so at the end of kh2 after reading the letter to him from mickey, he tells riku and kairi he has to go "help them cuz he is who he is because of them" and she gives him her goodluck charm i.e. the oathkeeper. SO i think in kingdom hearts 3 soras basic keyblade you start off with in the beginning of the game should be the oathkeeper. it fits more with him i think. i would like your feedback and opinion to see what you think

Nice idea, but I doubt it. It will and always be Kingdom Key. Besides I think there is more to the weapon than Nomura leads on.

If we consider the Keyblade as something that belongs to Sora, and that it reflects that which is most important to him, I agree that its default form should be the Oathkeeper. But I hesitate to say that the Keyblade belongs to anyone or even anything--aside from maybe the applicable realm (Sora's Kingdom Key is of the Realm of Light, is it not?). It's a power that is passed from person to person. I would argue that the wielder belongs to the Keyblade, not the other way around.

That is an interesting way to think about it. It's strange. Every wielder connected to Sora has a Kingdom Key, but Terra, Ven, and Aqua had different weapons of their own. It makes me wonder if Eraqus and Xehanort had weapons before the ones we see them with.

I don't think that is where you were going with it, but it was just a thought that hit me.

I think Sora will always have the Kingdom Key as his default simply because it looks the most like a key and because it has just always been that way. Though, I do like Misty's theory of the wielder belonging to the Keyblade.

  6. also* since the meaning of the kingdom key is something to the effect of "connecting hearts of many to him' hence how he connected to so many people and the keyblade choose you, only its shape changes to fit the users ability at the beginning hence the simple ability and shapes of early keyblades Terra aqua and ven didn't know sora and are also in there own right there own person thus that is why they didn't have the kingdom key king mickey found its alternate version, kingdom key D like how sora has so many keychains also there is almost always a dark and a light version of a keyblade so that's that roxas/xion well roxas was soras nobody and thus had the kingdom key and since xion had to "copy" the keyblade to make another key she obtained the kingdom key as well

The keyblade chooses the wizard, Harr- I mean Sora...
But yeah I think Sora's default has and always will be the Kingdom key. Don't get me wrong I love the oathkeeper, but in my mind to change your keyblade default would be to change a very fundamental part of yourself. I think the kingdom key is kinda an embodiment of Sora, and if he changed who he was so drastically as to change the nature of his keyblade, he might not even be fit to wield it any more.

Then again, I may just be reading waay too much into this.

thats true, his keyblade is supposed to the the key of the realm of light and mickeys is the realm of darkness i think and rikus is supposed to be for the realm of in between. it ay not be the basic but there is a reason that the oathkeeper is inn every kh game that soras in. BUT i read on the kh wiki that nomura stated himself that sora DOES have the ability to dual weild in his basic form considering him and roxas has the same abilities and roxas got his dual wielding from soras blade and vens. SO, if soras dual wieldining ever awakens and he DOES duel wield. what 2 keyblades do you think he will weild? 2 kingdom keys or will they keep with the trend and have it be the oathkeeper and oblivion?

  9. well it all depends on ONE thing: the mob of gamers and since oathkeeper and oblivion are seemingly signatures of roxas it might start a riot if sora uses them at least at first soon the crazed roxas fans would quit though seeing roxas is half of sora the rage would end in a large happiness but i dont think its a good idea just to start out with oath and oblivion so i would say at first 2 kk's and then later the oathkeeper and oblivion

I think it wont happen. why? because lets have kh2 for example he had kairi's good luck charm with him but it wasn't till pretty much half way through the story/adventure when he actually got oathkeeper.

Personally, I find the choice of weapon in Kingdom Hearts to be pointless.
If you've noticed, throughout every game, the mystery of the keblade is never mentioned or explained aside from the one given in the first game. Nothing explaining why Terra, Ventus and Aqua have one, not even Mickey, Kairi and Riku have an explanation.
The only real mention about the purpose of the keyblade was in the first game, explaining the purpose of the keyblade and why only Sora can wield it. This explanation has been carried out through every game: it can unlock any door and shut gates to stop heartless from invading the other worlds.
The explanation was expanded in Birth by Sleep, that being a keyblade wielder involves you fixing the balance of light and darkness, but even this is vague and gives us a reason why the protagonists are constantly fighting monsters.
It's appearance doesn't matter and doesn't effect it's abilities, all it really is is just a way to give an RPG style of gameplay by changing your weapon to give it better stats. The only exception to this rule is the keyblade that unlocks peoples hearts, but even this is barely give any description aside from what I just mentioned.
I'm probably going too in-depth with this, but in short, the appearance doesn't matter and the fact that a lot of other people have keyblades creates a plot hole that might be filled sometime in future games.

