My favorite is Princess Mononoke. Everything about that movie is beautiful.

Spirited Away, Castle in the Sky, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Howl's Moving Castle are all a close second.

I've also seen Ponyo, but I wasn't totally impressed with it. Not to mention the English voice acting was terrible.

    *cough*

Well I haven't watched many films due to lack of money and such. But I do enjoy the films I have watched. Spirited Away being my favorite still.
I need to watch more so I'll watch the ones mentioned as favorites.

    Castle in the Sky
    Kiki's Delivery Service
    Princess Mononoke
    Spirited Away
    The Cat Returns
    Howl's Moving Castle
    Whisper of the Heart

I've seen these and I love them! I know it is a short list and I am dieing to see the rest of them

My favorite has to be Howl's Castle. i am a total Fan Girl for that movie. The plot is so creative and I must thank the writer of the book for coming up with such an amazing idea. I mean who would think of a wizard living in this moving castle made out of parts of anything laying around?
And then to have a curse put on to make a 19 year old 90! xD

(which i am still trying to get a hold of)
Miyazaki is just a master mind! and love the art and how he makes my imagination go wild with all the things that happen in his films.

Like in Spirited Away, I'm not going to lie I totally cried! It was so beautiful ya' know.
And then with Disney they really work hard to make the characters come to life.
Anne Hathaway did a great job with the main character from The Cat Returns.

I really enjoyed it but yeah I do see your point about it being insanely hyped up. I think that's just mainly because it flung Studio Ghibli more into the western spotlight. No cinemas near me would have even touched a film like that before Spirited away won that Oscar.

Also on another note, I recently got Arrietty on DVD. It was good but the dubbing was strange, apparently they have a US dub and a UK dub, and the UK dub isn't spectacular in my opinion, and the the story was a little bit meandering I suppose. It set up a lot of loose ends that it didn't tie off. The animation is just insanely stunning though, as always.

Laputa: Castle in the Sky is top of my list, because not only was it the first Studio Ghibli film I saw, it was also the first Anime anything I saw and it was years until I started watching more Anime stuff, but out of all of the ones I've seen, 'Only Yesterday' was the one I didn't fully enjoy, I almost didn't enjoy Totoro that much, but I watched it from a childs point of view (Even though I was 21 when I saw it) so I did enjoy the wonder of it.

I was so incredibly happy when I asked my mum to buy Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle (cause I heard Studio Ghibli was really good and I missed it on Disney, so I wanted to just start with two and so I asked for those) but she came with the whole collection of Ghibli films. I was screaming.

I absolutely love everything. All the films just brought me to tears at one point and moved me.
Though honestly, I just fell in love with Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away equally I think. I'm in love with how they did the art, the story line, the voice acting, colours... AH. Everything. It's so out of this world and so gorgeous. I dream of being part or making something just like Howl's or Spirirted. I'm forever mindblown by these two films.

    - Castle in the Sky
    - Grave of the Fireflies
    - My Neighbor Totoro
    - Kiki's Delivery Service
    - Princess Mononoke (own)
    - Spirited Away (own)
    - Howl's Moving Castle (own)
    - Ponyo
    - Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (own)

I'm wanting to see the rest of them and own the rest of them. My first Ghibli film I saw was Kiki's Delivery Service and it was no Cartoon Network back in ye olde days'. My favorite is Kiki's Delivery Service cause it was the one that got me started into Ghibli, so it holds a special place in me. Grave of the Fireflies, was the most saddening tear jerking movie I have ever seen. I felt so sad and depressed after watching that I moped the rest of the day.
