Do you think that Sora acts very childish in KH (KH1,KH: CoM, KH2)? I personally think that he may act childish only because the game's part of Disney, so it makes it more attractive to children. If he was more serious, then the game wouldn't appeal to small kids much, as only its storyline is very difficult for them to understand.
For some others, who mostly are older people, might not like Sora for his personality. But that's what I want to discuss mostly, and even why you think Sora is the way he is.

(Btw I created this topic so we don't go off-topic in the "is kairi over-sexed in KH2?" thread)

Well Yes....Sora is rather childish in the games.

And well it is a disney game as well...so I suppose that's got something to do with it.

And well You kinda need Sora's childishness....Cuz Riku and almost everone else who isn't a disney character (Besides Kairi) are rather serious.......I think it fits.

He's not too childish in Chain of Memories. I would really like him as a main character if he was like that throughout the Kingdom Hearts series. Kids wouldn't feel alienated by him or anything. In fact, they would probably like him better. And yes, it is probably because of Disney that Square had to soften him and make him really stupid and immature. It's kind of funny in Chain of Memories. He's so much more serious, Donald and Goofy just don't understand him at all. Like: "Sora, you're losing us! You're acting like... a Final Fantasy character!".

About the last thing you said... it may not fit, I would even say leaning to the "happy" side...
All the serious characters are not main characters, Sora and mainly the gang is the main characters. They are always in the scene, making the happy side lean towards them.

I think he is...naive. Some what childish - but he diffinately grew up.

    I mean...I'm 18

and I act like sora's personality ((maybe its cuz I'm a girl...but anyways)) I act like I'm 4!! =\ and maybe Disney HAD an influence on it - but I think SOra, Riku, and Kairi balance each other out a lot.

plus I heart Sora the way he is =]

I like how he acts, fits the game. Also, he grows up on an island, sort of sheltered and naive and isolated. That might be why his character is so childish and immature.

That's true; Riku is the serioous one, Kairi is the "normal/balanced" one, and Sora the "happy" one.

  11. The only reason Sora acted different in COM, is because he was losing his real memories, and even in the beginning fof the game, it was said that the further he goes into Castle Oblivion, the further he loses himself.

And "Kairi" was involved. Enough said.

Anyway, this doesn't even matter if you think that Sora doesn't show any other emotions other than happiness. In KH1 itself, we saw him serious, lose hope, sad, and determined. The only thing was that he was positive and believed in the power of people's hearts, including his.

In KHII, he was way more serious, a bit more harsher (the way her treated some villains) albeit a bit laid-back. There were more "emoish" Sora scenes that I can name off the top of my head. Once, in the Gummi Ship, where he blames himself for Riku and Kairi's disappearance when he misunderstood Goofy. The part where he, again, lost hope and Will when he knew he couldn't use the keyblade and Maleficent saved him, and his comrades. Where he got on his knees and begged Saix to see Kairi, when he slumped down into the ground and beat his fist into it, and all the times he failed to find Riku or Kairi.

    Want more?

Sora, of course, has to have his happy, childish moments, or else he wouldn't be Sora.

And in all honesty, I prefer him that way.

I believe Sora had a normal personalty in KH1. a mix of serious and childless.

In COM he act way more childish. I know he got mad, confused, and less happy all the time but he so rude, selfish, and doesn't think anything through. To me that's immature.

In kh2 Sora acted more chidish and happy because he was only half a person. His other half Roxas held his more serious and depressed side.

SelfLESS? Yes, he was. As I've said before, if the main character is "naive" and "cheerful" to the point of one suspecting he is mentally damaged, it's not a good thing. In Chain of Memories, it's true that he shuns Donald and Goofy. Maybe because they're idiots. Sora's probably thinking: "Would you please back off of me wiith your constant laughing and hapiness and realize what's happening?! Stop trying to cheer me up for god's sakes! Someone I love is in danger, now you can either shut up and come on or you can sit here f***ing around!". Or something of that nature.

It's Donald and Goofy you're talking about. It's true what you said, but they won't change.

Donald and Goofy will always be like that, they have been the same since their first appearances. Personally i think Sora acts more mature and has better lines in kh2, in kh1 he has worse lines and is abit more mad.
