Am I the only one that feels a little bit of myself just completely die and vanish from my life every time I even think of the word "2DS"? Oooh.....there goes a little more of my soul. I'm sorry my beautiful 3DS, you shouldn't have been allowed to see such a mockery of your generation.

 

I feel like one of the things people in this thread are forgetting is that electronics aren't meant to last nowadays like they were when we were kids.
There's an original Game Boy in that Nintendo museum in NYC that survived a goddamn bomb and still plays tetris. Hell, my grandmother's NES got knocked around a ton when I was a kid and it still works fine.
And yet, in high school I went through three DSs, and my brother replaces his phone screen at least once a year. Mass-marketed electronics just aren't as sturdy anymore, with our obsession of making everything portable. (Except Nokia phones, those things are still goddamn invincible.)

I feel like that's why they went with a sturdier design. I'm willing to bet I wasn't the only kid who just threw their game boy in their backpack with all their other sh*t and didn't worry about whether it got broken or not. The design wasn't particularly meant to be pretty, imo. It was meant to last longer.

And that's what I have to say as far as what it looks like.
