And would know how to fix it?
Because I'm trying to add my friend and it always says she's online when she's not. And she has the same problem on her end.

I don't think it's the OS. She's running Windows XP and I'm running 7, but I don't imagine that would cause a problem. She's suggested it might be because I'm using a hotmail E-mail, but that's dumb because I have contact to other people through AIM.

I'm rather desperate for an answer since MSN is closing in the few days (the b*stards).

    Uninstall AIM.
    Use gmail chat function.

That is not a solution to the problem.
That is running away from the problem.

The way I see it, your problem is that you cannot communicate with someone and the solution is anything that allows you to communicate with them. You're being stubborn and trying to say that I'm not solving your problem because you want things to go a certain way. Fine, that's your prerogative but remember that flexibility is an advantage and being a hardhead is not.

Not necessarily. I want to use AIM because that's what my friend has. If I were being really subborn, I'd stick to MSN and not switch at all.

Solution: Ditch the lousy software, convince your friend that the lousy software is lousy, and then switch to Skype.

Skype is kind of resource hungry. On a weaker computer and/or internet connection it'll mess up your other tasks.

You could try using Pidgin, I really liked it when I used it. It conveniently connected AIM, Facebook, and MSN, and I never really had connection issues with it. I've since moved to Skype exclusively, but it's good for dealing with those one or two friends who refuse to move on from older messengers.

Personally, I dislike using skype for RP purposes, especially since it doesn't save logs directly to the computer. Might try Pigdin if it still doesn't work, though.

Has your friend tried the simple uninstall/reinstall path?

Comes off a bit douchey to say the least, but I'm sure you've figured that out now.

    I FIGURED IT OUT, GUYS.
AIM just wanted me to have an actual AIM email instead of using my hotmail one for some reason.
