Of course, I'm talking about movies here. I'm watching the Saw series again, just because I can really, and I've been thinking about how none of those films really bother me in the slightest; and yet when I watched 127 hours it was really painful and gruesome for me. Maybe there really is something funny about horror films
Well that might be the reason why it doesn't bother you. You're use to what happens. As for the other film, maybe you haven't seen it as much?
I've only seen each of the Saw films once before, and they didn't creep me out the first time. In fact, yesterday was the first time I fully watched the first one, and I haven't even seen 4 or 5 yet. But seriously, watch 127 Hours and tell me you don't get disturbed by it
I prefer the classic horror movies in the '80s over the modern ones. I don't know. A lot of the modern ones seem to be more 'how much gore/blood can we get away with versus actual horror?' And gradually, you get used to copious amounts of blood and gore. That said, I am staying far away from Annabelle because creepy dolls are a big NO.
Okay, who was it that green-lit the female Chucky movie? Gah, those movies give me the creeps, even now. Okay, I just got goosebumps and suddenly don't have the urge to turn around
Eh, Bride of Chucky was too random even with the creepy doll factor. I've seen it at least twice and every time it's like '...wut?'
I'm not talking about Bride of Chucky, I'm talking about the creepy doll I looked up a minute ago from the title you put out on your last post. Ugh, I'm getting goosebumps thinking about that one. Creepy killer dolls are probably one of my biggest weaknesses when it comes to films. Which still makes me wonder why an 8-year old told me he'd scene the Chucky films in Child Watch. Yes, they're silly, but come on, 8-years old?
While I sort of agree with being tired of gore passed off as horror (although I thoroughly enjoy the Saw Movies), those seem to be dying out for found footage films. And there have been some good modern horror films like The Conjuring and The Last Exorcism. Even 13 Sins had a lot of good moments. And stay away from Annabelle. All the things that made The Conjuring great are no where to be seen in Annabelle. Too funny to be seem as scary.
Hey, what about The Woman in Black? I know it's really just jump-scare central, but it was different than what most movies do recently...even if it was made a few years ago
That one actually slipped my mind, but that was also good. Captured atmosphere and I'm actually glad it's not jump scare central. I don't know why I didn't mention it.
The Conjuring was just ok. I don't get why people think it's amazing; it's decent, but doesn't go far enough with any of its setups. Annabelle has some great scare scenes, but they're few and far between. Really coulda done more with the doll premise. The Woman in Black was, from what I could tell, also decent. I saw it in a drive-in so I could barely hear it though :< There are some decent found footage films you guys should watch too: The Bay [REC] V/H/S & V/H/S 2 (these are compilations that range from meh to great. Apollo 18 Troll Hunter (less of a horror film, but really fun) Grave Encounters
