Well, for the 3DS tournament, I'd have no problem at all playing against other imperfect Pokemon. However, I'm not one to deny that some people legitimately trained perfect Pokemon, and in that case, the fault is mine for not perfecting my team. I just kinda don't expect that to be the case every match.

No reason to delay one for the other, honestly. I mean, once we have brackets and rules set.

I kind of assumed that this would be a smogon level competitive tournament where perfect pokemon are pretty much expected. I would be an advantage in a 3DS tournament because I have legal perfect pokemon on my game and apparently most of you dont.

Like I said, there has be to a certain amount of trust that you didn't just generate those Pokemon. I do trust that you didn't, unless you explicitly state that you did.

(also, we do want to be more courteous to people who don't play competitive frequently, even if it is a tournament)

    ALSO I MADE THIS.

But that doesn't matter. How I obtained them is irrelevant, I am openly admitting that I genned them. The point is that they are legitimate pokemon that do noit break any rules. They are legitimate even down to the trash bytes stored in the nickname data.

This is kinda why I said we should establish how competitive this is. I think it's totally fair to have IV bred and EV trained pmon play against ones that weren't, but every player needs to be aware of this. I've never played in a competitive scene or played in a tournament that followed Smogon's regulations, but this is KHV, this thread exists to create our own regulations, we don't need to follow Smogon because we're following our own rules. Sure, we can use Smogon's regs as a basis, but we don't have to follow them to a t.

@burnitup check the OP for questions on Smogon.

Then don't partake in the 3DS Tournament. It's simple, mate. You can play in the Simulator Tournament :P

But I want the snazzy graphics of X and Y. Do you really think it matters just because I didn't ride around on a bike hatching eggs for hours? Theyre the same pokemon, I just didnt waste any time.

Implying I did waste my time, because I stuck to training my Pokemon using only the games and consoles that I legally own.

Look, I don't want this to be an argument about generating. If need be, we can just stick to the simulator, but I'm adamant in my belief that the two formats should not be mixed for tournaments.

@Hayabusa @Karuta Realistically, to an informed trainer, a genned legal Pokemon with perfect IV's and EV's that is an exact copy of a trained one (i. e. with legal moves and abilities) is no different from a trained one in numbers alone, but in a 3ds tournament there will be people who don't IV/EV, meaning that the player will feel like they're at a disadvantage. I don't have a problem with genned Pokemon in a 3ds tournament, but for the sake of keeping an element of fairness and keeping players who don't IV/EV happy, it would be best to not allow genned Pokemon in the 3ds tournament and keep them in the simulator tournament. And if we're having both anyway, there's no reason to allow genned pokemon in the 3ds tournament because it would be no different from the simulator tournament. gotta keep things interesting

And there's no reason you couldn't IV/EV train a team, Karuta. It's not like the tournament is tomorrow. You have time.

How does one even IV or EV train Pokémon?

You cannot actually train Pokemon to have certain IV's: it's purely strategizing how you breed them. If you want perfect IV's, the most effective way to go about it is having someone in your Friend Safari with Ditto's, since they automatically have a few perfect IV's that can then be bred into whatever Pokemon can breed with Ditto.

EV Training, as of X/Y, is easy. Get the Pokemon you want to EV Train, spend around 12 minutes with the Super Training mini-game, focusing on the games that affect the stats you want or using bags to help, and you'll have a Pokemon EV trained for what you want it to do.

I've used the method before, but I just prefer not dealing with having to find the right hordes. Rain, for instance, makes it so you can't even use Sweet Scent.

...While we're all here, what do you guys say to a Spam Zone or Gaming thread to keep track of everyone's Friend Safaris? I'm thinking it might look something like this:

    • Sora
      *FC: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
      *Pokémon: Mincinno; Aipom
    • Kairi
      *FC: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
      *Pokémon: Clefairy; Floette
    • Riku
      *FC: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
      *Pokémon: Absol; Purrloin

I'm open to this. Make it like an invitation, though we might want to decide on our rules first? Don't want people to join and then not participate since they don't like certain restrictions.

I had planned to place one in here once we had everything figured out and it was closer to time for the tournament. It would also be used for any play post-tournament.

I'm trying to get some definitive decisions down so we can keep progressing in the planning process.
As far as the tournament itself is concerned this is where we stand, yes?

    2 tournaments
A 3ds tournament where anyone can play where no genned Pokemon are allowed officially.
A simulator tournament for competitive players.

I want to ensure that casual players who may not want to play super competitively have a place to play as well in hopes that this will increase the number of participants, and since some people have expressed disapproval of genned mons, this will give them a place to play as well. However many people here seem to be at least somewhat competitive, so there will also be a simulator tournament for them. This may have to be adjusted depending on how many people want to play (will advertise/ interest check once we get things figured out).