Mickey is the chosen wielder of the Keyblade from the Realm of Darkness. Why exactly he was chosen by it I don't believe was ever stated, but he was an apprentice to Yen Sid before that. Terra, Aqua, and Ventus were all also apprenticed, though Aqua is the only 'Keyblade Master' of the three--she is the only one who passed the Mark of Mastery exam. So it appears you can become a Keyblade wielder through apprenticeship. But the whole thing still is a bit foggy.

I agree though, the Keyblade's physical's appearance doesn't matter as much as the concept of the Keyblade as a whole.

Expanding...The idea of Balance is best exemplified by Masters Xehanort and Erauqs. MX embodying darkness and ME embodying Light. We also know that the ability to wield the keyblade can be passed down through that ceremony Terra did with Riku. I believe it was stated somewhere that the keyblade itself chose to go to Sora when Riku went into the darkness. Roxas was able to Dual-wield because, he was Sora's Nobody and because, (My theory,) he had Ventus's heart. (Sora Kept his and thats why he was able to stay in control as a heartless. Same with Seeker Ansem, who likely had Terra's heart.) Sora was able to Dual-Wield after Roxas joined back up with him because he regain Ventu's heart after it had awakened in Roxas. The appearance changes because of where you get the keychains from.

To answer the question of the topic, despite Sora having the charm from Kairi, he'll start with the Kingdom Key. We know that because he has it in DDD which is right After KH2. I'm sure though that he'll get it at some point again.
NOTE!!!! (More evidence to back up my theory...
The only 2 Nobodies to not have memories from their somebodies are Roxas and Xemnas. Originally they were the bodies of Sora and Terra. When a heart is taken from a body via a Keyblade, a Humanoid Nodbody appears, but the heart is the one that the body was born with. In Sora and Terra's cases though, they had 2 hearts inside their bodies and since memories are connected to the heart the memories of their lifes went with the Heartless. Now this is where it gets a lil fuzzy. Ven's heart was welcomed into Sora willingly. This was obviously not the case with Terra and he and Xehanort had it out inside his heart, likely leaving Terra's, as well as MX's heart, fragile. What Terra didn't know was that the heart he'd be releasing was his own, BUT due to all of the fighting and the damage inside him, his heart left him and his memories were scattered. That and I believe a fragment of MX went with him and together they knew that, somehow, Kingdom Hearts had the answers and that darkness was the way to get there. When Sora took his heart, it was a willing act and he knew what he was doing. At the time he had a third heart inside him, an active and alive one, Kairi's. I believe she would've become a heartless as well if not for her body and the heart being intact. Sora did become a heartless, as we all know, although not for very long. The connection between him and Kairi during that time as well as her and Aqua in BBS probably allowed her the ability to wield the keyblade.
Anyways those are my thoughts, lemme know what you think!

I doubt his starting keyblade will ever be different. I mean, aside from BBS, the default keyblade you start with has always been the kingdom key. Seems to be one of the more easily recognised keyblades, seems to be popular, and seems to be almost a tradition now, so i can't see any reason for changing it.

Redundant at this point but by cannon Sora's keyblade is Kingdom Key. It being anything else isn't even considered in the mangas as far as I can recall. And in the games has always been the opening one, a tradition I don't picture them breaking.

I imagine that Oblivion and Oathkeeper will behave in a similar way that they did in KH2. He will technically have them from the start but the game mechanic to equip them won't come until later. Which I have to say I like much better than the alternative of nerfing both keyblades as to not break the beginning of the game. Or I guess there is the third option of "training" your keyblades; which considering the heroes of BBS all had their primary keyblades evolve so to speak, it isn't entirely out of the question.

It's a interesting thought, but I doubt it too.

Sora's first Keyblade will always be Kingdom Key. And the Good Luck Charm will always be with him. The best I can think about it as an equipment is as an accessory in the beginning of the game, but I'm pretty sure that after one scene with Naminé you will have the Oathkeeper.

i just replayed terra in bbs and i noticed that in terras final cutscene mx says to him something to the effect of you are not alone eraqes is with you. so because of that ive seen people say he has access to 3, but im not so sure it works that way anyway. but kairi has one because of when she came in contact with aqua in the radiant garden she touched aquas keyblade which involuntarily began the successor ceramony. aqua wanted to choose sora but didnt cuz terra already chose rikuand she didnt want them to fight like her and terra did....although that didnt really work out to wellnlol

The Line went something along the lines that Erauqs had touched his heart somehow. Now in how he died, by keyblade that is, his heart might've moved into Terra's heart, although it would've been a passive heart that like Sora with Kairi's, Terra wouldn't even know. Xehanort remains the only one to extract his own intact heart and move into another body. There has never been another case of two intact and living hearts inside one body, so far as we know.

Oathkeeper is a nice keyblade, its been my favorite since the first game on top of Oblivion. I would love to start a KH game with it. Unfortunately Sora will always start with Kingdom Key :/
