Kingdom Hearts II Sora alone

Do you think he would've made it through the journey by himself?

If not, how far could he go?

 

Good question. Sora is definitely not a loner like Riku can be. Sora's powers mostly seem to be involved around his amiability and ability to make friends and he draws on that. I think he is bound to make friends wherever he goes and would be pretty depressed if he could not. Also, he is a defender by nature and so the battles he does get in are for other people and not just himself. I also see Riku as a defender too but he is more a critical thinker while Sora follows his heart.

So...I'm not sure Sora would ever be without friends in some manner. If Donald and Goofy weren't there, someone would probably fill the void. However, if he had to go about things alone, it would be serious grow up time for Sora. He couldn't depend on his friends to cover for his nature of following his heart as Donald and Goofy and also Riku and Kairi do. He would have no choice but to also adapt a critical thinking mode and mature very swiftly or be sank for it. I think though he 'could' adapt if given the time to see and hopefully he wouldn't come out too jaded for it. I do know though he'd be in for some serious reality checks because his flaws could really screw him if others aren't there to point out the 'obvious'. His friends do in a way keep him naive which doesn't help him in the long run. So, I'd have to say if given the time he'd need to adjust and he didn't end up in the clutches of evil that used him, he could grow up and be okay but he'd not be happy about it and hold out in hopes he would get friends as it's his nature. However, if he's too naive and does get used by evil forces, he could be a goner, as well as if he faced too much animosity from others who refused his friendly nature.

Since it's a Disney/FF game where people aren't that bad though, it's hard to point out in the actual KH universe, where he'd flunk without friends. It could be as early as ending up in Traverse Town with no supprt or direction and he'd just stagnate there until evil stomped him, or it could end up later than that.

There's a part in KH1, where Riku shoots Sora with a Dark Fiagra. Without Goofy to protect him, he'd die. ;D

That's only one example though, but it is one spot that I can definately say, without his friends, he'd die. :X

 

This is quite true. I suppose my point was that without friends he may not have taken up the whole Keyblade deal and looking for the King etc in the first place and instead forced to survive and really research what is going on so he knows what to do. That's why it makes it difficult for me to say 'where' he'd either mature or die. The story I think would have been different.

Sora would have a small chance of survivng on his own. Notice throughout the games donald and goofy had to restate the trio's goals so that sora could follow them.

Sora on his own:

"TIME TO SAVE KAIRI AND RI-
OOOH A BUTTERFLY!"

in some ways, riku could only barely survive on his own. had mickey not have been there, Riku would have been killed by ansem before he even went up a floor.
I can imagine sora kicking ass on his own. with all of his abilities, that much is certain. But achieving his goals? the realm of light would be doomed.

 

Oh please. Sora doesn't have ADD. He wouldn't leave his friends if they were in danger or at risk. Even you know that.

Sora does need his friends. And I have a quote to prove it.

By said quote, you could tell that it'd be hard for him to take on everything by himself, yes, but he did hold his own while in Traverse Town when he first got the Keyblade. He had no abilities/experience at that point and he gradually gains more as time passes. If he could take care of himself when he had nothing, don't you think he could do it as he gained more abilities?

Although he seems to be the one that's naive, he's following his heart. It's just in his nature. Riku even said he wanted to be like Sora and follow his own heart. He takes on the problems right in front of him, which lead him to finding his friends and helping/saving them.

The most that would've happened is that Sora would have been stuck in Traverse Town. He might've gotten as far as Leon explaining what the keyblade was to him, but after that, he wouldn't have been able to get past it. Not only would he not get any stronger, but he wouldn't have been able to travel to other worlds to help Riku or Kairi.

If by some chance he did leave, it would most like be with Riku, who's working for Maleficent, realize that what he was doing was wrong, confront Riku, but since Riku would've been the only friend he had at the time, Sora would perish.

 

Actually, I dont think Riku would've fought Sora... I mean the only reason y Riku fought him in the first place was because he thought Sora was abandoning him for Goofy and Donald. But with them gone..., well would you fight your best friend, over some witch, that you obviously hated?

Actually he does... he also gots Nobody Killing OCD. I got evidence...

In the first 30 seconds I can almost here Sora say...

"Oh look a butterfly!"

And Goofy and Donald are like... "You know there is a war going on right?"

Yet Sora would rather sit back and kill nobodies than save peoples lives... typical.

 

This thread isn't about Sora killing the Organization. It's about what would happen and where he'd be if he was without Donald and Goofy.

How? He was just frustrated with the Organization...because they were a bad group.

Look, I'm not getting into this with you. This thread isn't to discuss whether he has ADD or not.

 

But it is to discuss how well he would have faired without Donald and Goofy's help.

And if he forgets his objective during one fight when the lives of countless people are on the line... you bet Kingdom Hearts would be a lot more tragic since his proness to distraction will cause him to do stupid side missions which have no bearing on the plot endlessly... meanwhile the heartless consume the universe.

actually this thread is about how far we each think sora would get if he was on his own. To sum up ICSP and I's posts, we're saying: not very far.

 

Considering what Riku was doing in order to try and 'save' Kairi's heart, yes. I believe he would have tried to stand up to Riku at some point. Maybe at the very end, but being a protector is in Sora's nature; he wouldn't want to harm anyone, whatever reason there was.

 

Sora would not have gone anywhere!

He wouldn't have made it out of Traverse Town without a Gummi Ship!

 

The question is a little vague, if you mean people to travel with him he probably would still make it, probably just at a slower pace though. In the very least, Mickey/the voice would have possibly guided him or some other plot device.

But if you mean utterly alone then he would probably be more screwed up then he currently is.

Regardless, he would make it somehow, some way, he is the main character for a reason, look at Roxas, sure he had friends in data land, but he was technically alone but still somehow "made it" to the end of his story.

 

Well I know if Donald and Goofy wern't around Riku wouldn't have gotten jealous of Sora and would have probably joined him to find Kairi until he found out that Riku kidnapped Alice and then fights him. To a certain degree Sora can handle himself like when he fought Riku 3 by himself in KH, and in COM he did fight alone and he was more mature than in KH but had Sora not had friends to guide him he would have probably fallen into the Organization's Trap, maybe he might not but then he though Xemnas by himself but then he couldn't of killed the Organization without the power of his friends.
