============== Standing in the Rain ============== Chapter 1 - Someone Help! Dana stood at the corner of her street waiting for her school bus like all the other kids in the 7th grade. She never really liked school; in fact she probably wouldn't go school if she didn't have her best friends Carla and Matt. They always agreed on the same things and thought the same subjects in school were boring. Soon the bus came to the street corner and everyone loaded aboard. Dana's friends were three stops down the road so she would always be lonely for that amount of time. Especially when she saw all the other kids talking with each other. Every school day she would think to herself, "Why can't they be closer." The next thing she new they had already reached the 3rd stop, and Carla and Matt were already walking on. "Hey guys!" Dana said overjoyed But the only one who responded was Carla. Matt sat in the front of the bus today he seemed a little more depressed looking than normal. "Hey Dana, what's new?" Carla asked. "What's wrong with Matt? He looks depressed." "I don't know. I tried talking to him but he seemed to tune me out." "Maybe he got in trouble with a teacher again and he has to serve detention." "I don't know maybe he'll be okay after lunch. He probably didn't have breakfast." Dana and Carla waited until lunch for Matt to show the least bit of joy, but it never came. All anyone could see on his face was a blank stare which he used for everything. Even looking at the teachers. Carla wasn't that worried, she figured that he woke up on the wrong side of the bed type thing. Dana thought it was much more than that, but she just couldn't put her finger on what was wrong. 8th Period seemed like the longest period of the day. Dana wasn't paying attention at all to her Science teacher. She was to busy trying to figure out what's wrong with Matt. Carla was focused on the lesson so she didn't have to check everywhere for the homework assignment later on that night. Could it be that someone close to him left him? She thought. But, what if it's something worse? *RING RING* The bell had rang and it was finally time to go home. The bus just pulled in as Dana walked out the school doors. "Bye Dana!" Carla shouted. "Aren't you riding the bus home?" Dana asked. "I have to go to my piano recital." "Okay then. Bye." Dana had to ride the bus home alone with the usual kids who rode on the bus and Matt. She wanted to find out why Matt was so depressed today. Suddenly she had a brilliant idea; she would get off at Matt's stop and secretly follow him home. After all her parents wouldn't be home until eight so maybe she could find at least a hint of what kept Matt down today. Dana sat as far away from Matt as possible so Matt wouldn't suspect anything. The bus started to move away from the school when rain clouds started to pull in. They weren't big clouds, but they looked like they had enough water to give a good drenching. Before Dana knew it the bus pulled into Matt's stop. Totally concentrated on her mission she followed Matt out of the bus being careful to make sure he didn't see her. Soon she reached Matt's house. All of his curtains were open, and Dana could see straight through the house. Matt wasn't there. She circled the house wondering and worrying where Matt was. She didn't even care if she was seen anymore. The moment it started to pour rain Dana saw Matt on the roof of his house. As the rain fell Dana thought to her self What is he gonna do up there? Suddenly it hit her. He's going to jump! Dana immediately started calling Matt's name at the top of her lungs, but it was as if the rain drowned out her screams. His roof wasn't very high up but for some reason he wasn't reacting to Dana or her frantic waving and shouting. As he jumped a tear drop fell from Dana's eye. She had no idea what would happen to Matt or why he jumped. It seemed like hours before Matt hit the ground. He didn't move at all. He was unconscious. Dana could barely stand thinking about what might happen to him. She raced to Matt's body. As she screamed, "Someone Help! Matt's dying!" Chapter 2 - But why did you jump? The next day Dana woke up in horror. At first she thought it was a nightmare, but she couldn't forget the 3 hours she spent in the hospital waiting for news on Matt. The doctor said he was in critical condition. Seeing him hooked up to different machines made her feel even more nervous. He was still unconscious. Now she had to face school. She couldn't tell anyone about her situation or else she could be mocked for the rest of school for suposive stalking, and she doesn't want to go through that. She's already a nobody. She couldn't not go to school. So she got up and did all of her hygene routines and left for the bus stop without breakfast. She normally eats breakfast, but she was slower than normal today and she didn't want to be late for school so she didn't eat breakfast. The bus got there early today. Dana decided that she would have to act as normal as possible so no one would suspect anything. Dana boarded the bus trying to pretend it was a normal day. That day; she didn't think about being lonely or anything thing like that. She could only think about Matt. Carla jumped on the bus. She seemed hyper today. Normally at her piano recitals there were lots of sugary snacks. "Hey Dana, do you have any candy? Candy!" Carla said spedily. "No, I don't and you shouldn't have anymore." Dana said in discust. "You don't have to be so sour about it. Oh that reminds me;I have sour gummy cubs in my bookbag. Yum!" Dana