Super Nintendo RPG: Legend of the Many Something-or-Others

His attack had done some damage, but the fight was far from over and Shulk was prepared to continue the fight. He still wished to know who or what they really were, but even so Shulk knew that he would not gain the answers he desired. If he could weaken them by enough he was sure to at least be able to talk to them about the issue and even find out something, no matter how little it would be. His eyes gripping the Monado's hilt tightly he watched on as the red haired man reach out for another one of the balls that he used to summon Pyroar.

He listened to the man speak, but Shulk's eyes widened as they began to flash blue. Another vision began to play in his mind and in it he saw the beast like creature fire a huge blast of energy while another creature attack X from above. The vision immediately ended and Shulk glanced forward as the order was given for Fire Blast and Hi-Jump Kick "X! LOOK OUT ABOVE!" Shulk yelled as the lazer blade of the Monado began to rage more intensely. "Show me the way Monado!" Shulk said rushing forward as a symbol for "speed" appeared on the Monado. Immediately in a burst of speed, Shulk dashed to the side avoiding the Fire Blast and rushed forward at Pyroar before jumping into the air "AIR SLASH!" Shulk yelled swinging the blade down at the Pyroar. If he could manage a blow then Pyroar's movement would be slower and the two of them would have the edge in the battle.

With lance in hand, Zangurak readied himself and swung down the weapon only for him to of been interrupted the the sudden dual attacks from the boy. Steam began to surround the Gurak king, but he was not going to let steam best him so easily. "I see...using steam as a distraction. How cleaver...yet cowardly all the same" Zangurak said as his eyes began to glow red. With a loud roar, Zangurak swung his weapon with great strength and blew the steam away "You'd best keep your guard up!" Zangurak yelled warning the two as he reeled back his lance held arm and tossed the lance forward towards the two. He could have done this without a single form of warning, but he was no coward...he was no human...

 

Though he wondered where exactly Xemnas was headed, what the Superior's plan was, and whether or not he had met Smithy, Xigbar shrugged it off. For now, he had to report to Smithy. With a smile, he tossed on his hood, let his Arrowguns fade away, and walked into his own Corridor of Darkness. As the Corridor faded away behind him, Xigbar's voice lingered through. "This is gonna be one hell of a ride~"

"Bah, talkin' turtle!" Zitz exclaimed in fright as he tumbled backwards onto his rear. His eyes grew wide and -though he still had to crane his head downwards- stared at the Squirtle and at Zitz. "Sq--Squirtle?" He looked at it, confused. "Erm...well...Lil' Squirtle Dude," he emphasized the name, "I'm guessin' you're a little lost, right?" As the 'Toad wondered what world this critter could have come from, he hopped over his two companions, landing on his feet and crouching as much as he could. Assuming the mini shellshocker was a hero (and even if he wasn't, he couldn't just leave him here with Smithy's goons wandering around), Zitz decided to bring Squirtle along. Besides...nothing was wrong with having another reptilian member for the team! "Why don't you come with us? I know a guy who can explain everything that's going on!"

Though he could have called out Yveltal and rode the flying Legendary, Calem decided against it. The Destruction Pokemon could easily keep up with Xerneas (and possibly reach the destination faster by flying), but it wouldn't be able to carry everyone and Calem was saving it as his ace in the hole. He quickly snapped his rollerskates back on and cursed the fact that his bicycle was missing before he took off after the girls. "Come on, Chesnaught!" He called, sprinting full-speed while his Starter followed.

Luigi started to speak, but had to clear his throat first. He kept his eyes on the strange, red, and apparently foul mouthed creature. "I'm..Luigi," he mumbled, waving with one hand. "And I'm...well, a plumber." It sounded embarrassing to say, especially considering that he had helped save the Mushroom Kingdom and more several times, but at the end of the day, he and Mario were both plumbers. 'Mario...' he thought about his brother who he hadn't been able to get a hold of. It was very possible that Mario was already on the case, trying to save the world, as he often did...but usually Luigi had heard about it before hand, at least when it was something of this caliber.

