Didn' t you say you' re learning Japanese ? I learned English playing games and watching movies in English. Trust me, it' s a very effective way to learn while having fun at the same time.

Oh. Right. I don't read though, so I'll have some trouble. No matter. :3" It's for any regular ol' DS, right? My brother kept saying 3DS...

Well, I do have some suggestions although most are RPGs as I'll recommend ones that aren't on here right now.

    PS1
Legend of Legaia (This game is very good, you fight creatures of the dreaded Mist called Seru with otherworldy beings called Ra-Seru, it's got a good story behind it)
Digimon World 3/2003 (Yes, Digimon World did have sequels but 3 has you control 3 Partner Digimon at once from Season 1-3)
Grandia (I haven't played this game but I seen a walkthrough of it on Youtube and it's got such a fantastic story)
Breath of Fire III/IV (Great game in which you can transform into a dragon, enough said.)

    PS2
I played Rogue Galaxy and it's a good game made by Level 5 despite the fact it's a long one lol
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (Again, another game developed by Square Enix and Level 5, basically, you travel around the world to hunt down a clown who turned your kingdom into shambles and changed the Princess and King into a horse and toad with a magic staff.)
Shadow Hearts Series (I'm surprised someone else has these but it's an awesome series, you fight demons and collect their souls to fuse with them!)
Grandia II (A completely different world from Grandia I as you take control of Ryudo, a Geohound who starts his job protecting Elena to a ritual to seal the Darkness of Valmar but fails as she becomes one with it's wings, starting a journey to the capital)
Breath of Fire V (The last in the BoF Series sadly, again transform into a dragon but you have a limiter, if you transform too much, you die before a certain point of the game.)
Inuyasha and the Secret of the Cursed Mask (Sadly, this game never saw UK shores but basically, you are sent back to the Fedual Era and travel with the gang to find a way back home)
Sonic Mega Collection (All of the Sonic games you could ever want!)
Legaia 2: Duel Saga (A completely different world to the original game, as Lang, you travel to find the thief who stole the Aqualith from your home and you learn your a Mystic, a being who can commuicate with nature)
Wild Arms 4/5 (Wild West-like games)

    PS3
Sonic 2006 (The first Sonic game on current-gen)
Blazblue (Fighting game pretty much but great voice acting)

    DS
    FFIII/IV
    FFT2: Grimoire of the Rift
    FFXII: RW
    Megaman Starforce 1/2/3
    Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2009/10

    PSP
Yu-Gi-Oh Tag Force Series (5 in all so far)
    Lunar Sliver Story

    In your opinion.
Like some others I actually quite enjoyed Sonic 2006 as Sonic and Shadow but Silver was too slow and the telekinesis mechanic was so-so. But Knuckles and Rouge where game breakers which was an incredibly fun brief moment of screwing about.

Unfortunately, the majority of the game isn't playing as anyone. It's waiting at the loading screens.

Ps2: Devil May Cry, FFX, Shadow of Colossus, MGS2 and 3...

    Ps3: MGS4, DMC4 and Bayonetta.

PSP: Dissidia, Crisis core, Yu-Gi-Oh Tag force. (There are 5 tag force games.)

Sonic R is included in Sonic Gems Collection, along with Sonic CD and Sonic Fighters. And yes, it's a good game. (I wonder what the original soundtrack was like though).

I know it's for the GCN and the PS2, but it might have been for the Xbox too.

Gems Collection is okay, but Sonic Mega Collection is better. It has all the older, original games, while Gems focuses more on the obscure stuff.

    PC:
The Monkey Island Series: Any of them except #4 (Escape from Monkey Island) is considered fantastic by fans and critics alike (Critics thought Escape was decent, fans tend to despise it). I would start with The Curse of Monkey Island (#3) or the episodic series Tales of Monkey Island. The first two have recently been remade, too; they're both available on Steam. My personal favorite is the second one <: . They are point-and-click adventure games, well-scripted and hilarious to boot.
Grim Fandango: From the same people who made Monkey Island, and another classic.
Umineko no Naku Koro ni: aka "When the Seagulls Cry," a murder mystery 'novel' series presented on the computer with graphics and music (visual novel). Fantastic series with fantasy elements, good characters and a great overarching mystery, but if you want amazing artwork it's probably not for you (lest you import the PS3 version).

    PS2:
.hack//G.U.: A simple, if a little frustrating action RPG, with an interesting plot. I also personally just loved the combined Cel-shading and 3D presentation. Voice acting's okay, but for the most part not amazing, and some characters are fracking grating to listen to. Great music, though.

    PSP:
Lumines: A puzzle game similar to Tetris with fracking amazing music. That's all there is to say.
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Federation vs. Z.A.F.T. Portable: One of the few genuinely solid Gundam games, I can't say more because I am godawful at it but B| .
Pangya Fantasy Golf: Okay I KNOW. I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKING. But this game is SO MUCH FUN. I picked it up... Oh... Probably a little over a year ago and I still play and enjoy it all the time. It has a very smooth presentation and simple mechanics, overall just lots of fun to play. And I dislike golf.
Archer Maclean's Mercury: This was actually a PSP launch title, but it's a solid and challenging puzzle game. You are given a blob of mercury on a stage which you can tilt, and you lead it around the stage (usually some kind of maze) performing various tasks.

    DS:
Time Hollow: A visual novel-esque adventure game about a boy named Ethan Kairos who wakes up on his seventeenth birthday to find that his parents have disappeared, and he must manipulate time to save them. Characters were a bit flat, but the voice work, art, and animation were all fantastic. It's also very short, and I'm glad I own it if only for the fact that it's a great title to loan out to friends. If you're not planning on doing that though, you may consider renting it. Also, the theme song is amazing, just sayin'.
Ace Attorney series: A fantastic series of visual novel/adventure games centering around lawyer Phoenix Wright's misadevntures. Hilariously well-scripted to the point that it manages to cover up what would otherwise be a pretty dark plot. Mechanics are okay, art is good, and they're long enough to keep you entertained for at least ten to fifteen hours I'd say.
Hotel Dusk Room 215: Another adventure game lol. Follows the story of former detective Kyle Hyde as he searches for a missing friend. Have yet to get very far, but it's critically acclaimed and the presentation is lovely.

OTOH, a sprite patch will probably be made for the PC version to bring it up to scratch.
