Well I was a trained food microbiology lab tech for a while so I know a little bit about this subject. Seriously though, good basic hygiene is the best thing you can follow to protect yourself.

Well, I am glad that you gave me the advice..

I am quite scarred though.. I have an open wound on my stomch close to my waist, and it has been seen in Gym class when I have to change, and one person thought it was staff, but it was a tree burn where I fell out of a tree a few days ago (don't ask. I was bored lol)

    Jussssst to clarify.
Staph is a bacteria. I saw somone refer to it as a virus. There is much debate as to whether or not viruses are alive. But hey who said that things w/o DNA aren't alive!? I'm on the fence about this one...

    /end analness.

    Staph is hella scary D:

It came to the Stafford campus of my school in VA. It's caused by people who don't wash their hands I think...

    Staphylococci organisms are bacteria.

Viruses are not classed as technically alive as they require a host cell to replicate in. They are just genetic material covered by a specific protein coat. You can argue that a modern car is equally alive as it shows the same number of processes that sustain life as a virus.
To be classed as technically alive something has to independently fulfill seven criteria:
    Respiration
    Sensitivity
    Reproduction
    Growth
    Movement
    Excretion
    Nutrition.

Neither cars nor viruses can manage growth and reproduction alone!

    You are very right there!

This may have already been said but:

Staphylococcus is a bacteria that comes in clusters. There are different types ranging from Staphylococcus epidermis to Staphylococcus aureus, and some can be harmless while some can be pretty deadly if left untreated. I know, it sounds random and ranging, but the majority are used as normal bacterial flora.

That is true of many bacteria such as Listeria and Salmonella. Not every strain of Staphylococcus is deadly or even harmful. The unfortunate thing is MRSA is a particularly nasty strain and people tent to associate the name Staphylococcus with this. Staphylococcus contains strains that are naturally present on your skin and those aiding the formation of spots.
