    DO YOU AGREE?

Some of friends and I put this together.

Wouldn't it be nice if the world threw all of these thoughts out a window? The sad truth is that people will probably never grow to accept others for who they all. Preconceived notions will always be there, clouding judgement and causing problems. What do you plan to do to put a stop to it?

I'll associate with these targeted people and be proud of my acquaintance with them. Truth be told I doubt we do much more and convince any more people than ourselves. But that's a start.

Quote by Sydney Smith. True words in my opinion.

That is a good quote. It speaks many words by saying few. Sydney Smith must be very wise.

    Wow this is good.

Yeah I do suppose it'd be nice to get rid of associations just because people are different, but you are right, the fact of the matter is that it is human nature and some people probably won't stop connecting stereotypes to those types of people. I guess it's just best to get to know people before you judge.

I find that hard to believe. Even if you don't think you do, chances are that you probably do. Just like Kites said, it's human nature.

    Fixed it. ^^

Anyway... It is true that the best of us sometimes stereotype. I'll admit to it. I went to an incredibly dangerous school for my first year of high school - death and sex around every corner - then I moved here to Utah. BIG CHANGE. I'm trying very hard to put it out of my mind, but there are times that I cringe away when I see a group of hispanics coming to the local park. I feel horrible about it, but the schools I grew up in implanted that stereotype in my brain.

    lol This is true.

Seriously though. I guess stereotypes come from what the media depicts us to be. We're all different individuals. Doesn't matter the race, skin color, the way we dress, or gender. We're all different and shouldn't have to conform to stereotypes.

    Basically.

And get to know the people instead of already thinking of what they are about just because of stereotypes.

    That's what you call prejudice.

I gotta agree with VideoGameNerd246; we ARE all different. People are always confused by me because one day I'll be wearing all black and the next I'll be in jeans and a white T-shirt with a bunny on it. I've been stereotyped as the attention-seeking-side-switcher. But that doesn't matter to me. I know that what you wear can reflect a lot about you, but I don't think we should judge by clothes either.

and hate how people hate blacks just for bein black
who cares wat color they are

    yeah ur right
some times a see people with a red bandana and think that they are bloods and change my mind and think that they are just people with a red bandana

I laugh so hard at the people who get angry at stereotypes. We wouldn't have them if they weren't true. Now they aren't true about all people but that doesn't mean you have to cry about it. If you don't represent that stereotype you're accused of then shrug it off and go on with your life because they're just words and you shouldn't be bothered by them. Hell I play around with them sometimes. When I was on the swim team my friends would make jokes like "He's Spanish of course he's going to beat us" and I'd play along and say "Well swim to America and you'll be as fast as me." Everybody laughs and nobody gets offended or pissed off. Stereotypes are never going to go away so you might as well ignore them or have some fun with them.

uh, I can't say anything about the slut part but you sure as hell are irresponsible if you're a teenage mom.

AHHH Stereotypes... one of the small things we do that makes us hate each other.

It's kind of sad seeing it here in Australia.. the land of the multicultural. People just think that if terrorists attack.. it has to be the entire muslim race when I see them a lot here, and they just hang out and go shopping here like we do. If someone is smart.. they have to be asian.. etc.

I've been called a bitch because I'm english from a girl I didn't know was African until she told me.. and to tell you the truth, I didn't know much of what the English did until that day, all I knew about us was that we shipped convicts here... turns out we did a lot of mean shit back in the day..but apparently I'm just like them.

It's people like that who make me proud of who I am, because I know I'm not going to go around and diss everyone I see about who they are.

What if the girl was raped and decided to go through with the pregnancy?

Because they're only words. I'm mature enough to not care about words. Now if the person was legitimately insulting me of course I would get pissed at them, but tons of people are just joking around. People aren't as racist anymore these days and racism is now an accepted form of comedy.

Learn the difference between being soft and not. Being soft would be taking shit from some people who fuck with you because they really do hate your race.

I really hate this response. Of course that would be different. It's obvious I'm talking about girls having sex on their own free will.
Still an irresponsible person. Teenagers shouldn't be having sex since they don't have the financial ability and maturity to support a child.

I agree, I wouldn't take crap from anyone who was just up front about insulting me or anyone else. But there is a legitimate difference between joking and insulting. I can understand that people can simply get offended by comments people make and immediately point to it as racism, but people can't keep using it as an excuse if it is not and it was in turn a joke.
