Puberty usually occurs at about 12-13 nowadays, sometimes earlier, depending on the chemicals in the diet, so a few years after that would be the body's biological prime.

I mean that nature is telling us to have sex for the progress of the species at the time when you're riddled with hormones.

Teen sex should be allowed. Anybody that has sex needs to have protection.
Having sex isn't a joke. Teens that have it need to be sure that they want it and not just to please their partner, because in the long run that person may be affected for awhile.

This is true. I learned about it in Psychology class... *shudders*

But yes, technically teenagers are physically ready for sex. However, I personally think that most teens are not psychologically ready for it. They aren't mature enough to understand what it truly means, and what the consequences are. Teens tend to live in the moment and believe that they are invincible, and so many don't think about the long term consequences. And even if they do give the consequences a moment or two of thought, they generally think "That could never happen to me." And that's how they convince themselves that it will be okay, and that they're ready and prepared, when in reality a majority of the time they are not.

While it's true that a lot of teens are not mentally ready for sex, neither are a lot of adults out there. This happens all the time in a lot of scenarios of people of many ages. I think it's just a basic human train of thought.

    I agree with this.

However most teens aren't which I'm willing to bet is why teen sex is not "allowed" or looked down upon.

If they're using the appropriate protection, then I guess it would be okay for teens to have this level of intimacy in their relationships.
They just need to know that a child is for life, not just for christmas :)

As many people already said, teens are going to continue to have sex no matter what. The best thing to do is to continue to promote safe sex and education on sex.

Sex is something to be shared in marriage. Premarital ruins the sacredness of it, makes it dirty, with AIDS, Herpes, and all that disgusting stuff.

Because no one has ever had sex without getting sick...
    it's unheard of! (sarcasm)

And there are some married couples who had premarital sex and they are still happy

With regards to no sex before marriage, well let's face it, you wouldn't buy a car without taking it for a test drive first.

not sure that comparison really works. i mean, personally, if i loved a girl enough to marry her, i wouldn't change that just because she's no good in bed.

Saving sex until marriage only means narrowing down slim odds to even slimmer ones. There's always a certain risk, it all comes down to how much of a gambler you are. Having sex before marriage is one thing, sleeping around is another. You do however have to be willing to bear the consequences.

Also, the "sacredness" of marriage is a personal thing that's meaningful to one person and hollow to another. It should never be used as a standard of any kind.

Sex, whilst not the be all and end all of a relationship, is an important part of it. Or at least in my opinion. If you can't connect intimately then surely you are more like friends than lovers?

Of course that is my own opinion.

Yeah, in retrospect it was perhaps the wrong word to use. I think I'll change that to just being an important part of it.

Yeah, massive isn't the right word, but it is an important part of an intimate relationship. I personally have no respect for morals that aren't my own (I believe morals are a personal thing), so I'm all for teen sex--as long as they are careful and educated about the risks.

On the sex before marriage thing, I'd have to say that yes, I'd want to have done so before committing because to me, having that intimate connection is kind of important. It's not the most important thing to me, because the friendship and compatibility otherwise would be, as in how do we deal with problems, strife, anger, etc and also do we have things we can connect with in life such as similar likes in movies, activities etc. However, it does fit in with things and I wouldn't want to really be married to someone that I did not feel enjoyed having sex with me, let alone me liking it with her. Of course, if there was some medical issue or something, that would be different.. but well some people sexually just are not meant to be.

I can see why some people think teenage sex and pre-marital sex is bad but the only way I can really see it as a bad thing is if the people doing so are doing unprotected sex and not being responsible, as well as not considering each others' feelings on the matter. I just don't want to hear people whine and cry if they have a kid or get some STD from unprotected sex because the info is out there for most of us.

Also, STDs happen if people are not careful and do not use protection. If teens do the responsible thing, the numbers of STDs amongst them would drop considerably. With the way the law works in some places though, where people feel sex education should not be taught properly, well...it shows that teens are going to have sex anyway and because they aren't taught responsibility, they end up hurting themselves. If you know what to look for and do things right, that's not a real issue.

As a joke but on a serious note, my grandfather used to tell me to 'wrap it before you tap it' and well, as funny as it is, it's so true that being responsible is the way to go. If some people prefer abstinence, I think that's fine and dandy, but for others of us, it's kind of illogical to do if we are going steady with someone. Laws shouldn't be implemented more than they are, to me, just because some people are foolish or others are preferring abstinence. No one is telling anyone to go have sex, just because the law isn't against it. It's your choice.
