Spider-man 4 is no more. Reboot instead

John Malkovich was set to play the Vulture.
Anne Hathaway was supposedly approached for a starring role (My guess is Black Cat)
Rumors of the Lizard, Carnage, Sinister Six, even a 3D film have been flying around.
A release for 2011 was acknowledged.
Well, it's canceled.

Instead they're going to make a reboot with new directors, cast, everything.
Peter Parker will be back in High School (I like this) and will not be Tobey who has been talking about starting filming for Spider-man 4 soon. Guess he was wrong.


Reboot's set to release 2012.

So, instead of making the 4th they scrapped it and a new cast is remaking Spider-man 1? Um, okay.

 

It's not a remake of the first. It's a completely new story kinda like an alternate version.

 

Oh, hm. Could be good or bad. We'll see.

 

Yep, I'm interested to see how this goes. I like bringing him back to High School, but the wait's going to kill me.
Disney has been wondering if there's money in less known superheroes like Ant-man so I'm hoping Marvel doesn't get Disneyfied like we feared.
Something like the Ultimate Comics would be more appealing, in my opinion, but I don't read the comics so I wouldn't for sure.

 

Oh god please go to the Ultimates comics I love that series.

Plus, can we say Zac Effron as Spiderman? I'd pay $6 to see him in some tights.

 

If they make Zac Efron as Spider-Man, then I won't even go anywhere near this movie... unless he gets great impressions. Best to stick to Jake Gyllenhaal. Also hopefully they use Gwen Stacey instead of MJ.

 

As the first girlfriend, Gwen would be okay, but at the same time, she doesn't have much character to her.

 

That's why she probably gets killed, I say keep the Green Goblin as well for the storyline.

 

Idk, if we bring the Green Goblin back as well as introduce Gwen in the 4th movie, it's too much of a dead giveaway to what's going to happen. I'm not saying they should change it like they did in the first one, but making it like that in the 4th...naw, they should wait a bit.

At least they scrapped Tobey. I never really liked his acting.

What will they call this movie then? It can't be called Spider-Man 4 since it would make it look like a sequel and it can't be called Spider-Man because it would be confused with other version.

 

They'll come up with something, like Batman Begins.

Spiderman is supposed to look dorky, not a buff supermodel.

I'd really like it if they went off the Carnage storyline in the Ultimates comic. Of course that's something you'd want to save for a sequel. Using the Venom comic would be a perfect way to start out the reboot and would also give Venom the screen time he deserves.

 

...Okay. I'll take that. This could be good.

Please don't screw up Venom again. I want my wise-cracking muscle-bound schizophrenic back. ;_;

 

I'm glad they've done this, I hope they give Spider-Man his sense of humour back.

 

Well he seems like he would be a good Peter Parker to me unless you can think of someone else.

 

I thought the movie trilogy was failing since number 2. And 3 was utterly... crazy...
A reboot is for the best. Any of the little known villians and heroes would be a great addition to the reboot.
I wouldn't mind seeing Chameleon or Kraven.

I love the Ultimate Comics Spider-Man books, so I'm kinda looking forward to this. Really hoping the can touch some of the ultimatised villain's they haven't used yet. Especially Electro. Not too keen to see the Goblins again since that's what the last movies were about, even though I love the Ultimate Goblins. Lizard is someone they really have to do, though.