Knuckles spat at the ground. "A prosecutor and a plumber, eh?" He said, unimpressed. Human jobs never interested him much...now sports on the other hand. "Name's Knuckles. The Echidna. I'm the guardian of the Master Emerald!" He introduced himself, not mentioning the destruction of the Emerald. "And this is Rocks-S apparently. And you?" He looked at the girl. Something about her told the Echidna that she was special. Whether it was the fact that she was human, but had green hair or her sword, or even the way she dressed, something was...off about her.

Smiling, Terra tilted her head. "You can call me Terra." She decided to not reveal her former...employment since she wasn't sure what to say (half-Esper? Soldier?) and this wasn't her world. It was pointless to say. "You probably have a lot of questions, questions I'll be glad to answer...but we should wait for the others."

Appalled at Franziska's disregard for the Dark Queen's authority, Dark Queen decided to let it slide this time. Franziska would learn her place in time. "Well, then, gutterskank, just what are you planning on doing with these defective pieces of steel?"

There was a flash of black aura and suddenly, someone appeared between Zangurak's spear and its target. In one quick movement, the purple-clad figure summoned a sword and swung with all his strength, striking the spear's head. The impact hurt his arm and pushed him back, but the spear was deflected nonetheless. It was a show of strength the figure didn't seem like he had. Blue eyes narrowed and stared at Zangurak beneath platinum hair. Muscle-ish armor covered the boy, who barely looked older than Gold, in purple, black, and red. His hand gripped his sword tight, a red blade lined with purple with a single blue eye at the hilt. He swung the blade again, bringing it to his side, his arm still sore from the impact. Even with his power, the spear was still too large and thrown by a being of apparently pure brute force. However, the boy showed no crack in his emotion. He slightly tilted his head to the armored man and boy behind him, whom he just saved, and spoke sternly, "Go." With that, he turned to the side and braced himself. With one open hand towards the spearwielder and one hand holding his blade near his face, he spoke once more, "I'm not going to save you again."

 

The warrior should have known their smoke screen tactic would not work against such a power house. For once, he felt a twinge of fear, not for himself but for this child, this child who had no need to be here. If he didn't do anything, Gold would die. He turned, about to draw his sword to attempt a parry at the shield. Even if the parry was not successful and he was struck down, at least Gold would have time to escape. It was like a slow motion movie, but the spear was struck, not by his sword, but by the sword of another, smaller figure. A figure dressed in black, purple, and red, much similar to the War King they had encountered. The boy's voice held no room for objection, the stoic warrior nodded but he knew the truth, the boy was a hero, he saved them both. He wouldn't have bothered if he wasn't one. He turned to Gold, focusing his brilliant blue eyes on him."Gold, he is right."He said, helping the boy off of the ground and turned, but then looked back to the silver haired hero."Be careful."He warned, running off alongside Gold."That boy won't keep him for long, but at least we can distance ourselves away from that fiend."He told Gold.​

The thrown lance had been interrupted by the sudden interruption by a newcomer. He was caught off guard by his sudden appearance, but at the same time quite intrigued. "Impressive...to of managed to block my lance like that in such a sudden moment...most impressive indeed" Zangurak said as he begun to walk towards the newcomer with his heavy footsteps and a smirk upon his face. His footsteps forward immediately stopped and Zagurak pointed his palm forward "Well then, let us see how strong you really are" Zangurak said as three seconds past and a huge ball of fire was shot straight at the silver haired boy.

 

"Hey, I used to be human, too!" Zitz exclaimed with a grin that spanned his face. "Though I didn't just wake up like this, an evil, mad scientist dude did this to me! Wonder if that's what happened to you?" The Battletoad took a step back, tilting his face his head. One hand held his chin and its respective elbow rested on his other hand as he pondered. "So I became a Battletoad and you're some kind of...teenage...mutant...hero turtle?" Zitz shook his head furiously. "Weird, but no time to think about that now! We're almost there. Just up over that fallen tree and we should be there!" Pointing over Squirtle's head to a massive tree that rested on the ground.

