Just finished episode 5, and I'm liking it so far. I've heard some people complaining about it, but we'll see how it turns out
first season overall pretty dull but picks up late in the season second season seems like every other episode is dull as well its not a bad show, but id say of the shows im watching its the one im least excited to watch each week (excluding g-reco).
I stopped watching it around episode 5. I have the rest in store and intend to watch them sooner or later, but to be honest I was a bit disappointed. Whedon shows used to hook me rather quickly. I couldn' t tell if that one was a slow starter, just not as good as the others, or if I was getting too old for that stuff.
It is a little dull, but if nothing else, I always enjoy seeing what happen in the background of big moments like Avengers and Iron Man and all that. So instead of just focusing on Stark, Captain America, and all those other guys, we can see what happens to the normal people
the problem is that the normal people aren't interesting enough for the bulk of the show, and unless it's making blatant name drops, it rarely feels like a coherent universe. the latter part of the first season does a much better job at making the show just as interesting as the films and connecting the two
The show's self-contained arc with CENTIPEDE really picks up around the middle of the season, then about three-quarters of the way in is when it gets really good, both with the CENTIPEDE thing and with the movie connection, which I will not mention because spoilers. Season 2's been knocking it out of the park so far, with natural, non-forced allusions to the movies, its own (better) self-contained arcs, character development, and even with laying the groundwork for future movies, believe it or not. Yeah, it's not a perfect series and it takes a while to really get things rolling, but it's definitely worth it.
I just started episode 13, and only 4 minutes in I keep repeating a certain line because the guy who plays Fitz threw me off with his accent for a sec, so I needed to check where he was from. I can kinda see why some people call it dull, but I found Once Upon A Time more dull than this show
If you survive the first half of the season one you're good to go. Those episodes' plot and the cast are lame, but Shield survives well while parasitizing from Winter Soldier plot as you might imagine if you already saw the movie. In the second season they got more money for special effects and better actors, unfortunately there are those silly ones from previous season (the scientist, Coulson and Skye) that are the worst thing about the series, but the new people (villains and heroes) are great making the series overall okay, the best part though is the expanded universe so it is always a plus to be aware of what happens in the show for the movies.
