I was excited for the cast. Michael B. Jordan? Kate Mara? Awesome! Miles Teller, Toby Kebbell, and Jamie Bell? Weird for their roles, but okay.

    I applauded the race change.

I enjoyed the twist that Johnny wasn't the adopted one, but Sue is.

The gritty, containment suit thing? Uhhh, okay, I'll give it a shot. Still planned on seeing it.

Telling Kate Mara that she doesn't have to read any of the comics for source info because it isn't based on any singular story? Ummmmm

Victor von Doom is now Victor Domashev and he's an anti-social programmer/blogger who goes by "Doom" online?
    I'm done.

It's like you made one great X-Men movie (that isn't really an X-Men movie) and just gave up on Fantastic Four.

Fox, you know I'll still watch this, but the anticipation is just not there anymore.

I'm sorry, come again? Are we sure this isn't another complete reboot of an entire series like DC's New 52 Universe?

Victor Von Doom is an unbearably silly name and as far as I'm concerned any change that makes it less silly is welcome

    There I said it

It's like Sony making a Spider-man film without Aunt May.

But seriously, I love all the overreactions that people go through with any kind of news with this movie.

I'm with you. It sounds like it'd be his villain name, not his alter-ego's name.

Would you like a tetherball poll to impale him with while you're at it?

don't feed the stereotype that all comic readers stubbornly resist change due to nostalgia goggles

Yeah, I never liked "Victor von Doom" being his real name. Domashev retains the spirit of "von Doom" and still lets his villain name makes sense. The anti-social blogger thing, though? That's flaming ******ant.

No, that's not what I'm saying at all. I'm just trying to explain why it's ridiculous. And let's be real, it's not as if he's the only Marvel character with an absurd name.
I don't think they stereotype you're referencing is as strong as you think it is. Most comicbook fans I've interacted with don't have a problem with change itself, but rather when it's change for no reason that results in something less interesting than the original. Change is inherent to the comicbook culture, especially one currently in a place of a constantly altered status quo due to multiple yearly events. Most of them are okay with change as long as you can justify doing it by doing something interesting with it, which this project does not seem to be doing from what I've heard. It's good to have a wait and see attitude of course, but it's understandable that fans would be a little aggravated with all of these changes being made, especially when the FF films were some of the worst in the last generation of superhero films. I understand simply wanting the characters you like being done right and done well before making any major changes. I should make it clear that I am not one of these people because I am not a fan of FF. I do not care.

this post is probably full of typos. please ignore them.

That's why it sounds silly to me. I find it hard to believe that some guy three or four generations ago said to himself, "Y'know, at some point a super evil guy is going to arise from this line and it would a shame if he didn't have a really kickass name to along with his kickass lair and super armor."
