Sword Art Online: Side Stories

Smiling to Shiina as they entered the stage, Scarlet tied the red ribbon she was given around her arm. "Those are some might looking wolves you got there. With powerful friends like those, you'll be fine." She said, trying to reassure her partner. With them being the red team this match that made the other two team blue.

"If you think you can't last a long match just aim for the ribbons. Get them off and we win. Okay?" Calling out her sword now she stood ready, her raven flying above and the tiger to the sidelines. "My familiars won't be participating in this match, so pay them no mind." While Shiina needed her wolves, it seemed, Scarlet did not need her partners. And with the numbers already in their favor it felt fairer this way.

And so it was just the two opposing forces against her and her partner, ready to duke it out.

With the sound of the buzzer the match began, but she did not move right away. Normally she'd use Invisible Wires at the start of a fight, but with the chance they'd hinder Shiina as well... So instead she began counting the distance between the two teams before finally lunging forth, deciding to focus on Kaito.

Let's see how he fairs against a simple sideways slash attack...then follow it up with an upper slash.

 

Right when the battle begun, Kaito had barely anytime to react to Scarlet's attack. Fortunately he managed to dodged it before attacking with a horizontal slash. If his attack missed, then he would have to be prepared for another attack with was likely to come.

 

"Uoh~~! It has already started!" Ittoki scooched himself to the edge of his seat.

"Seems like this round, the objective is the get the ribbon off the opponent." Kuroi crossed his left arm over his chest, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose. He sat back in his seat, legs crossed.

"Eh??" Ittoki looked over to Kuroi and whined. "This round seems easier then OUR fight!!"

"..." Kuroi remained silent and Ittoki just turned his attention back to the fighters. Weighing the odds between each of the Players, Kuroi couldn't determine who would win. "This is going to be a tough fight..." he muttered.

 

Shiina held her breath as Scarlet moved first. Bright blue eyes followed Hayden and Kaito's movements in reaction to Scarlet. With a sharp whistle, Mina and Kuro flanked Hayden. Mina's <<Howl>> skill inflicted a provoked status on both Hayden and Kaito. Snarling, Kuro attempted to latch onto Hayden's sword wielding arm with his sharp jaws. "Okay..." Tucking her spear close to her body, Shiina took off. Mastering her Sprint skill paid off as she darted towards Hayden faster than the eye could follow, let alone the targeting system, and jabbed her spear towards Hayden's chest.

 

Kaito's counterattack was dodged, though just barley. And normally she would attack again, but it seemed that the other was going for her ribbon. Realizing that one was smart she jumped back, gaining distance between her and her foes. No one in the first match had gone for the ribbons, so it was actually nice to see someone finally doing that.

Maybe they were all out to prove their worth strength wise rather than intelligence. But it seems with the wolves and Shiina to worry about now she would be safe from Hayden trying to snatch her ribbon. She just hoped her partner was careful.

So now with that out of the way she began running to the side, flanking Kaito this time rather than running straight at him. However once she reached him instead of just attacking she jumped, flipping to add more momentum for when her sword came crashing down at him.

 

As expected Scarlet's attack were performed well and full of skill, leaving Kaito with little room to block. Even though he managed to block to attack, he could stop the force of it which he felt upon impact. Looking up mid block he saw that he was in range of her ribbon. With all his might he managed to deflect Scarlet off him and quickly sent his blade right towards it.

 

Shiina's blood roared in her ears even as she shut her eyes, stabbing the tip of her spear into the ground and pole-vaulting an impressive distance away from Hayden's reaching fingers. She didn't want to disappoint the guild leader and let her ribbon get stolen in the first few minutes of the battle. Shiina was built and equipped for speed instead of raw strength. Landing lithely, Shiina whistled again. The black wolf, Kuro, built physically for power lunged at Hayden head on. Claws, gnashing teeth and a large amount of weight would collide with Hayden in an attempt to knock back the girl. The grey and white wolf, Mina flanked the girl, teeth slightly parted as she dashed straight for the blue ribbon tied on Hayden's arm.

Slightly impressed by the young beast-tamer, Masamune lifted an eyebrow at her tactics. It wasn't hit and run or a full on assult exactly... She exploited the fact that she used two beasts in battle and kept the heat on her opponent. The girl obviously wasn't very good with strength or else she would've retalliated Hayden making an attempt on the ribbon... But her reaction time was quick....probably quicker than his. His barely formed smile dropped from his face. "Those two...Ms. Guild Leader and Ms. Beast-tamer make quite a team almost...almost. I've never encountered her guild before...the Moonlit Swords, huh?" If he were a good and obedient pet like PoH wanted to think, he'd send a message to him immediately informing him of the information he'd aquired...but he was no dog to sit and whimper for scraps when the entire hog had been set on the floor in front of him.

