Super Smash Bros Brawl - Delayed Edition

When I first saw Grayfox, I thought he was a playable character, until I didn't see the "WARNING: CHALLENGER APPROACHING!". Still an awesome update, imo.

Chances are he might end up being my favourite AT, regardless of what he does. XD

He would've been an awesome playable, but I doubt they'd want to have two third-party characters from the same franchise. Snake is it for the MGS series. =\

 

I was talking to Dogenzaka earlier about it, he said:

"Sakurai keeps hinting with things like "Awww makes you wish he was playable!" and "You never know what might happen in this world". Me and some people are starting to think that eventually some assist trophies might become unlockable characters."

I agree with him. xD

 

"Anything's possible", sure. But Sakurai is really trying to limit the number of 3rd party characters in the game--which I believe he still plans to keep at 2-3 other than Snake.

Because he's limited to such an extent, Gray Fox, in my opinion, would be far less likely to be a playable since I just don't see Sakurai using two 3rd party character slots for the same franchise (i.e. MGS). I'd sooner expect Lyn, Hammer Bros, etc becoming playables than Gray Fox.

EDIT: And in my opinion, I think the "You never know what might happen in this world" is more or less following off the earlier line where he said "to think he would appear on the Wii, alongside Mario and Sonic", rather than making a general statement of ambiguity regarding Gray's possible future as an unlockable. If Gray Fox was a 1st/2nd party char, I'd have more hope in the possibility, but I just don't see two 3rd party characters from the *same* franchise making it in Brawl.

 

Not a bad update.

I really hope we get a new character tomorrow or Friday.

 

I can't wait to see how this game and its features work out.

Lucas: Special Moves


There’s a character named Ness who has appeared in the Smash Bros. series up until now, and Lucas is very similar. They are from the same family of PK users.

But Lucas’s physical combat style is quite different. By which I mean, he does not have the same standard moves.

His strong up attack is a mentally-powered flip kick.

He unleashes a PK barrage on the ground with his down smash!

The finish of his back air attack is a meteor smash.

Oh! Is he grabbing the edge with his rope snake?!

<Side Special Move: PK Fire>

This is also quite different from Ness’s.

It flies perfectly sideways, even in air.

The flame pillar explodes!

<Standard Special Move: PK Freeze>

If you charge it up and control it...

You can freeze your opponents!

And even more threatening is his PK Thunder. For those of you unfamiliar with the last game, or the one before that, remember this well.

<Up Special Move: PK Thunder>

You guide the PK Thunder with the Control Stick...

And hit yourself with it to launch!

Doing this helps you recover.

The angle you launch at depends upon the position at which the PK Thunder hits you. This launch also makes for a rather powerful attack, so I think it’s fine to even try it unexpectedly.

<Down Special Move: PSI Magnet>

This move absorbs the energy of projectile and other attacks and uses it to recover Lucas’s damage. It has a wide range of effectiveness, so give it a try when you get the chance.

If an enemy uses a projectile, that’s your chance.

Lucas is now one of my favorite characters. His PK Fire is like a volcano! >=D

 

Lucas seems pretty good to me. From the looks of it he is replacing Ness.

 

Lucas is... lol, nevermind.

This either means Ness is out, or will be incredibly different from what he was in 64 and Melee. I doubt Sakurai would want the two of them to be THIS similar if Ness was to be reinstated.

EDIT: And a perfect example of the new physics engine: Everyone look at how Pikachu is making eye-contact with Lucas!

Good point Xaldin, Ness is probably out according to that observation.

 

Bah, Ness was my best in Melee, this is good news because this is simple a suped up version of Ness. Unfortunately without the bat. D; Lucas is looking like my second character.

 

Predictions for tomorrow?

I'm hoping new character, but if not it'll be a new character next week for sure.

You've obviously never fought a pro Jigglypuff fighter, they're amazing. I pretty much want 'em in there so my friend has his best characters again.

 

Yeah I've definitely never taken on anyone good with Jigglypuff. I don't even know anyone who bothers to use him. What about him makes him top-tier material?
