You are a mod in the Anything else section and a member PM's you to alert you that several members have been causin' a bit of a ruckus in the ID section. They are heavily flamin' each other, swearin' etc for their beliefs, and makin' personal attacks at each other. Others have began to join in and take sides and the thread has filled with more than a dozen pages of flamin'. You're the only staff member on for the time bein'.

What do you do in this situation to calm thin's down? And what punishment should be given?

Explain in great detail. Don't miss anythin' out. Points will be deducted if you forget to mention certain things that may occur.

I would probably try and sort things out by seeing what caused the rucus, going a few threads back and looking at the posts, then when i see who caused i would tell them i caught them, and i would go all ninja style on them 8D

I'd probably inform them and probably give them a warning for flamming and swearing. If they would fight, I'd suggest them go somewhere else, and let KHV run in peace <3

And if i see it again, I'll probably tell them one more time and they'll get banned, (2nd warning.) =P

and IF I am contacted by a member being flamed,I'd get the flamers name and temp-ban him for 2-5 days at the max,they had their warnings and the ban time might calm them down.

IF not and the user comes back after being Temp-banned and begins flaming me,the members,and the entire site in general for being banned,and there is no possible way to stop him,I'd...have to ban the guy =(

Basically, make myself intimidating, by using big words (Trust me).

If anyone continues on with the flaming, I would report at least one of the posts, hoping another Mod(Of the ID section)/S. Mod/Admin arrives.

Until then, I would try to calm them down by saying things like:
"Please guys, cant we just work it out, nobody's beliefs are wrong, don't worry about it so much"

Seriously now, I would first read said thread to get a handle on the situation since the member could just be making up nonsense. Since I couldn't lock the thread myself, I would PM the staff responsible for the ID section and a few Admins to make sure. In the thread itself, I would make a post reminding the members of the rules of the ID section, mean no flaming etc. In that post I would also inform them that I have notified other members of the staff that could do something about the situation and that they might receive warnings for their behavior.

Hopefully I would never have to do such a thing but I am prepared if something like this should happen. I don't take Intel. Discussion lightly. :3

Firstly seeing as though you have zero power in said section there is not much you can do on your own. Just short of scolding every single person who flamed up the section, next you look through and see who the major flamers in the section are take names and basically wait for some one else to kick some ass seeing as you are unable to. Also pronounce in the thread that if anyone else posts to the topic, and has the slightest bit of flaming or action/hint of flaming that they are too be given warning depending on the severity. And after such, wait for a the secmod/S.mod/admin to come on line and report right away, or find other ways to get a hold of them if possible.

ID means intelligent discussion. <:3

1.) Reply to the member who sent you the thread/threads saying thanks.
2.) Go to the thread. Identify which members are causing the most problems.
3.) If it is not severe enough to give a warning, PM the members involved greatly informing them that what they are doing is against the rules, and if they continue, they will receive warnings.
4.) If it is severe enough, warn 'em. Refer to rules to see if their actions deserved a warning.
5.) Send warned members a message telling them they got an infraction, like you're s'posed to, quoting the posts, and informing them why it was unacceptable.
6.) By now the main flamers should have stopped. A few band-wagon hoppers may be still posting in the thread. Make a post there reminding them that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and flaming each other is, along with being against the rules, not going to solve anything. Basically, remind them to play nice.
7.) If they do not stop and continue to flame after being warned and PMed about it, PM them again, informing them that what they are now doing is a bannable offense and if they don't want to be banned, they need to stop now.
8.) If they continue, it is out of your power. You have done all you could as a moderator out of the section. Don't PM them massively. They already know they're breaking the rules and have already received a warning. Inform higher-ups through PM. They should be online some time to ban and close if need be.
9.) If there are any members in the thread who were attempting to STOP THE MADNESS, rep them and/or PM them telling them what they did was a good thing.

Please note that much of this relies on IF the person decides to continue. If they don't, obviously, I wouldn't warn them, or tell them they're about to be banned.
