Kaylee watched as the stranger dropped his weapons. She knelt once more and placed her own down on the ground, stepping forward and meeting his eyes with her own. A look of curiosity crossed her face as she moved even closer. He was human, and he was also not trying to kill her. At the moment, at least.

"Who are you?" She asked. Her normally soft voice was strained and dry, her pale cheeks flushed with anticipation. She wondered if he would respond. Or if the man even knew her language. With a deep breath she stopped walking, waiting for the slightest response.

"I don't know... all I know is my name is Jack... and we're in the ruins of Eden City... and I used to live here, with my mother, father, and brother," Jack said, making sure to speak as slowly and calmly as he could. "There are these strange... I don't know what to call them... they look human, but they aren't. They can appear at random, and they disappear when they die. I don't know what's going on. It's almost like there was some kind of nuclear war here." Jack took another worried glance around the buildings that now lay in shambles along the road.

"I've been looking for survivors since I woke up. Who are you? And how did you end up here?" Jack asked.

She began to relax once more. He didn't seem out to kill her. At his talk of creatures appearing from out of no where, she had to resist the urge to go running by his side. He had a gun. She chose to stay by her weapon, listening intently to his story. He didn't remember much of anything that would be of any help to her. She looked around and then up to the sky.

"For me, I don't remember that much. You're right about the war. I woke up buried in ruble. I'm not much help to you. I woke up about 40 minutes ago...And I found you...Have you found anyone else? Do you know where food or water may be? Shelter?" She was getting ahead of herself and she knew it. "Oh. And my name is Kaylee..."

Jack shook his head. "I don't know where any source of food or water would be. And I'm not sure if there's any shelter good enough to keep us out of the radiation. I haven't found any other survivors... but one just found us."

Jack was right, as a young boy, probably three years younger than him, stepped from the shadows, fully equipped in military gear and holding a shotgun in his hands, a machete strapped to his back. He had a mop of brown hair similar to Jack's, the exception being that his was lighter.

    His non-worried expression surprised Jack.

"Yeah, you're right. I did find you two. I've been trailing the kid with the gun for nearly an hour. My name's Chris. Chris Regan. I came from Sil, but after it got the **** bombed out of it, I had to cross the bridge into Eden before it was destroyed. The three of us, at least, are lucky to even be alive."

Jack gave Chris a worried stare. "Sil... I think I remember that place... Isn't it really cold over there?" he asked.

    "Bingo," Chris replied.

Kaylee eyes quickly moved to the new stranger as she stepped to the side, biting her bottom lip and narrowing her eyes slightly. She straightened up in a defensive pose and tilted her head curiously to the side. "S-Sil...You seem to know what you're doing--erm--Chris, so then. Do you know of any place with food and shelter?" She asked, bent on getting this settled.

The girl's eyes continues to alternate between the two men, fighting the compulsion to pick up that machete again.

Chris chuckled. "You can forget about food and shelter. If there is any, it's horribly contaminated by radiation, and you'd die before you even touched it. As for me knowing what I'm doing, I only know that those non-human freaks Jackie boy's been fighting are really humans who have been horribly mutated after the initial wave of bombs hit the ground. Search planes have been scanning the area for any survivors, since most of the other humans here took off into space to let the soldiers do the fighting. Those who made it now live in a big space craft known as the Yuuki-Asai, and those who didn't make are either us... or them."

Chris pointed at an oncoming swarm of the mutants. Jack immediately picked up his gun and let out a salvo of shots, but they all suddenly disappeared in an explosion. Jack turned back around to see Chris twirling a pin on his finger, meaning that he had chucked a grenade. "At least some of us have better equipment for the oncoming storm..." he said, looking at Jack as if he had done something wrong.

    OOC: So sorry. D:

"Storm? Will there be a lot more?" Kaylee asked, suppressing the anxiety and frustration she was feeling by asking her questions. Questions she already knew the answer to. She bit down on her quivering lip and stared her wide eyes into Chris'.

She glanced down at her "weapon" with a short scoff. She wanted a gun. Her eyes were fixed on the man.

    OOC: Meh. Nothing personal.

Chris stared back at the girl. "Oh, yeah. There's going to be a lot more. They won't stop coming until we're off this planet. We have to find some way to get to the Yuuki Asai, if we want to live. And you'll need a gun, miss. You, the tall kid, do you have any other weaponry?"

Jack shook his head. All he had was his knife, a picture, and his rifle.

Chris sighed. "Well, I was hoping I might use this later... but I'm not leaving with anybody left behind." He reached into his belt and pulled out a pistol, tossing it at the girl. "Here. This should help some until we find a better weapon. But keep that blade. Two weapons are better than one."
