He took her off his back. "Stay right here, okay sweetie?"

 

"I'll try."
"Ask whatever you want."

 

"Who, or what, are you?"

 

"I can't tell you yet who I am but I'll tell you that I'm an experiment subject just like you."

 

His muscles loosened a bit. "Same experiments?"

 

"No, but still experimented by man."

 

"Why are you bothering my daughter?"

 

"She saw what she was not supposed to see. In order to keep her silent, I threatened her."

 

"And what did she see to have you make such a decision?"

 

"Your daughter saw my life. None of it was pleasent to her eyes, of course."

 

"No doubt mine wouldn't be good to look at either."

 

"It felt like someone was reading your diary and she has some connections to me."
