Mega Man official details for those who want them:
Mega Man will have his Leaf Shield and Flame Sword attacks in the game. He uses Rush as his double jump, and also has access to a Metal Blade and Crash Bombs. Mega Man can also do a slide attack.

When he gets KOed, he splits into atoms like the NES games.

Not much to go on but it's something at least. The KO part is going to give me a lot of nostalgia.

    omg xD
At least they've got a humorous one in. I don't think I ever would have guessed this to be official.

    Wii Fit Trainer...wat.

I swear the characters get weirder and weirder sometimes. But that's not a bad thing, imo. More odd characters makes for a diverse roster, and diverse is good in Smash Bros.

This... character is the oddest thing ever. I don't know if I approve of this or not.

found this shot of Skyloft stage, from IGN's website. which looks eerily similar to a mod version

Wii Fit Trainer is really no different than Mr. Game and Watch if you think about it. Game and Watch was a collection of little games around a similar style with absolutely no central plot, and, believe or not, Wii Fit actually is very much a game and has its own collection of novel characters as a result. Of course, there was that cheeky little anthropomorphic Wii board that picked on how skinny I was (internally weeping for past insecurities; okay, so it didn't "pick on" me) and the male trainer. I can see why they went with the Female Trainer, or at least attempt to guess:

    1. Add another female to the roster as there has been a noticeable increase in female gamers over the course of time.
    2. Male would be too obvious. Honestly. Big, buff dude with a gentle voice and he's fighting? At least the Female trainer was Jillian Michaels-esque and aggressive about the workouts (I preferred choosing her over the guy for that)
Or maybe they do have the male in there too. There's very little I know about new content and the game in general. I just really want to play it. I played the original poorly because I sucked at fighting games as a kid (Kirby and Link were the only characters I could play well), I played Melee like it was my religion when that was popular and I kicked major and I got to play Brawl when it was released and promoted at Game Stop machines, so I've always enjoyed the series.
On the other hand, to be honest, only two reasons I enjoyed the Wii were two legit games: Wii Fit and Melee. I didn't even have a Wii; my Uncle and Aunt do. Wii Sports is cool, but not really a legit game in my book; it's marketing and demo material.

The Villager seems to fit that bill a bit better, but it's interesting to see how they bring in these characters that wouldn't normally fit in a fighting game, and give them moves based on their games that actually work. i especially like that the villager can pick up items and throw them back.

Old news yes but I figured some may not pay attention to the updates. Olimar has been confirmed to return but that was sort of obvious.

Also, enjoy a retro version of the trailer.

All I know is, I don't mind either one, and I'm gonna try them at least once. I always loved Game & Watch and R.O.B.'s styles, so I wouldn't count out these newbies either.

They had to confirm him, he's the uncontested king of the Japanese tier list

Would've been perfect if the Mega Man promo was included.

I'm really glad the lack thereof was significant enough to warrant a design tweak.

I always really enjoyed Game & Watch's style. There was a significant basis on luck, which made him difficult to master, but the challenge was welcomed.

Haha, which is funny because, mostly people just don't use his luck-based moves :'D But I getchu. It's fun to throw 'em out now and then, and landing a 9 for the kill might be one of the most sublime experiences there is.

Speaking of which, I hope he's back. Doesn't seem like he'd be first out the door, but you never can tell.

Nah, it's hard to know this time around. They had to make a ton of cuts apparently, which is a shame.

I get why though. It's like they said; putting in more characters isn't adding to the workload, it's multiplying it. Every character has to be re-rendered from scratch, and the more swollen the list gets, the harder the job becomes.

That said, there are a lot of clones and one-off characters that will probably get the axe first. It's basically confirmed that Ike, Toon Link, and Lucario aren't returning, likely to be replaced by Chrom, some other super-deformed Link variant, and... Mmewwtwoooo? Maybeeee...? Please god in heavennnn...?

Toon Link was one of my favorites in Brawl. :c maaan...

Anyhow, it makes sense. It is adding to the workload and it has to be balanced and all that. TOO many characters could make the game really unbalanced if they aren't all checked. Could have some OP characters as a result of it.

    http://gamesided.com/2013/07/25/upcoming-super-smash-bros-no-story-mode/

Apparently the developer got really upset on the fact that the cutscenes were posted online and now refuses to make anymore story modes in Super Smash Brothers.

I am guessing, and I heard this, that Nintendo was already planning on this and they are just blaming the Let's Players and fans because they don't want to take responsibility. I honestly haven't played Super Smash Brothers except the first one and a few times on the Gamecube. So I really don't care otherwise.

What irritates me is Nintendo's policy of people who post these videos and what they think of them. Yes, they'll lose some customers who will just watch it online and not buy the game. But there will be more who they lose because of the fact they're removing story mode which from what it sounds like a lot of people are angry about. This is free advertising for them and they still treat people who do this like they're the sole reason why they're losing profits. But that's just my opinion.

I didn't care for the story mode. It was nice, but a bit long and I enjoyed it.

Ultimately, Smash Bros. has a formula that can be done right always without the need for story.

no story mode? man i was looking forward to the new boss battles:(; we should make a petition to at least have an adventure mode like the one on the gamecube.

that's pretty disappointing. it's actually one of the best aspects about Brawl. the cutscenes did a great job of being interesting despite having no dialogue whatsoever. i hope there is at least SOMETHING to replace it. hopefully, nothing as lame as Playstation All Stars story mode -_- i also hope there are character unlocks in this game, i think it's pretty lame to start out with every single character right the get-go.