"Seed Bomb!" Calem yelled, pointing to a bird-like creature with axe blades for wings and a spear for a beak. Chesnaught grunted a confirmation before it spat out several large seeds, each exploding on impact as it hit the "Axebird." Chesnaught watched his opponent hit the ground, its body cracking with a shrill shriek. "Ches?" It asked Calem, hurriedly. "Body Slam, Chesnaught! Let's go!" yelled the Trainer as he sped forward towards the girls. Behind him, he heard the shatter of crystal and a loud thud before Chesnaught's footsteps resumed behind him. Within a few moments, he caught up -Chesnaught mere seconds behind him- he was watching Xemnas disappear from sight. "That guy again?" Calem asked, his body tense. "What's his deal?" He asked. Receiving no answer, he looked around. His body became lax when he realized he couldn't see nor hear any more crystal weapons. The young trainer returned his Chesnaught to his Pokeball.
As they ran, Calem studied their surroundings. Besides the extremely large plants with gaping, fanged jaws, there was nothing else. The crystal weapons have apparently left this part of the forest untouched...but that didn't explain the lack of animals. Except for their little group and the plants, Calem couldn't spot any living creatures. Unfortunately, the arrival of the Trainers at the forest's central clearing ended his thinking. Now the Trainers were face-to-face with a man in a suit, a green-haired lady, a boy in a black hood, a little man wearing all green, and...some kind of Pokemon, maybe? It wasn't one that he recognized. Looking around, Calem swallowed. "Um...hi?"


"What?" Terra's head snapped instantly to look towards her right. But there was nothing there. The young woman kept her grip tight on her sword's hilt, but whatever she had sensed was gone. 'Could Smithy's forces have found us?' However, before she could worry about that possibility, she noticed four figures arriving from that direction.
"There's more of them now," Terra noted, relaxing. Coming up through a gap in the trees was...a group of children? Terra frowned. She couldn't place this kind of burden on children...though it wouldn't have been the first time. Terra struggled to figure out what these children (three girls and one boy) were capable of, but it wasn't a power she could sense...though she could sense what felt like the faint residue trails of different...powers, each unique in its signature. Regardless, she placed a hand on her chest, smiling warmly. "Welcome. My name is Terra and I've been waiting for you." She turned to gesture towards the others. "This is Miles Edgeworth, Luigi, Knuckles, and Roxas," she introduced them all as if they were all old friends.

The replica quickly brought his hand back and shot it out again, shooting a Dark Firaga towards Zangurak's attack. A fireball with a purple aura flew from the replica's palm and collided with Zangurak's attack, causing a small explosion and smoke to cover the space between them. With no time to waste, the replica dashed forward through the smoke, using it as a cover, and jumped. In a flash, he was above Zangurak's head, his blade coming down hard.

Once again his vision was blurred by the the sudden smoke that was caused by the collision of flames. He knew that the boy would take this moment as an advantage, it was the human thing to do after all. In such a moment Zangurak was at a disadvantage with all the heavy armour that coated him, but his strength was always his strongest point. A sound above had caught his attention and immediately Zangurak raised his left arm which was covered by a huge shield. Moving as fast as the armored man could use attempted to block the blow and knock the boy away with the swing of his mighty arm.

 

Clang! The sound of the Replica's sword hitting Zangurak's shield was ear-shattering. The Replica grunted before he was thrown back several yards. "Hmph," he slid back on his feet. This definitely wasn't a fight he was going to win by himself... regardless, he disappeared in a purple flash. In a brief moment, he appeared over Zangurak, aiming his sword down, and fell onto the ground behind the Gurak king. There was a shockwave of darkness shooting out in a perfect circle with the Replica at its epicenter. Though at this point, the Replica doubted if it would even slow Zangurak down.

