Turns out my computer is running Windows 7 32 bit as opposed to 64bit which it should be running, is there anyone to quickly change from one to the other or do I need to reinstall windows again completely?

I think you need to reinstall again completely. That means that all of your programs are 32-bit compatible and every windows application will need reinstalled, so it amounts to the same thing.

God dang it, I'm holding my windows 7 installation disk in my hand right now, is the process as simple as just popping this in and going again, or do I need to somehow uninstall this current version first?

I think it will ask to replace your current installation. What you want to do before any of this is back everything not Windows up. It will rewrite your entire drive for the installation as far as I know.

Well, Makaze's already said it for me. I had to do the same thing when this computer was first built. Was only able to use a fraction of its power til I installed 64 bit Windows 7

...it's not as simple as reinstalling and picking a 64-bit mode in contrast to 32-bit. Each installation disk is only capable of installing the edition it has been designed to install, and the one you have will install 32-bit Windows 7 no matter how many times you try. For more information I'd suggest using google.

(Implying my disk is a legal copy of windows 7)

It has the capacity to install them both, we just picked 32 bit at the start because we are computer dumb, this error is all on me...and my girlfriend but she's not here so I'l take the blame.

...I asked if there was a quick fix, Makaze said no, so I began backing up, I asked if it was just a case of putting my disk in, Makaze said pretty much, so I continued to back up.

My issues were getting conformation from more able minds than myself that I am not about to turn my computer into a nuclear device, and it seems like I'm not.

There is no reason to be so hostile.

As it stands you're twice as good as me at the moment, but gimme an hour, shits gonna get real.

Realistically, anything above 6 is a minimal increase, and anything above 8 is really quite useless, unless you're emulating the Big Bang in 1080p.

What kind of quick fix can cause Windows to handle more memory than 4GB and create so many compatibility issues with so many software? A simple drop-down menu that would ask you if you want Windows to change from one edition to another?

    Come on, be reasonable.

That is why I made the thread! I don't know anything about the software and hardware of a computer, I took graphic design in school, not computing so I can draw you some really nice stuff on good programmes, but I couldnt tell you what the programmes were or how much memory or ram they used, I'm just playing to my strengths here, I go on a site with a bunch of tech savvy people, so it only makes sense to ask their opinion and help.

Wanna work as a designer in a gaming project some people I know work on? It's an amateur project though, not professional.

I've not got any more skill in the art of CAD, what I did was more for drawing up blue prints of buildings and objects, I couldnt draw the fetching girl in your sig on a computer to any real merit worth mentioning, plus I havent done anything with the stuff I learned in about 4 years, best to look for someone more skilled, go find Darkwatch, he's great at that ****.
