Just got back about five minutes ago from dropping my mom off at work, and I hit our garage door -- I couldn't get stopped. Luckily, no major damage was done -- just a dent.
He's using the word "stopped" as an adjective, which is a perfectly valid use for that form of any verb. It's called the past participle.
I've done that, too, except it was a golf cart. What they're trying to say is instead of trying to fix whatever needs to be fixed/replaced, you're making a thread about the fact that you've damaged something.
Have you ever tried fixing a dent? You tend to make it worse in most cases, unless you actually know what you're doing.