The forest was mostly silent, even as the soldier stomped through the overgrown plantlife, somehow not finding any loose twigs beneath his feet despite how casually he was approaching the situation.
The situation had really gotten wild quickly. One minute Snake had been in the middle of a mission, and the next here he was, having been essentially recruited into something that seemed to have nothing to do with him at all. Regardless, the fact was that the man known by the codename of Solid Snake was a soldier. Fighting battles that aren't his was his job, and even if it wasn't profitable, that meant doing what he could for whoever appeared to be in the right.
The silence suddenly broke, as the sound of rapid footsteps began to ring out in his section of the forest. The source of them was unknown, but Snake already had an incline, standing up to his full height and mounting his weapon on his back. He rubbed down his arms and stretched them, apparently preparing himself for some kind of excersize, before suddenly throwing out his arm with a loud grunt, it colliding with something mere seconds after.
"Kept me waiting, huh?" the operative said, looking down at the now-floored blue Hedgehog, Sonic, as he took out a small packet of cigarettes, taking one from the half-empty package, and placing the filter end in his mouth without lighting it. "Been a while, Hedgehog. Sorry about the rough handling, but we're short on time."
He held out his hand to the famous blue blur, still holding the cigarette packaging.
"Smoke?"

Sonic's high-speed run through the forest was cut abruptly short as he was taken to the ground by the outstretched arm of Solid Snake. It took Sonic a few moments to register what had just happened and why he was suddenly looking up at the sky.​

It was then that Snake spoke up, saying that they were short on time before holding his hand out, offering Sonic a smoke.
Sonic took Snake's hand and was helped up to his feet. Shaking off his disorientation, Sonic spoke back to Snake.
"No thanks. I don't smoke." Sonic declined before taking a look at his surroundings.
More forest. Fantastic.
"Great. Nothing around here that stands out..." Sonic groaned before looking up at Snake. "You've probably got some kind o' fancy-shmancy find-what-we're-looking-for device, right? You military-types usually have stuff like that. Well...Military-types and Tails...But whatever."

Zitz angled his head quizzically. Race? Seriously? On those tiny legs? And regardless of what Squirtle said, it was still a turtle, right? The 'Toad let out a laugh that came out surprisingly like a croak. "You should learn to pick your battles, little shellman!" He exclaimed as he tapped Ritz on the back (albeit with a bit too much force). "Watch this!" In an instant and with incredible speed, the Battletoad crouched, his knees level with his head, sprung forward over Ritz and Squirtle, threw a leg out, and catapulted himself forward off of another tree before flipping through the air and landing on his webbed feet on the other side of the fallen tree. "That's what a Battletoad is!" He exclaimed. That's when he looked forward and realized they weren't alone. "Oh, hey, Terra! You found some, too, eh?" He grinned as he looked around at the motley crew before him.

With a gentle smile, the warrior woman nodded. "Well, actually, they came to me," she explained to her comrade. "Zitz, meet Luigi, Miles Edgeworth, Knuckles, Serena, Calem, Crystal, May, and Roxas." She motioned to each one of them before being introduced to the two that Zitz found. "It also seems that we have more arriving..." she noticed as two shadows of opposing heights waltzed into view. With another gentle smile in their direction, Terra waved, "Welcome, heroes."

"Sonic!" Knuckles jumped at the sight of the hedgehog. "You are here! This is somehow your fault, right?!"

Calem nodded awkwardly at the introductions until he noticed one of the newcomers. "Hey, that's a Squirtle! I hatched one from my Blastoise's egg just the other day!"

 

As Crystal and May caught up to Serena, they couldn't help but wonder about the significance of the previous events. Who the hey was Xemnas? Why was he helping them? Unless it was a trick. Crystal wasn't one to trust people immediately, but Xemnas didn't seem hostile yet. They didn't seem to have much of a choice though.

Crystal stepped through the portal after Serena and the others. Serena was questioning a kid dressed like Xemnas, and he promptly denied her claims. But one thing did catch her attention. He had said "anymore." That meant he was with Xemnas at one point. This kid was worth keeping around, for now at least. Crystal stepped forward to greet him. "Well hiya. I'm Crystal. That over there is May." She indicated to the brunette who waved happily.

