Anyone played the game for Steam called Terraria? It's pretty similar to MineCraft, but it's pure 2d, and a bit more focused on battling. If you haven't played, here's some random screen shots, all taken by me, :D

An amazing game, in my opinion! The game has, I believe, four bosses, three of which, I have fought, and beaten. Eater of Worlds, King Slime, Eye of Cthulu, and Skeletron. A main thing for me, is getting all the NPC's, the (This Spoiler also includes how to get the NPCs)

Merchant, which is obtained by getting fifty Silver Coins.

Demolitionist, which is obtained by having at least one bomb type item in your inventory

Nurse, which is obtained by increasing your Max HP at least one time,

Dryad, obtained by defeating at least one boss

Gun Dealer, obtained by having a firearm in your inventory

And the Clothier, which is obtained by defeating Skeletron.

I have not played it but have, on youtube, watch other play it. It looks like Minecraft but 2D and a lot more choices when it comes to weapons and armor. Do you happen to know the specs on it so I can see if I can play it?

It's a really great game. Honestly, at first, I thought it was some cheap rip of Minecraft, but then I bought it, and it's been bloody brilliant. It has an inbuilt multiplayer feature, instead of having to download a separate server program, like Minecraft does.

The specs aren't too much, I believe. You should definitely try it out. When I first purchased it, I hated the game. Ten dollars wasted. A few weeks later, I tried it again.

Pretty fun game. Only game I can run on my computer lag-free. <: And TShock server ftw.

But anyway, yea my friend got me interested, so I bought it. She gave me a lot of useful items right off the bat but oh well. xD Doesn't completely ruin the fun! I still made the Fiery Great Sword, and the other Fiery/Magma/whatever they're called-items! All by myself. c:

    (I still play Minecraft more)

I personally don't think that Terraria is worth getting if you already have Minecraft, but it does seem to reward exploration and battle more, even though the Adventure Update seems like it will add a lot that Minecraft is lacking in that department. Overall, get Terria if you don't have Minecraft, but don't if you do. You wallet will thank you.

I would get it either way.
Your happy gland will thank you.

Just my opinion; Minecraft is a simple mining/survival game, after all.
Terraria focuses much more on the combat essence of survival.

Again, the Adventure update is likely to add a lot more to the aspects of the game that Terraria improved.

I've been seeing this game, everywhere I'm really tempted to try it out cause of my "was" obsession of Minecraft, I think games like these should get lots of attention cause there too fun.

    Oh god this game.

I've played it before, and it's actually pretty fun. I like the RPG element they have. It's especially fun in a group.

Likewise, I've never played on Multiplayer...
I would love to though... Sounds like super fun.

Terraria's quite fun, and I'm saying this as an owner of Minecraft and Terraria. I must say for the first few days, I enjoyed Terraria much more. However, in the long run, Minecraft provides longer-lasting -(if somewhat lesser) fun.

Anywho, to those who have not played Multiplayer... DO. It completely improves the experience in every way.

I would just play on multiplayer alone with TShock just for the commands. xD Like Minecraft, multiplayer commands are awesome. <3

(Though I found a modded Terraria with single player commands, but oh well)

So, what's anyone's favorite boss to battle on Terraria? I myself prefer the (Although rather simple) battle with Eye of Cthulu.

Sling my harpoon over my shoulder, and grapple hook up my battle tower's Cthulu Battlefield.
Run like hell across it while rapidly shooting behind me.

Never actually fought any boss besides Cthulu. I gotta say, he was a real troll, and OF COURSE THE GUY (who is someone in this thread) HAS BEEN KICKING HIS ASS BECAUSE HE'S SO DAMNED OVERPOWERED.

    I died. Many times.
