So...The Meaning of Life?

One of my purposes is NOT to breed, actually. I have too many bad genes to want to pass them on (autism, cancer, diabetes, etc etc etc). Overall, I want to find something (archaeology ftw) that either A) unlocks a discovery of some kind or B) helps lead to said discovery.

I would also like to see the first extra-solar colony in my lifetime, but it doesn't look like that's gonna happen, lol.

 

My opinion of the meaning of life is to give life meaning

I've always believed that the meaning of life to extend life. For us to figure out how to live on, not as an individual, but as a species. That includes ridding the world of pollution, technological discoveries, etc.

And my question is: does it need a meaning?

Life doesn't need a meaning in my opinion...we just exist. We do it because we can. Does something need a reason to matter?

 

As humans we have a complete fixation on discovering things and finding their meaning, philosophers such Socrates put their opinions forward but nothing was ever a definite on our meaning of living.

Without meaning, what do we have?
Do we choose to be born? To be alive?
If not than why are we here?
If we never wished to be born, than why were we, and not others, still cultivated in the womb and birthed into our own existence?
Is there something in life that we can have that no other form or state can give us/

That is why I ask the meaning of it all.

We're here, that's it. We're conceived with certain traits and after being born, we do what we want.

 

true, but one also has to realize that when we're here, we all have goals and purposes that we like to fulfill, and therefore we need meaning to feel like we've done something good and significant in our time here on earth. so... the question is still posed: "What is the meaning of life here?" do i make sense? lol im just saying that meaning=goals=accomplishment=feeling good about oneself :D which is something we all want...

 

What we want and what we can do in life are different things, though 'wanting' things is somerthing everyone feels in life and usually aim to accomplish, thats how most things in life are created... or destroyed.

I understand what your saying. Meaning gives us a type of satisfaction or accomplishment in life, and feeling good is what living things want.
