Implemented Suggestions For The Family Zone

I have a few suggestions for the Family subforum, before I start though, I would like to ask that unless you are in a forum family, (or staff) please do not post here as the suggestions and outcomes wouldn't have a direct effect on you anyway. It is the forum family members I really want a response from.


Firstly; I would like to suggest that members are restricted to making only one family. Some members are the creators of several, which clutters up the zone for one thing, for another it means there are several dozen small rarely active families. Admittedly this was mainly there when Swordser was active, however there is nothing to prevent a repeat.


Secondly; and this is the main suggestion I have, please can we have a stickied thread for the heads of families to discuss problems. I ask this because recently there are a few misunderstandings with family members going from one family to another saying things. This mess could have been avoided if there was more communication between the different families. I also think that more communication between the families would be benficial anyway, especially as some problem members are in several families.

Thirdly; for the Love of god, put a damn mod in there! Families are dealing with issues internally, some even have their own councils (Kadaj family I believe) or their own versions of warnings (Family Random has a strikes system), but sometimes we need the help of the staff to sort out some problems, xD we do a good job at handling problems internally, but there is only so much that the families can do.

I have others, but I think 3 is enough for now :3

I thought it was already a rule that peole could only be in one family. o,o

But yeah, I do agree with all suggestions put forward.

 

There are some members who are in several families, and that I do not have an issue with, it is when members are CREATING more than one family that it becomes an annoyance xD

I think they are good, but with the mod idea we may need mulitple cause their are a mulitude of families some of which post a shiz load, so it may be difficult to fully mod with only one staff. Kinda like the RP sec.

 

That's a very good point xD another reason why 2 would be good is that some of the families are massive, so if something major was going off in more than one then it could get out of control.​

 

I've only been here for a month, but I already know how easily chaotic a family can become in a short amount of time, and therefore harder to keep a decent control over. I can only imagine how humongous the other families must be compared to the one I am in, and how easily problematic it could become if a situation gets out of hand.

My only suggestion would be to have some of the family members help informing the family leaders or mods if something like this happens, having more eyes can help loads.

 

Well that is how it is so far xD but having our own mod for the section could help a heck of a lot xD as it is the members do keep an eye out, :P but I still think the section needs a mod :)​

 

Yeah I would have to completely agree with you. Familys can kinda get outa hand sometimes.

I agree completely with this x] As far as I can see the Family section has been giong along merrily with very little regulation when some is sorely needed in certain areas.

Are members limited to only joining a certain number of families? I personally think that you should only be allowed to join one, but I think joining two should be fine. But anymore than two just defeats the purpose of having families in the first place.

 

I say yes, It would help the forum.

 

these sound like good ideas. espcially the one about the one family thing.

 

I'm not a member in there but browsing through, I did see what you meant about it being rather a mess and all. I agree with the suggestions you propose and think a mod and some clean up in there would help people to be able to join families easier if they wanted. Also, if someone joins a group, not sure why they would be in more than that group or possibly two. That almost entirely berefts the purpose of it, I would think. It seems others who are actually in there seem to agree too.

 

I completely agree on all three...although for the second one, I believe people ought to have like a second chance...for instance, say they made a family, but no one joined so it disappeared. Like, they should be able to delete that one to start a new, better one...if that sounds alright with everyone else...:sweatdrop:

Some people seem to dislike joining more than one family...but I don't see anything wrong with that. More families, more friends - we're not rivals or enemies...at least, that's my opinion...

It's not their fault if no one wants to join ^_^
But I think they are suppose to contact a mod if no one joins or if it gets no attention... (mostly because of CtR's suggestion # 1... Many members make more than 1 family, and they might become active faster than others, so they should have 2nd chances)


CtR, you are very wise, and you came up with great suggestions =D

 

It's not that, it's that a family is supposed to be a group of like-minded people to hang around with. IRL you only get one, maybe two families (marriage, adoption etc). Family is supposed to be something special, being in more than two takes that away and makes a mockery of having families at all.
