Stranded

Matt nodded, still smirking as he scrubbed the wood pannels. "Have you been enjoying the cruise, miss?"

 

"yah! it's great! can I aske u sompting?"

 

"Anything, miss." Matt stood at attention, waiting patiently.

 

"whAT IS UR FAMILY LIKE?"

 

Matt winced a bit. "I...don't really know..."

 

"oh...I c..."

 

"I grew up on the ship working for the captain so i guess the crew is sorta like my family. I'm pretty sure my parents died at sea, that's where the captain found me. Alone on a life boat. I don't remember it though."

 

"oh...can I ask u sumpting else"

 

Matt nodded. Scrubbing the floor absentmindedly.

 

"would u like to come live with me and my dad?"

 

Matt triped over his feet, landing on the deck, looking up at her. His jaw was working up and down as he couldn't find words. All he managed was, "huh?"

 

"would u like to come live with us? you're my best friend and my dad has alreay tooken a liking to u..."

 

Matt was speachless. His thoughts were everywhere.
'A home...
A family...
5 meals a day...
A bedroom...
A bed...'

Then his thoughts changed a little. Going from bright to bleak in seconds.
'No captain...
No ocean...
No salty breeze...
No crew...
Land...'

"I'll...have to think about it I mean...I grew up here."

 

Clarisse Dubois finished sending emails and relaxed back. She had sent her first progress reports and completed her other business. At least she could now relax a bit. She left her quarters and went to the main dining hall. The room was full of people and she was led to the first class tables and seated. A menu was presented to her by a polite waiter, who bowed and poured the wine. She thought that things were definitely looking up.

ooc: Sorry I'm late, I've been really ill all day and I'm not sure how long I can stay on. I will have to leave early probably.

Matt's jaw dropped. "It's...amazing, miss...but...I don't think i'd feel right on land with all that earth under me. And without the crew..."

 

"u could come and viset them whenever u want...u could take 1 of r privet jets...we have a waterfall on r property 2...my mom picked out the aria. hears a pic of the water fall"

Matt sighed, knowing she wasn't gonna take no for an answer. "I'll think about it okay?" He felt a chill blow from the west and looked towards the sky. The clouds were getting closer.