From the trees, a young orange haired girl stared down at the animals that were talking. Now, she had seen weird stuff in her life, but nothing compared to this. If she was going to be paid for taking in the blue one, she was expecting big money. After all, a mercenary couldn't just catch large animals like this for the standard price. A girl had to make a living somehow. She turned to her companion, who was making a lot of noise, and glared. "Cynthia, if you don't shut up, I swear to gawds I'm going to make you."

"Sorry." The younger girl said. She clapped her hands over her mouth and looked at Severa's targets. "You can do this Sevy! I believe in you! I'm sure Father does too!"

Severa gave her a swift kick to shut her up. She smiled with satisfaction at Cynthia's pained squeak that was muffled by her hands.

The boy was fast and able to react quite quickly and more and more Zangurak was getting quite impressed by the boy that he fought...even if he was one of those disgusting humans. Once again the boy disappeared and appeared above the Gurak and before he could chastise the boy for repeating the same move, Zangurak was immediately proven wrong as the boy aimed for the ground behind him instead of himself. Immediately trying to turn to address the move, Zangurak raised his arms over his chest as the force of the attack pushed him back slightly, a wide grin upon his face as his eyes begun to glow a bright red.

 

Luigi looked around cautiously and anxious as everyone introduced themselves. Was no one going to talk about what was going on? As they all huddled towards Terra, Luigi decided to explore Mushroom Forest, or what it once was. Holding his Poltergust handy, he neared the edge of the clearing. "Oh, Mario. Where are you?" He asked the sky, hoping Mario was already on the case. As the conversations behind him became quieter in the distance, Luigi noticed something: some of the pebbles on the ground were...shaking. Curiously, he moved forward until he was virtually over them and knelt down. "Wha-" Suddenly, something green shot out from the ground! "Agh!" Luigi fell onto his rear and stumbled backwards as a Warp Pipe grew out in front of him. "Um, um, um!" Luigi freaked, looking around to see several more Warp Pipes popping up around the group. "Hey!!" He yelled at them, standing up.

"What is this about?" Asked Knuckles, tensing up his body. The red echidna looked around hurriedly, fists balled, and prepared for anything.

"Sylveon, Chesnaught, go!" Calem called two of his Pokemon just as he saw crystal weapons emerging from the newly-arrived pipes. Nervously, he rubbed his Mega Ring. "Not these guys again," he mumbled, "Get ready, guys! Serena, looks like we're at this again!"


"By the order of the All-New Smithy Gang and the Dark Mage Smithy himself, you are all hereby under arrest!" A mechanical voice called out from the darkness behind the growing army of crystal weapons. The ground shook as a hulking figure appeared: A bipedal machine armed with several firearms walked onto the scene, a masked man at the helm. On his shoulder, a cannon rested. The man entered his coordinates into a panel before sending them out. "Oh, I'm not kidding anyone," Vile yelled as his shoulder cannon aimed itself towards the group, "We're here to blow everyone up!"


"Oh, yeah?" Zitz asked, cracking his knuckles. "You and what army, punk?" He demanded defiantly. Then he realized what he said, "This army? Come on now..." he stepped in front of Ritz and Squirtle protectively. "You're going to have to do better than that!"

"Oh no," Terra whispered, unsheathing her blade. Their extraction plan wasn't ready yet and she seriously doubted that these 'heroes' were prepared for a battle of this caliber. She looked around, seeing them completely surrounded by Smithy's forces. "You will not blow anything up!" She yelled, stepping forward to take point as Luigi scuttled past her back into the group. She waved her sword with a snap, causing it to glow. "You let Smithy know that we are not letting him take this world, or any other world!"

"Oh please, sweetheart" a sultry voice challenged. The Dark Queen appeared near Vile with Franziska and her group of soldiers. "And who are you to defy my Smithy, you trashy bimbo?" She laughed at the sight of the opposition. "Don't they teach how to count in your world? You are outnumbered! Ha! Wait...it's you!" She growled, pointing at Zitz.

