound right...stars....night.....blue sky....blue...blue fire....blue ice...a comet....Haley's Comet! "Haley!" he exclaimed, as he suddenly remembered the name. "Glad to see you still in one piece. And this place too." Well, I guess the charade's over.

 

Ariana wondered around the orphanage- bored as could be. She wanted to be fighting-fighting against the stupid humans who killed her family- not just sitting in this stupid please with nothing to do.

 

"Ugh, this is so boring. There is nothing to do here.", Caeli said as he got out of his room again. He then started wandering the orphanage. After a few minutes Caeli then noticed a beautiful girl walking all alone. He ran up to her asked, "Hey, you mind if I walk with you?"

 

Ari's eyes narrowed "Why?" She said simply

 

"I don't know... I guess... I just need someone to talk to.", replied Caeli.

 

"Whatever," said Ari as she started walking again.

 

Jo's head bobbed as she slept. Her dreams were filled with fire and death, even when she felt warm and safer than before.

Confused of what just happened, Caeli called after her,"What did I do?"

 

"Nothing," She said. "I just don't like people,"

 

"Very well then. I guess Ill leave you be. Sorry for intruding." , apologized Caeli as he turned away...

 

Ariana sighed "Wait" She called before he could walk away. "You can stay if you want. I not doing anything expect heading to the tree outside,"
