This has been bugging me a for a while, but I'm not quite good at theories, so I'll just give you what I know for certain.

It's been stated a lot that Riku was supposed to be the wielder of the keyblade instead of Sora in KH1, right? Except Sora received it because Riku temporarily got tempted by darkness and all.

I sort see a connection between that and Terra. In translations of Terra's pre-battle scene in FM+, Terra says something like "It isn't you that I have chosen."

Now, I think Terra's talking about the keyblade but beyond that I don't know. Anybody willing to draw up a better theory? I'd appreciate it.

Dude, I think Sora kind of knows Aqua and Ven, Sora reacted right when Terra said those names, Aqua...Ven...

I think it was more of Sora getting ready just in case the guy was an aggressor. Though it doesn't seem too much like it to me. ...aside from the appearing out of nowhere bit.

In any case, I think Terra was the one who sent the keyblade to Destiny Islands and he chose Riku to originally wield it. However, this is only a small detail and I'd like to hear theories elaborating on it or other possible connections between Terra and Sora's keyblade.

How does someone make someone else a Keyblade weilder? I think he sent the Keyblade over to Destiny Islands and it would choose the one with the strongest heart there, I think he just thought it would be Riku because they both mean Earth. The Keyblade choose Sora because he had a strong heart and Riku betrayed his own.

That's a good point, but it still doesn't explain what Terra meant by "It isn't you that I have chosen." Maybe the reason why he's shown at Destiny Islands is to pick out the successor for the keyblade and thought Riku would best suit it. However, the keyblade still had some will of its own and went along with Sora, as you've said.

    Aww, that ruined it. =[
Not the game, just the whole sora-keyblade thing.

    RIKU DOESN'T DESERVE THE KEYBLADE
I'm sorry, just no. I really don't think so. I can't stand for it.
Although, that did give me an idea for kingdom hearts 3.
btw, is Terra blind or something?

It is a definite possibility... I'm not sure what else he would be talking about...

Why doesn't Riku deserve it? Because he used Darkness? If that's your only reason for saying that, then I'll tell who REALLY doesn't deserve it... Roxas...

I don't think he's blind, btw... I think that he just didn't recognize Sora... which isn't surprising, considering that he most likely hadn't seen him in 10 years... and he seemed pretty spaced out as well...

Yeah Terra did seem a bit spaced out... but wasn't that sort of a spirit that Sora was fighting?

Anyway I was wondering about that too and I'm still sticking to the theory that Riku was meant to wield it since Terra thought he would best be suited for it, of course with both of their names meaning 'earth'.

In a way Terra seemed a bit disappointed by it all, I don't know if just gave me that sort of feeling. I think Terra at the end denounced his right to wield the Keyblade and hoped that Riku would be its successor just like he was.
Wasn't there one scene from the TGS that showed Terra at the shores of Destiny Island saying "to forget about him"? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah. Quoted from another thread. This is what I think on the matter.