A flurry of some form of arrows landed in the spaces between the heroes and crystal weapons, signalling the appearance of Xigbar. "Well, then, looks like the party started without me!" He exclaimed, a hint of false disappointment in his voice. "Better late than ever, I say," he waved his guns as he disappear and reappeared behind the group. With Vile, Dark Queen, and Franzika in front and himself in back, he laughed. "Is that you, Roxas? Yeah, it's gotta be. You got that angry kitten face you always do! Do you think these new friends of yours are going to end up any better than your last ones?" His Arrowguns disappeared as a Corridor of Darkness opened on either side. A squadron of crystal weapons exited through each. "As if. You gotta learn to stick with the winning side, kid."

The Replica raised his blade again. This large foe was definitely someone that he wouldn't be able to take down by himself. No. The Replica didn't need help; he didn't need anyone. "Just who are you exactly?" He asked, missing the irony of the question coming from him. "You're not a Heartless. Are you with them? Are you with the Organization?!" He demanded. The cruelties placed upon the Replica came rushing back as his body started to glow. "Tell me!!" It was then that he sensed it. He could smell Darkness nearby. "Is that it? Then I'll enjoy this even more!" He lunged forward and slashed at Zangurak, faster and stronger than before as he started to embrace his Dark Aura.

Lysandre ducked with above-human reflexes, avoiding X's shots. "It seems your cyber suit is a little more advantageous than my own," he chuckled as he stood up. On his wrist, his Holo-Caster beeped. He only needed to flash a quick glance towards it to see a set of numbers. "Ah, Silver. It looks like Vile found the rest of them. They're not far." He tapped on the Holo-Caster -bringing up a map- as if he wasn't in a battle. "Pyroar! Let's take this battle to the slaughter! To the left and Echoed Voice!" Pyroar growled and ran to the side before roaring towards X and Shulk. "Meinfoo, Force Palm them back!" As his other Pokemon yelled its own name, Lysandre saw it slam its palm into Shulk's chest, causing a shockwave to push him into Pyroar's attack. "Come on, Silver. Vile has the reinforcements, so we will take this battle there!"

"Elena..."

Where was he? and how did he get here? There were many questions that blurred the mind of the golden haired man but even so there was something that bothered him greatly, something that rested upon his left arm. As he walked through the mysterious forest he appeared in, Aeron could only stare down at the mechanism that held the mysterious chain that he was entrusted with. "The Oraclos chain...why do I have it....is Elena well?" Aeron said closing his eyes. Having this chain was a great mystery and Aeron had a bad feeling about this. This chain brought back memories that he did not wish to recall, but even so the main concern was the status of his love. This chain bound the two of them, and though he used it for conflict at the very least he was able to tell she was safe.

Shulk's eyes widened instantly as the sudden dodge of his attack occurred and Shulk was left out in the open for the sudden blow from the other beast known as Meinfoo. Shulk immediately moved the Monado towards his chest once the Meinfoo attempted to attack the chest and with the sudden blast towards him, he was sent towards the attack of the Pyroar. Having fallen to the ground, Shulk held himself up with the Monado being stuck into the ground and held it tightly as he tried to endure the attack.

Zangurak's eyes narrowed with a smirk as the replica dashed forward straight towards him and slashed. Darkness was building up in the boy before him and that darkness was strengthening him as well. Even though it did such a thing he knew that it was only something that would only dilute the mind. The power that the Gurak king held was something that could tell him of this. A power of hatred that only burned and burned, it was what fed Zangurak. The power of the Outside was that of something out of this world and with it he would move one step closer to being something close to a god.

Bringing forth his left arm, he used it to block the blow with the massive shield upon his arm and skid back a bit. With the blow blocked, the giant immediately vanished and reappeared where his lance had landed when it was thrown earlier. "I am Zangurak, King of the Gurak" Zangurak declared as he grabbed the hilt of the ground stuck lance. "Such darkness is suited for humans..." Zangurak said with a small tone of disgust but soon a small smirk appeared upon his face. "but this does not apply to you now does it?" Zangurak said lifting up his lance. "You may go, for I have other business to attend to...however if you wish to continue then I will not stop you..." Zangurak said.
