The latest interview with Capcom's representative on SF4 didn't say anything about its graphics. Apparently even simply discussing it would've given away the approach Capcom is taking with the game. He did say the trailer was supposed to hold most of the answers in regards to the type of format the game was going to take. other than that nothing was said.

Here's it's link. Other than that I haven't been able to find anything article-wise. It could just be my resources though.

My theory is that it's either going to be in both 3D and in 2D (seperate games/changable in options menu) or it's going to be 3D with that cel shaded look from the trailer.

Wouldn't that be amazing to play the game exactly how it looks in the trailer :D
That's what I want it to look like. Though if it goes 3D it may lose it's intense fast gameplay that only 2D can give D:

We could also be looking at transitions between both dimensions or possibly an arrangement to give us some form of "2.5D".

Meh...I think the street fighters series is ok...though I guess the whole hit-and-guard system can b quite cheap...

I used to love the Street Fighter games back when they first came out. I haven't played a 3d version of it so I might check that out, but the good old 2d games were entertaining.

Well if we were to compare it to a game like say Smash Bros, the block in Smash can actually negate damage for a period of time (until it breaks). In Street Fighter there has always been chip damage with blocking, and like smash guard can be broken by grabbing. With the advent of the series brought about by 3rd Strike we saw the use of the parry which is really no different than side dodging and requires just as much timing for execution.

In the context of what, no platforming? There's a lot more hesitation with facing an opponent and you can't as easily fly over them to gain a new vantage point if that's what you mean.