was irritated all day except for P.E. P.E. just reminded her of what happened to Matt. "Okay ladies, run three laps around the soccer field. GO!"said Mrs. Patrese. Dana ran as fast as she could to look normal. Carla ran like there was no tomorrow. Literally. Suddenly Carla fell down. Dana thought she tripped over a rock, but 1 minute passed and she didn't get up. A whole rally of girls crowded around Carla. Mrs. Patrese figured she just needed a night of rest because of all the sugar se ate. Dana tried to shake off her feelings but they kept playing in her head like one of those old broken records. In 8th period Dana was miserable. She wanted to say she had a headache and leave school, but somehow she couldn't "Dana!"said Mrs. Hornet the science teacher,"your the only one who hasn't turned in your homework. Did you even do your homework?" Dana spent her homework time in the hospital. Mrs. Hornet was not the type to let go either. "N-no." Dana said nervously. "Well then you have to do it Saturday in detention." Detention. On a Saturday. The worst thing that anyone could have. *RING RING* The bell rang and it was time to go home. Dana got off at her regular stop today. When Dana got home she got on the computer. She saw Matt on AIM! She was overjoyed. She quickly typed in,"Hi Matt!" "Hey Dana. I know what your gonna ask so I'm gonna answer it right now. I'm doing fine and my parents brought me my laptop." "I just have two more questions. The doctor said you were in critical condition. How did you heal so quickly?" "I woke up after they checked me out. hey said all I had was a broken leg, and that it wold heal in a couple weeks." "That's great but why did you jump anyway?" "I was seriously depressed. My parents said we were gonna move to another state and they were going to arange a girlfriend for me that I would eventually marry." "But your only in the 7th grade!" "I know, my parents have always been like that. Also if you didn't call for help than I not sure if I would have made it." "How did you know it was me?" "The doctor said it was you." "When will you be back in school?" "Tomorrow. Does anyone now what happened to me." "No, I kept it to myself." "Thanks Dana." "Your welcome see yu tomorrow." "Okay." Chapter 3 - Standing in the Rain The next day at school Dana was at her locker getting her books for 1st period when she heard the news. "Hey Dana, did you here the news?" Carla asked "What news." Dana wondered "That you and Matt are in love." "What!? Where did you hear that?" "Oh, it's all around school even the 6th nd 8th graders know about it." Oh great. The whole school thinks me and Matt are in love, but are we really. I mean I hang with him a lot and actually I think I actually might like him.I would'nt actually follow and save Matt if they don't love him So Dana might of actually like Matt? Wow! This love might have started in kindergarden and grown even larger after Matt was in the hospital. In kindergarden, there were some older kids who were pushed back to kindergarden. They were bullies. They bullied and pushed around little kids especially Dana. Carla tried to stop them but she was pushed away into the side of the building. Ouch! Then finally Matt stepped in with his water gun he brought to school, and he scared the bullies away. What wimps! Ever since then she's liked Matt, but she never figured out how much she really liked Matt until now. Dana saw Matt in the hallway to her 1st period class. She thought of avoiding him, but then he called out to her. "Hey Dana, wait up!" Matt shouted. "Hi Matt, what's up?" Dana asked nervously. "Listen I know this is sudden, but.... do you....actually.No never mind. It's a stupid question." "No, tell me I wanna know!" "Well, do you.... like... me?" Dana was speechless. She didn't know what to say. It felt like hours before she would answer. "Well, do you? If you don't it's ok-" "I do!" "What?" "I do like you Matt. I know your already aranged to someone else but I still love you." They both looked a each other. It was the happiest thing to happen ever since Dana heard from Matt. "About the things I told you last night. I am going to mave tomorrow." Matt said soberly trying to look away from Dana *RING RING* The bell rang, and it was time to get to class. Matt ran away as fast as he could. Dana stood in the hallway; shocked. An unexplainable expression across her face. The rest of the day flew by for some reason. When Dana got home she ran into her bedroom, jumped on her bed, and cried. The day Matt moved it was pouring cats and dogs. Even harder than it did when Matt jumped. Dana got dressed. It was Saturday, but her detention was lifted when Mrs.Hornet heard about what Dana did for Matt. Dana. Standing in the rain fell on her knees and cried, "Goodbye, Matt." Hope you liked my story! It's not fiction. This really happened! My sisters friend said on AIM that he would jump off his roof and he did! My sister thought it was her fault but it wasn't. And it happened in the 7th grade. So I wrote a story on it.
This really happend? Whoa. It was very good. The ending was sad and a bit rushed, I think. All matt did was say, "I'm moving," and then he ran down the hall way, not even saying goodbye. Overall, it was pretty good. :D :D :D
Yeah the ending was rushed a lot. But that's basically how it happened in real life. My sisters friend said he was moving and then he ran down the hallway and he wasn't seen by my sister again. And he did move the next day. But honestly the guy was a wacko but my sister liked him. Weird 0_0