 

Masaru watched the match with interest before noting a messege sent by soemone named Chuuya? The person seemed impressed with the fight they shown, he would reply but he wanted to keep his eyes on the fights and see their figthing styles, Shiina was adaptnig to the fight by aiming for the ribbon but ti was obivous, there were facing Kaito and Hayden who seeme djust as eager to go after the ribbons, perhaps it was because the Guild Leader herself partaken in the tournament.

"WIth Shiina's familars, they cover more ground and technically, it's 4 person team against 2 so Shiina can use her fmailar to blow off attacks and input her own counterattack while Scarlet seems to be putting more effort into her swings with moutmentum and add a more powerful impact to her attacks, thus theya re using distraction and force rather effectively." He thought and turned his eyes to Hayden and Kaito.

"These two on the other hand, are probably anixous of fightign a Guild Leader who woudl have alot of skill to back he rup so they aren't workign together with one another as efficently , all they are focusing is deflectign whatever attacks come in and hope to grab the ribbon in a desperate attempt... I would probably focus my efforts in this fight upon the familars since thye have their own HP bars, if they get into Red Zone, Shiina will have not much choice but hang them back to heal or keep them safe which allows that time to attack her ina double team, then grab her ribbon, but this is their fight." He thought to himself.

 

Maybe focusing all their efforts on one person would quicken the results of this battle, but Hayden was already fighting three on her end. And Kaito would be left free to think about his moves more carefully and could possibly figure out the easily method to win this.

She needed to focus on what's at hand anyway, and not get distracted as proven when the ribbon got a cut. But it was small and it remained attached to her arm, and thus she was still in this. Wouldn't it be better if a familiar held it instead...but as she said they were not in this battle that would be too unfair.

These thoughts went through her head within seconds, giving her time to think of another attack the moment she regained her balance. It was a flurry of strikes as she hoped to knock Kaito down or even break his sword.

 

Taking a step back, Kaito tried to dodged as many as Scarlet's attacks that he could. While he did managed to avoid some, he could see out of the corner of his eye that his HP was gradually depleting from the onslaught. Though he was more concerned with protecting the ribbon on his arm than anything else right now. Suddenly, being too concerned with dodging, he was knocked down to the floor. This gave Scarlet the perfect chance to strike the ribbon.

 

Yelping, Mina backed away, the wolf's health falling halfway. Shiina suppressed a cry in her throat for her canine friend. "M-Mina....!" Kuro's claws dug into the shield, slobber dripping from his bared teeth as he barked at Hayden. Running to Mina's side, Shiina drew her spear over her head, aiming to stab into Hayden's unprotected arm.

 

With Kaito open now she lunged for the ribbon, ready to roll off to the side whether it was a miss or hit.

[ooc; short post but I want Kaito to be able to react, then Scarlet with react to Hayden then it'd return to normal turn based set up.]

 

Kaito quickly put his sword in an angle in front of his ribbon, so that Scarlet's attack would simply deflect off of it.

 

Darn. It was such a perfect chance...at least it wasn't a trap, as she bought into it so blindly. And now as she rolled in the dirt it seemed that Hayden was making another move.

Come on Shiina, where did you go? If it were not for the fact that the arm with the ribbon was on the ground she would have lost it.

I'm the guild leader here, if I lose, in front of a PK no less, where would my honor go? She thought, pulling up her sword to strike at Hayden without getting up first. Sure she could keep going for Scarlet's ribbon, but with what little HP the other had and with Scarlet's strength, an impale would mean a double knock at the very least.

 

Digging her spear out of the ground, Shiina pulled it back over her shoulder. No it wasn't the kind of spear you could just throw at someone, hoping to impale them...but it was worth a shot. "Mina, Kuro...initiate Tactic 4!" Hurling her spear through the air towards Hayden's turned back, Shiina's wolves circled round towards Kaito. Mina edged, keeping low to the ground, towards his ribbon while Kuro snarled from the opposite side, darting in to latch onto Kaito's leg.

Red-brown eyes followed Scarlet's movements more than her frightened partner. "I'll bet you a hundred Col that she's wishing she were alone right now... Guild leaders like her...ones filled to the brim with useless things like honor and pride...they don't fight very well with those that worry. Her partner...what'shername...she's worrying about her pet, a lot more than she's worrying about herself." His eyes narrowed. Tactic 4? As in she has other Tactics?
